Introduction: Patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) commonly present musculoskeletal disorders characterized by lower bone mineral density (BMD) and muscle weakness. However, the underlying etiology remains unclear. Our objective is to identify shared pleiotropic genetic effects and estimate the causal relationship between MS and musculoskeletal disorders.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) stands as a prevalent and economically burdensome condition worldwide, yet its complex molecular mechanisms remain incompletely understood. To address this gap, our study employs a multifaceted approach, combining mass spectrometry and RNA sequencing technologies, to elucidate the intricate molecular landscape underlying nephrotoxin-induced AKI in mice by cisplatin- and LPS-induced. By examining the protein and RNA expression profiles, we aimed to uncover novel insights into the pathogenesis of AKI and identify potential diagnostic and therapeutic targets.

Background: Bladder cancer (BC) is one of the ten most common cancers worldwide with late detection and early age of diagnosis. There is abundant evidence that early detection and timely intervention can lead to a better prognosis of BC. Substantial evidence has indicated that microRNAs (miRNAs) are specific to different tumour types and are remarkably stable, indicating that serum miRNAs may serve as potential cancer diagnostic markers.

AIDA-1, encoded by ANKS1B, is an abundant postsynaptic scaffold protein essential for brain development. Mutations of ANKS1B are closely associated with various psychiatric disorders. However, very little is known regarding the molecular mechanisms underlying AIDA-1's involvements under physiological and pathophysiological conditions.

The regeneration of critical-size bone defects, especially those with irregular shapes, remains a clinical challenge. Various biomaterials have been developed to enhance bone regeneration, but the limitations on the shape-adaptive capacity, the complexity of clinical operation, and the unsatisfied osteogenic bioactivity have greatly restricted their clinical application. In this work, we construct a mechanically robust, tailorable and water-responsive shape-memory silk fibroin/magnesium (SF/MgO) composite scaffold, which is able to quickly match irregular defects by simple trimming, thus leading to good interface integration.

The size and condition of the peripheral CD4 T cell population determine the capacity of the immune response. Under homeostatic conditions, the size of the peripheral CD4 T cell population is maintained through turnover and survival. However, the underlying mechanisms remain inadequately understood.

Introduction: Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a prevalent, chronic and progressive retinal degenerative disease characterized by an inflammatory response mediated by activated microglia accumulating in the retina. In this study, we demonstrate the therapeutically effects and the underlying mechanisms of microglial repopulation in the laser-induced choroidal neovascularization (CNV) model of exudative AMD.
Methods: The CSF1R inhibitor PLX3397 was used to establish a treatment paradigm for microglial repopulation in the retina.

Simvastatin (SV) is a statin drug that can effectively control cholesterol and prevent cardiovascular diseases. However, SV is water-insoluble, and poor oral bioavailability (<5 %). Solid self-emulsifying carrier system is more stable than liquid emulsions, facilitating to improve the solubility and bioavailability of poorly soluble drugs.

As people age, their ability to resist injury and repair damage decreases significantly. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has demonstrated diverse therapeutic effects on tissue repair. However, the inconsistency of patient outcomes poses a challenge to the practical application of PRP in clinical practice.

Congenital heart diseases are the most common birth defects around the world. Emerging evidence suggests that mitochondrial homeostasis is required for normal heart development. In mitochondria, a series of molecular chaperones including heat shock protein 60 (HSP60) are engaged in assisting the import and folding of mitochondrial proteins.

Background: The immune microenvironment and oxidative stress of melanoma show significant heterogeneity, which affects tumor growth, invasion and treatment response. Single-cell and bulk RNA-seq data were used to explore the heterogeneity of the immune microenvironment and oxidative stress of melanoma.
Methods: The R package Seurat facilitated the analysis of the single-cell dataset, while Harmony, another R package, was employed for batch effect correction.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and atherosclerosis (AS) are both common chronic inflammatory diseases with similar pathophysiological mechanisms. Some studies have shown that IBD patients are at increased risk for early atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction and venous thrombosis. Here we set up a hybrid mouse model associated with atherosclerosis and acute colitis in order to investigate the interplay of the two diseases.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) occurs when there is an imbalance between the proliferation and death of prostate cells, which is regulated tightly by estrogen signaling. However, the role of G protein-coupled estrogen receptor (GPER) in prostate cell survival remains ambiguous. In this study, we observed that prostates with epithelial hyperplasia showed increased yes-associated protein 1 (YAP) expression and decreased levels of estrogen and GPER.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC)-derived small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) play a pivotal role in modulating intercellular communications between tumor cells and other cells in the microenvironment, thereby influencing tumor progression and the efficacy of therapeutic interventions. However, a comprehensive inventory of these secretory miRNAs in sEVs and their biological and clinical implications remains elusive. This study aims to profile the miRNA content of OSCC cell line sEVs and computationally elucidate their biological and clinical relevance.
