Objective: Black families are less likely to continue in pediatric weight management programs (PWMPs) and have less optimal outcomes. Few studies have examined how parenting practices and perceived support influence Black children's retention and weight loss in PWMPs.
Method: To fill this gap, this study sampled Black children and their parent ( = 49) who were participating in a Midwest PWMP to explore how children's reports of parental support and parenting practices at program initiation associate with early weight loss 3- and 6-month and retention at 6-month in the PWMP.
Recent advancements in 3D structure-based molecular generative models have shown promise in expediting the hit discovery process in drug design. Despite their potential, efficiently generating a focused library of candidate molecules that exhibit both effective interactions and structural diversity at a large scale remains a significant challenge. Moreover, current studies often lack comprehensive comparisons to high-throughput virtual screening methods, resulting in insufficient evaluation of their effectiveness.

The objectives of this study were to define and categorize patients' preoperative dieting attempts, and to determine how attempts are associated with postoperative outcomes, eating disorders, and demographics.

Background: Previous studies suggest the relationship between activation time (AT) and action potential duration (APD) in the heart is dependent on electrotonic coupling, but this has not been directly tested. This study assessed whether acute changes in electrical coupling, or other determinants of conduction or repolarization, modulate APD heterogeneity.
Methods And Results: Langendorff-perfused guinea pig hearts were epicardially paced and optically mapped after treatment with the gap junction uncoupler carbenoxolone, ephaptic uncoupler mannitol, ephaptic enhancer dextran 2MDa, sodium channel inhibitor flecainide, or rapid component of the delayed rectifier potassium channel inhibitor E4031.
Objective: Nasal surgery can improve patient-reported obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) outcomes as well as adherence with medical device treatments. The aim of this study was to examine whether previous nasal surgery was associated with hypoglossal nerve stimulation (HNS) therapy outcomes.
Study Design: Retrospective observational cohort study was performed utilizing the multicenter international HNS registry (ADHERE).

Structure refinement with reverse Monte Carlo (RMC) is a powerful tool for interpreting experimental diffraction data. To ensure that the under-constrained RMC algorithm yields reasonable results, the hybrid RMC approach applies interatomic potentials to obtain solutions that are both physically sensible and in agreement with experiment. To expand the range of materials that can be studied with hybrid RMC, we have implemented a new interatomic potential constraint in that grants flexibility to apply potentials supported by the () molecular dynamics code.

Bio-waste is a side product of biomedical research containing carbon, which can be utilized for developing carbon dots (CDs). CDs are known to be useful for a variety of applications because of their unique photoluminescence, low toxicity, and straightforward synthesis. In this paper, we employed a one-step hydrothermal method to prepare CDs from bio-waste as the only reactant.

However, purine analogs are known to be highly immunosuppressive and the infection burden in this patient population with current therapies is unknown. We therefore conducted a retrospective cohort study following 149 patients.

Objective: The objectives of the study were to assess emergency medicine (EM) physician perceptions of the EM job market 2 years after "The Emergency Medicine Physician Workforce: Projections for 2030" was published in and to examine how the workforce report may have influenced perceptions about job prospects.
Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted in 2022 of EM residents, fellows, and attendings at 21 practice sites. Main outcomes were perceptions of the likelihood of currently finding any job, currently finding a desirable job, and confidence in the future EM job market.

Catalytic reaction networks of multiple elementary steps operating under dynamic conditions a programmed input oscillation are difficult to interpret and optimize due to reaction system complexity. To understand these dynamic systems, individual elementary catalytic reactions oscillating between catalyst states were evaluated to identify their three fundamental characteristics that define their ability to promote reactions away from equilibrium. First, elementary catalytic reactions exhibit directionality to promote reactions forward or backward from equilibrium as determined by a ratchet directionality metric comprised of the input oscillation duty cycle and the reaction rate constants.

Despite their wide use, questions remain about the complex structural transition from polymer to ceramic and how local structure influences the final microstructure and resulting properties. This is further complicated when nanofillers are introduced to tailor structural and functional properties, as nanoparticle surfaces can interact with the matrix and influence the resulting structure.
