Oral condyloma acuminatum (OCA) is a less prevalent subtype of condyloma acuminatum and is challenging to treat. We reported two cases of OCA successfully treated with 5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy (ALA-PDT). After three treatments spaced one week apart, both cases were completely cured without significant adverse reactions and were followed up for one year with no recurrence.

Nanomaterials are widely used in biomedical applications such as drug delivery, bioimaging, and photothermal therapy. For example, graphene oxide (GO) nanomaterials are among the most popular drug delivery vehicles in treating liver diseases due to their tunable chemical/physical properties, and biocompatibility. However, it has been reported that nanomaterials tend to accumulate in livers.

Objective: We aimed to explore the prognostic patterns of ferroptosis-related genes in papillary renal cell carcinoma (PRCC) and investigate the relationship between ferroptosis-related genes and PRCC tumor immune microenvironment.
Methods: We obtained the mRNA expression and corresponding clinical data of PRCC from the public tumor cancer genome atlas database (TCGA). The PRCC patients were randomly divided into two cohort, training cohort and verification cohort, respectively.

This study evaluated the predictive value of serum HBV DNA, HBV RNA, HBcrAg, HBsAg, intrahepatic HBV DNA and cccDNA for HBeAg clearance and seroconversion during long-term treatment with nucleos(t)ide analogues (NAs) in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB). A single centre, prospective cohort of CHB patients was used for this study. Serum HBV RNA levels were retrospectively measured at baseline, 6, 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72 and 84 months post-NAs treatment.

Detecting nitroreductase (NTR) activity in hypoxic cells and tissues represents an important step toward accurate delineation of hypoxic disease loci. However, it remains challenging to develop fluorescent probes with the necessary attributes of selectivity, sensitivity, precise targeting and aqueous solubility. Herein, two kinds of fluorescent probes (NNP and cRGD-NNP) built on a 2-nitroimidazole sensing platform were synthesized for the detection of NTR activity in cell and models of hypoxia.

Trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO) was found to play crucial roles in vascular endothelial function. However, the exact molecular mechanisms are not yet entirely clear. Recently, we found that exosomes (Exos) isolated from TMAO-treated hepatocytes (TMAO-Exos) contained a distinctive profile of miRNAs compared to those from the TMAO-free group (Control-Exos).

Precise regulation of chromosome separation through spindle assembly checkpoint (SAC) during oocyte meiosis is critical for mammalian reproduction. The kinetochore plays an important role in the regulation of SAC through sensing microtubule tension imbalance or missing microtubule connections. Here, we report that kinetochore scaffold 1 (KNL1, also known as CASC5), an outer kinetochore protein, plays a critical role in the SAC function of mouse oocytes.

The first wave of hematopoiesis is the primitive hematopoiesis, which produces embryonic erythroid and myeloid cells. Primitive erythrocytes are thought to be generated from bipotent hemangioblasts, but the molecular basis remains unclear. Transcriptional repressors Gfi1aa and Gfi1b have been shown to cooperatively promote primitive erythrocytes differentiation from hemangioblasts in zebrafish.

Drosophila phototransduction is one of the fastest known G protein-coupled signaling pathways. To ensure the specificity and efficiency of this cascade, the calcium (Ca)-permeable cation channel, transient receptor potential (TRP), binds tightly to the scaffold protein, inactivation-no-after-potential D (INAD), and forms a large signaling protein complex with eye-specific protein kinase C (ePKC) and phospholipase Cβ/No receptor potential A (PLCβ/NORPA). However, the biochemical properties of the Drosophila TRP channel remain unclear.

In addition, the gut microbiota and its metabolite, trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO), have been shown to play a crucial role in the development of CVD. The fact that egg is rich in choline suggests that excessive egg consumption may increase TMAO production by altering the gut microbiota.

Congenital cataract, an ocular disease predominantly occurring within the first decade of life, is one of the leading causes of blindness in children. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of congenital cataract remain incompletely defined. Through whole-exome sequencing of a Chinese family with congenital cataract, we identified a potential pathological variant (p.

Introduction: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease and skin microbiota dysbiosis shows an important role in the pathogenesis of AD. Effects of treatment on skin microbiota for patients with AD have been evaluated in recent years; however, the results remained controversial across studies. This systematic review will summarise studies evaluating the effect of treatments on skin microbiota among patients with AD.

Androgen receptor (AR) signaling is essential for maintaining spermatogenesis and male fertility. However, the molecular mechanisms by which AR acts between male germ cells and somatic cells during spermatogenesis have not begun to be revealed until recently. With the advances obtained from the use of transgenic mice lacking AR in Sertoli cells (SCARKO) and single-cell transcriptomic sequencing (scRNA-seq), the cell specific targets of AR action as well as the genes and signaling pathways that are regulated by AR are being identified.

N-Methyladenosine (mA) is the most widespread internal RNA modification in several species. In spite of latest advances in researching the biological roles of mA, its function in the development and progression of bladder cancer remains unclear. In this study, we used MeRIPty -55-seq and RNA-seq methods to obtain a comprehensive transcriptome-wide mA profiling and gene expression pattern in bladder cancer and paired normal adjacent tissues.

The immune cells and the repertoire of T cells and B cells play an important role in the pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Exploring their expression and distribution in SLE can help us better understand this lethal autoimmune disease. In this study, we used a single-cell 5' RNA sequence and single-cell T cell receptor (TCR)/B cell receptor (BCR) to study the immune cells and the repertoire from ten SLE patients and the paired normal controls (NC).

Blood-brain barrier (BBB) dysfunction is associated with an accumulation of neurotoxic molecules and increased infiltration of peripheral cells within the brain parenchyma. Accruing evidence suggests that microglia and astrocytes play a crucial role in the recovery of BBB integrity and the corralling of infiltrating cells into clusters after brain damage, but the mechanisms involved remain unclear. Intriguingly, the results of flow cytometry and immunofluorescence analyses have shown that BBB permeability to peripheral cells is substantially enhanced during normal aging at 12 months in mice.
