Construction and evaluation of prognostic models of ECMO in elderly patients with cardiogenic shock based on BP neural network, random forest, and decision tree.

Objective: To analyze the predictive effect of a back propagation (BP) neural network, random forest (RF) and decision tree model on the prognosis of elderly patients with cardiogenic shock after extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).

Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of the clinical data of elderly patients with cardiogenic shock (258 cases) who underwent ECMO in People's Hospital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from January 2016 to January 2022. All patients were followed up for 6 months after ECMO treatment.

Punicalagin attenuated allergic airway inflammation regulating IL4/IL-4Rα/STAT6 and Notch- GATA3 pathways.

Allergic asthma is an inflammatory disease of the airways which has a complex etiology. Punicalagin, a major polyphenol present in pomegranates, is reported to possess various biological properties including antioxidant and antiproliferative effects. The current research aimed to evaluate the antiasthmatic effects of punicalagin in an ovalbumin (OVA)-induced experimental model of asthma in female BALB/c mice.

Immunological role and prognostic potential of CLEC10A in pan-cancer.

Objectives: CLEC10A is expressed in a variety of cells, involved in a variety of biological pathways including immune response, and is closely related to the development of tumor immune response. However, the role of CLEC10A from a pan-cancer perspective has not yet been analyzed, and its role in human cancer prognosis and immunology remains largely unclear.

Methods: We studied the expression levels of CLEC10A and investigated its prognostic value in various cancers across distinct datasets including Oncomine, cBioPortal, and TCGA, and conducted immunohistochemical experiments using fresh bladder cancer and breast cancer samples to verify the results.

The roles and potential mechanisms of HCST in the prognosis and immunity of KIRC via comprehensive analysis.

Objectives: Hematopoietic cell signal transducer (HCST) participates in the activation of phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase-dependent signaling pathway and in the natural killer (NK) and T cell responses, which affect cell survival and proliferation. Here, the values of HCST in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC) are analyzed.

Methods: We used GEO, TCGA, GEPIA, UALCAN and TIMER databases to profile the expression of HCST in KIRC tissues, and define its clinical roles.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of combined epigenetic drugs of decitabine (DAC), valproic acid (VPA) and trichostatin A (TSA) on immunotherapy with a murine model of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Methods: Dendritic cells (DCs) transduced with recombinant lentivirus expressing a cancer-testis antigen, acrosin binding protein (ACRBP), are referred to as DC/ACRBP. CD8 T cells were harvested from spleens of C57BL/6 mice and activated by DC/ACRBP.

A new T staging system for nasopharyngeal carcinoma based on intensity-modulated radiation therapy: results from a prospective multicentric clinical study.

Purpose: This prospective multicentric study aimed to establish a new clinical T staging standard for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) based on intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT).

Methods And Materials: Between January 2006 and December 2009, four hundred and ninety-two NPC patients undergoing IMRT were staged according to the seventh edition of the UICC/AJCC staging system. The Kaplan-Meier method was used to calculate survival rates, and the log-rank test was used to compare survival differences.

Comparison of serum procalcitonin in respiratory infections and bloodstream infections.

Purpose: This study observed the relationship between procalcitonin (PCT) and results of sputum culture, the relationship between PCT and results of blood culture to evaluate and compare the value of PCT in respiratory and bloodstream infections.

Methods: We analyzed 1616 patients in which PCT and sputum culture were concurrently ordered and analyzed, and 1096 patients in which PCT and blood culture were concurrently ordered and analyzed from January 2014 to May 2015. PCT concentrations were measured by on a Roche Cobas E601 ECL analyzer.

Relation between qualitative and quantitative 3-dimensional ultrasound and ki-67 expression in breast cancer.

To investigate the relation between quantitative blood flow parameters on 3-dimensional (3D) color histogram, 3D ultrasound characteristics and Ki-67 expression in breast cancer. Three-dimensional ultrasound characteristics and histological classifications of 76 breast tumors in 75 confirmed cases were analyzed. Relations of tumor volume (V), vascularization index (VI), flow index (FI) and vascularization-flow index (VFI) on 3D color histogram to Ki-67 expression were studied by statistical methods.

The purpose of this study was to compare the safety and efficacy of micro-endoscopic discectomy (MED) and open discectomy (OD) for lubmar disc herniation (LDH). Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) comparing MED with OD for LDH were searched comprehensively in PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library. Relevant studies retrieved, data extracted and the quality of included studies were independently performed by two authors.

Overexpression of MAGE-D4 in colorectal cancer is a potentially prognostic biomarker and immunotherapy target.

Melanoma-associated antigen D4 (MAGE-D4) is a novel member of MAGE family. This study aimed to examine the expression and immunogenicity of MAGE-D4 in colorectal cancer (CRC) to determine its potential as a prognosis and immunotherapeutic target. The expression of MAGE-D4 mRNA and protein was determined by RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry (IHC) in CRCs with paired adjacent non-tumor tissues, colorectal adenomas and normal colorectal tissues, respectively.

Purpose: To Investigate the changes of Bolton index, maxillary and mandibular teeth size and teeth size discrepancy (TSD) in the youth and middle- aged and elderly people.

Methods: One hundred ninety-one youth dental plaster casts from malocclusion patients and 63 middle-aged and elderly people with snoring or obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) patients were selected. 12 teeth size between the upper and lower first molar, width of maxillary lateral incisor, Bolton anterior and overall ratios and teeth size discrepancy were measured and calculated.
