Introduction: Mechanical chronic low back pain is often associated with impaired neuromuscular control of the lumbar multifidus muscles, the most important stabilizers of the lumbar spine. Restorative neurostimulation is a modality for the treatment for this specific subset of patients aimed to facilitate restoration of neuromuscular control by bilateral stimulation of the L2 medial branches. Evidence from both prospective and randomised clinical trials to date has demonstrated substantial improvements in clinical outcomes such as pain, disability and health-related quality of life.

Background: The Improving the Wellbeing of people with Opioid Treated CHronic pain (I-WOTCH) randomised controlled trial found that a group-based educational intervention to support people using strong opioids for chronic non-malignant pain helped a significant proportion of people to stop or decrease opioid use with no increase in pain-related disability. We report a linked process evaluation of the group-based intervention evaluated in comparison to a usual-care control group that received a self-help booklet and relaxation CD.

Methods: We interviewed 18 intervention facilitators, and 20 intervention and 20 control participants who had chronic non-malignant pain and were recruited from general (family) practices in the UK.

We report a case of a 42-year-old female presenting with left axillary pain radiating down the arm and weakness in the ipsilateral hand. Specialist examinations of neurological and musculoskeletal systems were insignificant. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the whole spine and brain revealed cerebellar tonsillar herniation of 9-10mm indicating a Chiari type 1 malformation and a large tubular T2 high-intensity lesion in the cervical cord, extending from the C2/3-disc level down to C6/C7 as well as a similar but smaller lesion behind the bodies of C7 and T1.

In recent years Radiotherapy linear accelerator (linac) vendors have developed their own integrated quality control (QC) systems. Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a cardiac condition with structural and functional impairment, where either the left ventricle or both ventricular chambers are enlarged, coinciding with reduced systolic pump function (reduced ejection fraction, rEF). The prevalence of DCM is more than 1:250 individuals, and mortality largely due to heart failure in two-third of cases, and sudden cardiac death in one-third of patients. Damage to the myocardium, whether from a genetic or environmental cause such as viruses, triggers inflammation and recruits immune cells to the heart to repair the myocardium.
