The etiology of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) remains elusive but it is believed to result from incompletely understood interactions between environmental triggers in a potentially genetically susceptible host and a subsequent aberrant immune response. Its incidence is increasing worldwide at an unprecedented rate, outpacing what genetic influences alone could instigate. The increasingly integral role played by eating in social life has led patients to gravitate to diet and food in their consultations with physicians and other health care professionals, in an attempt to improve, control, or even "cure" IBD through diet.

Background: Real-life data on vedolizumab effectiveness in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are still emerging. Data on the comparative safety of the gut selective profile are of particular interest.
Aims: To assess clinical outcome and safety in IBD patients treated with vedolizumab.

Objective: To evaluate radiation exposure in standard endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) using intra-operative guidance with pre-operative computed tomographic angiography (CTA) fusion and strict ALARA guidelines in a modern hybrid room.
Material And Methods: Between February and November 2016, consecutive patients with AAA undergoing EVAR with a bifurcated device in a hybrid room under fusion imaging guidance were prospectively enrolled in six aortic centres from the United States (n = 1), Europe (n = 4), and Japan (n = 1). Demographic data including body mass index (BMI), indirect dose area product (DAP), cumulative air kerma (CAK), variables influencing dose delivery, and contrast media volume were collected.

The incidence and prevalence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is increasing, and considering the aging population, this number is set to increase further in the future. The clinical features and natural history of elderly-onset IBD have many similarities with those of IBD in younger patients, but with significant differences including a broader differential diagnosis. The relative lack of data specific to elderly patients with IBD, often stemming from their typical exclusion from clinical trials, has made clinical decision-making somewhat challenging.

Objectives: Chronic fatigue syndrome/myalgic encephalopathy (CFS/ME) is a chronic illness which can cause significant fatigue, pain and disability. Activity pacing is frequently advocated as a beneficial coping strategy, however, it is unclear whether pacing is significantly associated with symptoms in people with CFS/ME. The first aim of this study was therefore to explore the cross-sectional associations between pacing and levels of pain, disability and fatigue.

The medical treatment of Parkinson's disease (PD) is symptomatic both in terms of motor and nonmotor aspects. The nonmotor symptoms therapy should be taken into account as many of them negatively influence the quality of life and are treatable. Botulinum neurotoxin (BoNT) offers effective treatment for drooling and bladder dysfunctions and alternative treatment for constipation and pain related to parkinsonism.

Background: High-risk human papillomaviruses (HPVs) cause all cervical cancer and the majority of vulvar, vaginal, anal, penile and oropharyngeal cancers. Although HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection, public awareness of this is poor. In addition, many clinicians lack adequate knowledge or confidence to discuss sexual transmission and related sensitive issues.

Chronic neck pain can result in significant levels of disability. Physiotherapy treatments often aim to modify cognitive factors and this approach benefits some, but not all, patients. Research from other pain conditions suggests that acceptance may be related to disability; however, it is unclear whether these associations exist in patients with neck pain.

Non-visible hematuria, also referred to as 'microscopic hematuria' or 'dipstick positive hematuria' is a common reason for urology referrals with prevalence rates that range from 13% to 20%. The main concern for investigating non-visible hematuria, especially in the absence of lower urinary tract symptoms, is its potential relation to urinary tract malignancy, which however does not exceed 5%. The pathway of investigation of non-visible hematuria is impeded by the lack of clarity over definitions, diagnosis and specialist referral criteria.

Purpose: To establish whether different processes underpin changes in disability in people with neck pain who underwent two types of active physiotherapy intervention.
Materials And Methods: This study was a sub-analysis of a randomized controlled trial assessing whether the addition of Interactive Behavioral Modification Therapy (a cognitively informed physiotherapy treatment) to a Progressive Neck Exercise Program improved outcome in patients with chronic neck pain. Regression analyses were performed to determine the extent to which demographics, changes in pain, and changes in certain cognitive factors were related to changes in disability.

Introduction: Osteoarthritis of the knee (OAK) can result in significant disability and previous authors have suggested that cognitive and falls-related factors may be significant determinants of function. However, no previous studies have considered the relative influence of these factors when the effects of symptoms related to OAK are also considered. Additionally, it is plausible that falls-related factors exert a greater influence in patients who have previously fallen.

Purpose: Our objective was to undertake a comprehensive review of the literature and conduct an analysis of the outcomes of percutaneous endovascular aneurysm repair.
Methods: MEDLINE; EMBASE; CINAHL; CENTRAL; the World Health Organization International Clinical Trials Registry; ClinicalTrials.gov; and ISRCTN Register, and bibliographic reference lists were searched to identify all studies providing comparative outcomes of the percutaneous technique for endovascular aneurysm repair.

Purpose To synthesize and quantify the excess risk of morbidity and mortality in individuals with low ankle-brachial pressure index. Methods Electronic databases were searched to identify studies investigating morbidity and mortality outcomes in individuals undergoing ankle-brachial pressure index measurement. Meta-analysis of the outcomes was performed using fixed- or random-effects models.

Background: Activity pacing has been associated with both improved and worsened symptoms, and its role in reducing disability among patients with long-term conditions has been questioned. However, existing studies have measured pacing according to unidimensional subscales, and therefore the empirical evidence for pacing as a multifaceted construct remains unclear. We have developed a 26-item Activity Pacing Questionnaire (APQ-26) for chronic pain/fatigue containing 5 themes of pacing: activity adjustment, activity consistency, activity progression, activity planning, and activity acceptance.
