Background: Observational studies have suggested at a possible link between keratoconus (KC) and various mental disorders, but the exact direction of causation in these associations remains unclear. This study aims to investigate the potential causal link between KC and three prominent mental conditions: Anxiety, Depression, and Schizophrenia.

Methods: Using instrumental variables identified from Genome-wide association study (GWAS) data of European individuals, we conducted bidirectional two-sample Mendelian Randomization (MR) analyses to explore potential causal relationships between KC and the three major mental disorders.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the local application of silver nitrate (LASN) as an adjuvant treatment before deep lamellar keratoplasty (DLKP) for fungal keratitis responding poorly to medical treatment.

Methods: A total of 12 patients (12 eyes) with fungal keratitis responding poorly to medical treatment (for at least 2 weeks) were included. LASN was performed using 2% silver nitrate, the ulcer was cleaned and debrided, and then, the silver nitrate cotton stick was applied to the surface of the ulcer for a few seconds.

Filtration surgery (Trabeculectomy) is the main treatment for glaucoma. The scarring of the filtration bleb and obstruction of the outflow of aqueous humor through the filtration channel are the main reasons of the surgery failure. The objective of this study was to determine the clinical efficacy of needle revision of filtration blebs combined with subconjunctival injection of conbercept on the functional bleb formation in glaucoma patients with eye pressure out of control after trabeculectomy.

Vitreous amyloidosis caused by a Lys55Asn variant in transthyretin: A case report.

Background: Amyloidosis is caused by misfolding of proteins and is characterized by formation of extracellular aggregates of insoluble fibrin. The primary effects in the eye include sharp deterioration of visual acuity as a result of vitreous opacity. According to the local and systemic distribution characteristics of amyloid deposits and their fibrin components, amyloidosis can be classified as primary, secondary or familial.

Analysis of Demodex infection rate and risk factors in patients with meibomian gland dysfunction.

Purpose: In the present study, we aimed to investigate the positive rate of Demodex infection in patients with meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) and to analyze its risk factors.

Methods: A total of 178 MGD patients admitted to the Jinan Second People's Hospital from April 2020 to February 2021 were enrolled in the present study. All patients were examined for Demodex infection, and their medical history was collected.
