Background: This Obesity Medicine Association (OMA) Clinical Practice Statement (CPS) details assessment and management of the child with overweight or obesity. The term "child" is defined as the child between 2 and 12 years of age. Because children are in a continual state of development during this age range, we will specify when our discussion applies to subsets within this age range.

Background: Cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) infection remains a serious complication, causing increased morbidity and mortality. Early recognition and escalation to definitive therapy including extraction of the infected device often pose challenges.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to assess U.

Previous reports on the impact of preexisting atrial fibrillation (AF) on clinical outcomes after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) have presented limited data on the relative impact of paroxysmal versus persistent AF subtypes. We compared in-hospital, 1-year, and late clinical outcomes in 1,098 patients who underwent TAVI with preoperative AF (556 paroxysmal, 542 persistent) versus 1,787 patients without AF. The propensity-matched cohorts with AF (n = 643) and without AF (n = 686) did not differ with respect to baseline clinical characteristics, operative technique, or in-hospital TAVI complications.

Background: The ADVENT randomized trial revealed no significant difference in 1-year freedom from atrial arrhythmias (AA) between thermal (radiofrequency/cryoballoon) and pulsed field ablation (PFA). However, recent studies indicate that the postablation AA burden is a better predictor of clinical outcomes than the dichotomous endpoint of 30-second AA recurrence.
Objectives: The goal of this study was to determine: 1) the impact of postablation AA burden on outcomes; and 2) the effect of ablation modality on AA burden.

Background: Although expertise in left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) has grown, certain intricate anatomies may pose challenges, rendering them unsuitable for LAAO with the selected device.
Objective: This analysis aimed to characterize outcomes of patients with prior failed percutaneous LAAO procedures who underwent a subsequent attempt with an Amulet occluder in the EMERGE LAA postapproval study.
Methods: Patients enrolled in the National Cardiovascular Data Registry LAAO Registry who had an Amulet occluder implantation attempt between Food and Drug Administration approval (August 14, 2021) and June 30, 2023, were evaluated.

Background: Pericardial effusion requiring percutaneous or surgical-based intervention remains an important complication of a leadless pacemaker implantation.
Objective: The study sought to determine real-world prevalence, risk factors, and associated outcomes of pericardial effusion requiring intervention in leadless pacemaker implantations.
Methods: The National Inpatient Sample and International Classification of Diseases-Tenth Revision codes were used to identify patients who underwent leadless pacemaker implantations during the years 2016 to 2020.

Multiple myeloma (MM), constituting 10% of hematological malignancies, poses significant morbidity and mortality, especially with skeletal involvement. Bisphosphonate use in MM may lead to severe hypocalcemia due to vitamin D deficiency (VDD), exacerbating bone-marrow plasma cell burden. We aimed to assess VDD prevalence and its impact on outcomes in MM patients.

Background: The ISCHEMIA trial found that patients with chronic coronary disease randomized to invasive strategy had better health status than those randomized to conservative strategy. It is unclear how best to translate these population-level results to individual patients.
Objectives: The authors sought to identify patient characteristics associated with health status from invasive and conservative strategies, and develop a prediction algorithm for shared decision-making.

Background: Various treatment approaches for atrial fibrillation (AF) have demonstrated improved health status, yet the significance of these therapeutic interventions in individual patients remains unclear.
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate health status changes in patients with early AF, focusing on those who experience clinically significant deterioration after treatment initiation.
Methods: We analyzed data from a multicenter, prospective registry of newly diagnosed patients with AF.
