Objective: Despite the recent increase in the use of minimally invasive approaches to mitral valve surgery in patients with a prior sternotomy, the outcomes of the robotic approach to mitral valve surgery in this patient population have not been examined.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 342 consecutive patients who underwent mitral valve surgery after a prior sternotomy between 2013 and 2020, in which the robotic approach was used in 21 patients (6.1%).

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare the hemodynamic results between the balloon-expandable valve (BEV) SAPIEN (3/ULTRA, Edwards Lifesciences) and self-expanding valve (SEV) Evolut (R/PRO/PRO+, Medtronic) in ViV-TAVR.
Methods: Patients with a failed small (≤23 mm) surgical valve were randomized to receive a BEV or an SEV.

A number of steps need to be considered in this process by the stakeholders involved including physician innovators and scientists, professional societies such as Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions, regulatory agencies, and medical device companies.

Objectives: The TRISCEND study (Edwards EVOQUE Tricuspid Valve Replacement: Investigation of Safety and Clinical Efficacy after Replacement of Tricuspid Valve with Transcatheter Device) is evaluating the safety and performance of transfemoral transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement in patients with clinically significant tricuspid regurgitation (TR) and elevated surgical risk.
Background: Transcatheter valve replacement could lead to a paradigm shift in treating TR and improving patient quality of life.
Methods: In the prospective, single-arm, multicenter TRISCEND study, patients with symptomatic moderate or greater TR, despite medical therapy, underwent percutaneous transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement with the EVOQUE system.

Whether TMVr is cost-effective from a UK National Health Service (NHS) perspective is unknown.
Methods: We used patient-level data from the Cardiovascular Outcomes Assessment of the MitraClip Percutaneous Therapy for Heart Failure Patients with Functional Mitral Regurgitation (COAPT) trial to perform a cost-effectiveness analysis of TMVr +GRMT versus GRMT alone from an NHS perspective.

Background: Transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR) is a new hybrid approach to carotid artery revascularization. Proctored training on live cases is an effort-, time-, and resource-intensive approach to learning new procedures. We analyzed the worldwide experience with TCAR to develop objective performance metrics for the procedure and compared the effectiveness of training physicians using cadavers or synthetic models to that of traditional in-person training on live cases.

Background: The 30-day results from the CLASP study of the PASCAL transcatheter valve repair system for clinically significant mitral regurgitation (MR) have been previously reported.
Methods: Eligible patients had symptomatic MR ≥3+, were receiving optimal medical therapy, and were deemed candidates for transcatheter mitral repair by the local heart team.
