Manganese-based materials are considered as one of the most promising cathodes in zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) for large-scale energy storage applications owing to their cost-effectiveness, natural availability, low toxicity, multivalent states, high operation voltage, and satisfactory capacity. However, their intricate energy storage mechanisms coupled with unsatisfactory cycling stability hinder their commercial applications. Objective: This methodological research aimed to investigate and compare the sensitivity and specificity of conventional and new face validation in identifying incomprehensible items empirically.
Methods: A purposive sample of 15 older people living in three residential care homes (RCHs) in Hong Kong was used to evaluate a newly developed 106 items covering seven quality-of-life dimensions. The abbreviated Mental Test (Hong Kong version; AMT) was used as a screening tool for excluding those with impaired cognition.
W-BiO composites were fabricated using the hot isostatic pressing technique for the first time. The duration of the samples sintering was 3 minutes under conditions of high pressure and temperature. The study of microstructural features and chemical composition of sintered samples was carried out using scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, respectively.

Copper selenide is widely considered to be a promising candidate for high-performance flexible thermoelectrics; however, most of the reported values of copper selenides are unsatisfactory at a relatively low temperature range. Herein, we utilized some wet chemical methods to synthesize a series of copper selenides. XRD, SEM and TEM characterizations revealed that CuSe, CuSe and Cu Se were prepared successfully and possessed different morphologies and sizes.

Precisely tuning the nuclearity of supported metal nanoclusters is pivotal for designing more superior catalytic systems, but it remains practically challenging. By utilising the chemical and molecular specificity of UiO-66-NH (a Zr-based metal-organic framework), we report the controlled synthesis of supported bi- and trinuclear Cu-oxo nanoclusters on the ZrO nodal centres of UiO-66-NH. We revealed the interplay between the surface structures of the active sites, adsorption configurations, catalytic reactivities and associated reaction energetics of structurally related Cu-based 'single atoms' and bi- and trinuclear species over our model photocatalytic formic acid reforming reaction.

Introduction: The benefit and risk of aerobic exercise among older people harboring advanced cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) upon cognition, mood, and motor functions are unknown.
Methods: This rater-blind randomized trial examined effects of a 24-week aerobic exercise training (60 min/session, twice/week) upon clinical (cognition, mood, motor functions) and hemodynamic (pulse pressure [PP], blood pressure [BP], pulsatility index) measures in older people harboring moderate to severe CSVD, as evidenced by confluent white matter hyperintensity and/or ≥2 lacunes on magnetic resonance imaging. We further investigated interactions between treatment conditions and hemodynamics measures.

We use the global Community Earth System Model to investigate the response of secondary pollutants (ozone O, secondary organic aerosols SOA) in different parts of the world in response to modified emissions of primary pollutants during the COVID-19 pandemic. We quantify the respective effects of the reductions in NOx and in volatile organic carbon (VOC) emissions, which, in most cases, affect oxidants in opposite ways. Using model simulations, we show that the level of NOx has been reduced by typically 40% in China during February 2020 and by similar amounts in many areas of Europe and North America in mid-March to mid-April 2020, in good agreement with space and surface observations.
