Autologous ilium graft combination with Y-shaped titanium plate fixation for chest wall reconstruction after resection of primary sternal tumors-a clinical study from three institutions.

Background: The technique for anterior chest wall reconstruction after resection of primary sternal tumors (PST) still continue to evolve.

Methods: A total of 12 PST patients from three hospitals who underwent resection were included in our study. After finishing sternum resection, autologous iliac bone combined with Y-shaped titanium plate were applied to rebuild the anterior chest wall.

Honokiol induces endoplasmic reticulum stress-mediated apoptosis in human lung cancer cells.

Aims: Honokiol is a hydroxylated biphenyl natural product and displays potent antitumor activity against several cancers including prostate cancer, melanoma, leukemia, and colorectal cancer. The present study was to investigate the in vitro activity of honokiol against A549 and 95-D human lung cancer cells.

Main Methods: A549 and 95-D cells were used with honokiol treatment.

The utility of measuring the apparent diffusion coefficient for peritumoral zone in assessing infiltration depth of endometrial cancer.

Background: The invasion depth of endometrial cancer is one of the most important prognosis factors. The aim of the current study was to investigate the diagnostic value of the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) of the peritumoral zone for assessing the infiltration depth of endometrial cancer.

Methods: An institutional review board approved this prospective study, and all study participants provided informed consent.

Evaluation of Serum CEA, CA19-9, CA72-4, CA125 and Ferritin as Diagnostic Markers and Factors of Clinical Parameters for Colorectal Cancer.

Blood-based protein biomarkers have recently shown as simpler diagnostic modalities for colorectal cancer, while their association with clinical pathological characteristics is largely unknown. In this study, we not only examined the sensitivity and reliability of single/multiple serum markers for diagnosis, but also assessed their connection with pathological parameters from a total of 279 colorectal cancer patients. Our study shown that glycoprotein carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) owns the highest sensitivity among single marker in the order of CEA > cancer antigen 72-4 (CA72-4) > cancer antigen 19-9 9 (CA19-9) > ferritin > cancer antigen 125 (CA125), while the most sensitive combined-markers for two to five were: CEA + CA72-4; CEA + CA72-4 + CA125; CEA + CA19-9 + CA72-4 + CA125; and CEA + CA19-9 + CA72-4 + CA125 + ferritin, respectively.

Genotype and homology analysis of pathogenic and colonization strains of Candida albicans from hospitalized neonates.

Background: To detect the genotypes of pathogenic and colonization Candida albicans strains and to reveal whether there was a homologous relationship between these strains.

Methods: Pathogenic and colonization isolates were collected from infants in the NICU of Shenzhen People's Hospital (Shenzhen, People's Republic of China). rDNA identification, multilocus sequence typing (MLST), and multi-loci variable number tandem repeat analysis (MLVA) were used for species confirmation, strain identification, phylogenetic tree clustering, and assessment of homology among the pathogenic and colonization strains.

A Bayesian Stepwise Discriminant Model for Predicting Risk Factors of Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes: A Case-control Study.

Background: Preterm premature rupture of membrane (PPROM) can lead to serious consequences such as intrauterine infection, prolapse of the umbilical cord, and neonatal respiratory distress syndrome. Genital infection is a very important risk which closely related with PPROM. The preliminary study only made qualitative research on genital infection, but there was no deep and clear judgment about the effects of pathogenic bacteria.

Assessment of the effectiveness of HPV16/18 infection referred for colposcopy in cervical cancer screening in Northwest of China.

To evaluate the effectiveness of Human papillomavirus16/18 infection referral to colposcopy in cervical cancer screening for women aged 25 years and older in Chinese northwest region Shaan'xi province. A total of 2224 women were diagnosed with primary high-risk HPV infection by HPV-DNA genotyping technology during August 2014 to August 2015. A total of 1916 cases referred for colposcopy with histological evidence were enrolled, including 1124 women with HPV16/18 genotype and 792 with other High-risk human papillomavirus genotypes.

Combined subjective and quantitative analysis of magnetic resonance images could improve the diagnostic performance of deep myometrial invasion in endometrial cancer.

Purpose: To evaluate whether the combination of subjective magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and quantitative analysis by using the exponential ADC (EADC) value of the peri-endometrial zone can improve the diagnostic performance of deep myometrial invasion in endometrial cancer patients.

Materials And Methods: We prospectively evaluated 111 patients with either cervical cancer (normal endometria group) or endometrial cancer (endometrial cancer group). Two radiologists assessed all preoperative MR images with T1, T2, and diffusion-weighted imaging.
