In late December 2019, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) first broke out in Wuhan, China, and has now become a global pandemic. However, there is no specific antiviral treatment for COVID-19. This study enrolled 33 COVID-19 patients in the nineth hospital of Nanchang from 27th January to 24th February 2020.

Tri-typing of hepatitis B-related acute-on-chronic liver failure defined by the World Gastroenterology Organization.

J Gastroenterol Hepatol

January 2021

Hepatology Unit, Department of Infectious Diseases, Nanfang Hospital, Southern Medical University, Guangzhou, China.

Background And Aim: Tri-typing of acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF), as proposed by the World Gastroenterology Organization (WGO), has not been validated in patients infected with hepatitis B virus (HBV). We aim to compare the three types of ACLF patients in clinic characteristics.

Methods: Hospitalized ACLF patients with chronic hepatitis B from five hepatology centers were retrospectively selected and grouped according to the WGO classification.

Background: The emerging infection of the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in late December, 2019 in Wuhan, China, has caused an extreme health concern, with many patients having progressed to acute respiratory disease or other complications in a short period. Meanwhile, the risk factors associated with the disease progression still remain elusive.

Methods: A cohort of 17 patients with laboratory-confirmed 2019-nCoV infections who were admitted to the Ninth Hospital of Nanchang between January 28 and February 6, 2020, were enrolled in this study.

Oxidative stress mediated by nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) oxidase (NOX) plays an important role in intestinal mucosal barrier damage in various disease states. Recent evidence suggests that intestinal mucosal barrier damage and intestinal dysbiosis occur in mice with hepatic fibrosis induced by CCl4 or bile duct ligation. Another study showed that ursolic acid (UA) attenuates experimental colitis via its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities.

Background: Studies have shown that both NOX4 and RhoA play essential roles in fibrosis and that they regulate each other. In lung fibrosis, NOX4/ROS is located upstream of the RhoA/ROCK1 signaling pathway, and the two molecules are oppositely located in renal fibrosis. Currently, no reports have indicated whether the above mechanisms or other regulatory mechanisms exist in liver fibrosis.

Liver fibrosis is a reversible wound-healing response that occurs after liver injury. NADPH oxidases (NOXs) and reactive oxygen species (ROS) which are expressed in hepatocytes (HCs), hepatic stellate cells (HSCs), and Kupffer cells (KCs) play an important role in the development of hepatic fibrosis. In in vitro studies, we had shown that ursolic acid (UA) could reverse liver fibrosis by inhibiting the activation of NOX-mediated fibrotic signaling networks in HSCs.

Aim: To investigate the expression of NIBP and its clinical significance in early colorectal cancer.

Patients And Methods: With immunohistochemistry, the expression of NIBP was detected in 23 patients of early colorectal cancer tissues, 102 patients of invasive colorectal cancer tissues, 32 patients of adenoma and 20 patients of normal tissues. The relationship between NIBP expression and clinicopathological characteristic of colorectal cancer were also analyzed.

A specific and reliable HPLC-MS/MS method was developed and validated for the simultaneous determination of 2',3'-dideoxyinosine (ddI) and the active metabolites, 2',3'-dideoxyadenosine-5'-triphosphate (ddA-TP) in human peripheral-blood mononuclear cell for the first time. The analytes were separated on a HILIC column (100mm×2.1mm, 1.
