Unlabelled: Children obesity is a serious public health problem drawing much attention around the world. Recent research indicated that gut microbiota plays a vital role in children obesity, and disturbed gut microbiota is a prominent characteristic of obese children. Diet and exercise are efficient intervention for weight loss in obesity children, however, how the gut microbiota is modulated which remains largely unknown.

LIPUS accelerates bone regeneration via HDAC6-mediated ciliogenesis.

Biochem Biophys Res Commun

January 2023

Department of Sports Medicine, Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, Changsha, 410008, China; Shenshan Medical Center, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, Shanwei, 516600, China. Electronic address:

Delayed fracture union and nonunion are common complications of fracture encountered, while Low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS) can stimulate bone regeneration. Still, the underlying mechanism of LIPUS on bone regeneration has been poorly understood, which resulted in varied outcomes in the clinic. Therefore, figuring out the mechanism of LIPUS on bone regeneration can lay the foundation for better use of LIPUS in clinical bone regenerative therapies.

Mitochondria-Shaping Proteins and Chemotherapy.

Front Oncol

November 2021

Key Laboratory of Carcinogenesis and Invasion, Chinese Ministry of Education, Department of Radiology, Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, Changsha, China.

The emergence, in recent decades, of an entirely new area of "Mitochondrial dynamics", which consists principally of fission and fusion, reflects the recognition that mitochondria play a significant role in human tumorigenesis and response to therapeutics. Proteins that determine mitochondrial dynamics are referred to as "shaping proteins". Marked heterogeneity has been observed in the response of tumor cells to chemotherapy, which is associated with imbalances in mitochondrial dynamics and function leading to adaptive and acquired resistance to chemotherapeutic agents.

Application of the "telescopic rod" in a combined surgical technique for the treatment of congenital pseudarthrosis of the tibia in children.

J Orthop Surg Res

August 2021

Department of Pediatric Orthopaedics, Hunan Children's Hospital, The Pediatric Academy of University of South China, No 86 Ziyuan Road, Yuhua District, Changsha City, 410007, Hunan Province, China.

Background: The current surgical treatment of choice is the combination surgical technique, involving tibial intramedullary fixation to maintain the mechanical axis and mechanical stability of tibial pseudarthrosis. In traditional combined surgery, the Williams rod is often used. Long-term intramedullary fixation of the foot and ankle will affect the ankle joint function of children.

Purpose: Controversy exists regarding fibular status related to tibial alignment after congenital pseudarthrosis of the tibia (CPT) achieves union. We aimed to determine whether fibular status affected frontal plane tibial alignment post-CPT union.

Methods: Between January 2010 and December 2013, we followed 36 patients treated using a combined surgical technique (mean 6.

Hydrogen Sulfide Switch Phenomenon Regulating Autophagy in Cardiovascular Diseases.

Cardiovasc Drugs Ther

February 2020

Institute of Cardiovascular Disease, Key Laboratory for Arteriosclerology of Hunan Province, University of South China, Hengyang, 421001, Hunan Province, China.

Hydrogen sulfide (HS), a novel gaseous signaling molecule, is a vital physiological signal in mammals. HS protects the cardiovascular system via modulation of vasodilation, vascular remodeling, and inhibition of vascular calcification, and also has anti-atherosclerosis properties. Autophagy is a lysosomal-mediated intracellular degradation mechanism for excessive or abnormal proteins and lipids.

CXCL2, a new critical factor and therapeutic target for cardiovascular diseases.

Clin Exp Hypertens

July 2020

Institute of Clinical Medicine, Nanhua Affiliated Hospital, University of South China, Hengyang, Hunan, P.R. China.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of death worldwide. Previous studies have shown that inflammatory chemokines are involved in the physiological functions of cytoskeletal reorganization, cell migration, adhesion and immune responses. However, in the past decade, there have been studies showing that inflammatory chemokines play a key role in CVD.

It has been reported that bupivacaine, the most widely used local anesthetic to relieve discogenic back pain in clinical settings, is cytotoxic to intervertebral disc (IVD) cells in vitro; however, the precise mechanisms of cytotoxicity induced by bupivacaine remain unclear. Autophagy is an intracellular lysosomal degradation process that is important for cellular survival. The present study investigated the role of autophagy in the survival of IVD cells subjected to bupivacaine treatment.

Surgical treatment of progressive cauda equina compression caused by spontaneous spinal subdural hematoma: A case report.

Medicine (Baltimore)

March 2019

Department of Orthopedic Surgery, The First Affiliated Hospital, School of Medicine, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou.

Rationale: Spontaneous spinal subdural hematoma (SSDH) without an underlying pathology is a very rare condition. The treatment protocol for SSDH is early diagnosis and treatment before irreversible damage to neural tissue. However, there is no agreement on the etiopathogenesis, as well as the need for surgery to treat spontaneous SSDH.

Back pain is a common clinical symptom. Degeneration of intervertebral discs is one of the most important factors leading to back pain, namely, discogenic back pain. However, at present, the understanding of lumbar intervertebral discs causing back pain is confined to biomechanical and histological studies.

Presumed Larsen syndrome in a child: a case with a 12-year follow-up.

J Pediatr Orthop B

May 2015

Department of Pediatric Orthopaedics, Hunan Children's Hospital, The Pediatric Academy of University of South China, Changsha City, China.

Larsen syndrome (OMIM 150250) was first described in 1950 as an entity characterized by distinct facial features and dislocations of the multiple large joint, and cleft palate, hearing loss, and spinal abnormalities were occasionally observed. The prevalence of Larsen syndrome is estimated to be one in 100,000 live births . Management of multiple large-joint dislocations often proves difficult with a tendency toward recurrence, particularly if a patient has complete dislocation of the knee .
