Here, we evaluate the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BAL) for potential biomarkers specific to CIP.

Prostate apoptosis response-4 (Par-4, also known as PAWR) is a ubiquitously expressed tumor suppressor protein that induces apoptosis selectively in cancer cells, while leaving normal cells unaffected. Our previous studies indicated that genetic loss of Par-4 promoted hepatic steatosis, adiposity, and insulin-resistance in chow-fed mice. Moreover, low plasma levels of Par-4 are associated with obesity in human subjects.

Chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy has significantly impacted treatment algorithms and clinical outcomes for a variety of patients with hematologic malignancies over the past decade. The field of cellular immunotherapy is currently experiencing a rapid expansion of the number of patients eligible for CAR-T therapies as approvals are being seen in earlier lines of therapy. With the expanded patients eligible for these therapies, more treatment centers will be necessary to keep up with demand.

Data on recent bone marrow harvest (BMH) collections from the NMDP has shown that bone marrow (BM) quality has decreased based on total nucleated cell count in the product. To ensure that quality BM products are available to all recipients, the NMDP Marrow Alliance was formed in April 2021 to increase the capability of BM collection centers to safely deliver high-quality products consistently and to identify and disseminate guidelines for performing BMH. This white paper describes the best practices for BMH as defined by the NMDP Marrow Alliance.

Introduction: This study assessed the substitutability of plausible combustible menthol cigarette alternatives (MCAs) for usual brand menthol cigarettes (UBMCs) in adults who smoke menthol cigarettes.

Methods: Following three in-lab sampling sessions, 80 adults aged 21-50 who smoke menthol cigarettes chose their preferred MCA: (1) a menthol roll-your-own cigarette (mRYO), (2) a menthol filtered little cigar (mFLC) or (3) a non-menthol cigarette (NMC). Participants were instructed to completely substitute their preferred MCA for their UBMC for 1 week and complete daily diaries documenting adherence and subjective effects.
