Fibrillin is the major constituent of extracellular microfibrils, which are distributed throughout connective tissues. Asprosin is derived from the C-terminal region of the FBN1 gene, which encodes profibrillin that undergoes cleavage by furin protein. In response to fasting with low dietary glucose, asprosin is released as a secreted factor from white adipose tissue, and is transported to the liver for the mediation of glucose release into the blood circulation.

Background: Since the first description of paediatric intervertebral disc calcification (IDC) by Báron in 1924, only approximately 400 cases have been reported in the literature. Paediatric IDC combined with ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL) is an even rarer condition, with only 8 cases described in detail to date. In this paper, we present a review of the disease characteristics described in the relevant English language literature and discuss the possible mechanisms of lesion enhancement in contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

With the aging process of population in the society, the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) in China is increasing continuously and the number of dental patients with CVD is increasing gradually too. Due to the lack of guidelines for dental patients with CVD in our country, how to implement standardized preoperative evaluation and perioperative risk prevention remains a problem to be solved for dentists at present. The present expert consensus was reached by combining the clinical experiences of the expert group of the Fifth General Dentistry Special Committee, Chinese Stomatological Association and respiratory and cardiology experts in diagnosis and treatment for CVD patients, and by systematically summarizing the relevant international guidelines and literature regarding the relationship between CVD and oral diseases and the diagnosis and treatment of dental patients with heart failure, hypertension and antithrombotic therapy.

Although it is known that the expression and activity of sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) significantly decrease in doxorubicin (DOX)-induced cardiomyopathy, the role of interaction between SIRT1 and sestrin 2 (SESN2) is largely unknown. In this study, we investigated whether SESN2 could be a crucial target of SIRT1 and the effect of their regulatory interaction and mechanism on DOX-induced cardiac injury. Here, using DOX-treated cardiomyocytes and cardiac-specific Sirt1 knockout mice models, we found SIRT1 deficiency aggravated DOX-induced cardiac structural abnormalities and dysfunction, whereas the activation of SIRT1 by resveratrol (RES) treatment or SIRT1 overexpression possessed cardiac protective effects.
