A secondary aim of this review was to provide an overview of recommendations for manipulation or mobilization in patients with neck pain. Manipulation or mobilization treatment of patients with neck pain is under debate for its potential risk of serious adverse events.

Exploring the antiproliferative effect of PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway and CDK4/6 inhibitors in human papillomavirus‑positive and ‑negative head and neck squamous cell carcinoma cell lines.

In HPV‑negative tumors, (encoding p16 protein) inactivation or (encoding Cyclin D1 protein) amplification frequently results in sustained cyclin‑dependent kinase (CDK) 4/6 activation. The present study aimed to investigate the efficacy of the CDK4/6 inhibitors (CDKi) palbociclib and ribociclib, and the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway inhibitors (PI3Ki) gedatolisib, buparlisib and alpelisib, in suppressing cell viability of HPV‑positive and ‑negative HNSCC cell lines.

Background: The internet is increasingly used as a primary source of information for patients with musculoskeletal pain. Private physiotherapy practices provide informative content on low back pain (LBP) and neck pain (NP) on their websites, but the extent to which this information is biopsychosocial, guidelines-consistent, and fear-inducing is unknown. The aim of this study was to analyse the information on websites of private physiotherapy practices in the Netherlands about LBP and NP regarding consistency with the guidelines and the biopsychosocial model and to explore the use of fear-inducing language.

Post-intrathecal chemotherapy-related paraplegia syndrome in hematological cancer patients: A systematic review.

Background: Intrathecal (IT) chemotherapy is essential in treating hematological malignancies, but it can lead to ascending paraplegia, a condition that currently lacks clear management guidelines.

Methods: We conducted a systematic review, analyzing 1219 studies and 116 patients, adhering to PRISMA guidelines for individual patient data. The study, registered under PROSPERO (CRD42022362121), focused on the onset, diagnostic approaches, and therapeutic interventions associated with this complication, and management strategies to tackle the ascending paraplegia.

Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) is the deadliest infectious disease worldwide and novel vaccines are urgently needed. HLA-E is a virtually monomorphic antigen presentation molecule and is not downregulated upon HIV co-infection. HLA-E restricted specific CD8 T cells are present in the circulation of individuals with active TB (aTB) and infection (TBI) with or without HIV co-infection, making HLA-E restricted T cells interesting vaccination targets for TB.

Introduction: Recruitment of participants for intervention studies is challenging. We evaluated the effectiveness and efficiency of a participant recruitment campaign through an online registry for the FINGER-NL study, a multi-domain lifestyle intervention trial targeting cognitively healthy individuals aged 60-79 with dementia prevention potential. Additionally, we explored which recruitment strategy successfully reached individuals from underrepresented groups in research.

A Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial to Examine the Impact of a Therapy Dog Intervention on Loneliness in Hospitalized Older Adults.

Background And Objectives: Loneliness is linked to significant health threats and is potentially more dangerous than obesity; it affects as many as 29% of noninstitutionalized older adults. Loneliness is exacerbated for those who require inpatient rehabilitation, are displaced from their social networks, spend little time receiving therapy, and are physically inactive and socially isolated. Grazing can alter the physicochemical properties of soil and quickly influence the composition of microbial communities. However, the effects of grazing intensity on fungal community composition in different soil depth remain unclear. On the Inner Mongolia Plateau, we studied the effects of grazing intensity treatments including no grazing (NG), light grazing (LG), moderate grazing (MG), heavy grazing (HG), and over grazing (OG) on the physicochemical properties and fungal community composition of surface (0-20 cm) and subsurface (20-40 cm) soil layers.

Conservative Pulmonary Arteriovenous Malformation Screening in Children: Re-Evaluation of Safety.

Introduction: Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) is an autosomal dominant vascular disease and screening to detect pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVMs) is important to prevent complications. In adults, transthoracic contrast echocardiogram (TTCE) is used to screen PAVMs. In children, a conservative screening method seems to be sufficient to rule out major PAVMs and prevent them from PAVM-related complications.

Flexible Morphological Regulation of Photothermal Nanodrugs: Understanding the Relationship between the Structure, Photothermal Effect, and Tumoral Biodistribution.

The morphology of nanodrugs is of utmost importance in photothermal therapy because it directly influences their physicochemical behavior and biological responses. However, clarifying the inherent relationship between morphology and the resultant properties remains challenging, mainly due to the limitations in the flexible morphological regulation of nanodrugs. Herein, we created a range of morphologically controlled nanoassemblies based on poly(ethylene glycol)--poly(d,l-lactide) (PEG-PLA) block copolymer building blocks, in which the model photosensitizer phthalocyanine was incorporated.

Purpose: To correct maternal breathing and fetal bulk motion during fetal 4D flow MRI.

Methods: A Doppler-ultrasound fetal cardiac-gated free-running 4D flow acquisition was corrected post hoc for maternal respiratory and fetal bulk motion in separate automated steps, with optional manual intervention to assess and limit fetal motion artifacts. Compressed-sensing reconstruction with a data outlier rejection algorithm was adapted from previous work.

Effects of Plant-Based Diet on Metabolic Parameters, Liver and Kidney Steatosis: A Prospective Interventional Open-label Study.

This interventional single-center prospective open-label study aims to evaluate the effects of a vegan diet, compared to a vegetarian and omnivorous diet, on metabolic parameters, insulin sensitivity, and liver and kidney steatosis in healthy adults. The study included 53 omnivorous participants aged 18-40 years, body-mass index 18-30 kg/m2, without any chronic disease, chronic medication use, active smoking, or significant alcohol consumption. All participants were omnivorous at baseline and selected to continue an omnivorous diet or transition to a vegetarian or vegan diet, with follow-up over six months.

Objectives: One important aspect in facilitating language access for children with hearing loss (HL) is the auditory environment. An optimal auditory environment is characterized by high signal to noise ratios (SNRs), low background noise levels, and low reverberation times. In this study, the authors describe the auditory environment of early intervention groups specifically equipped for young children with HL.
