Background: Primary blast lung injury is a common and severe consequence of explosion events, characterized by immediate and delayed effects such as apnea and rapid shallow breathing. The overpressure generated by blasts leads to alveolar and capillary damage, resulting in ventilation-perfusion mismatch and increased intrapulmonary shunting. This reduces the effective gas exchange area, causing hypoxemia and hypercapnia.

This study investigates the role of Fundc1 in cardiac protection under high-altitude hypoxic conditions and elucidates its underlying molecular mechanisms. Using cardiomyocyte-specific knockout ( ) mice, we demonstrated that deficiency exacerbates cardiac dysfunction under simulated high-altitude hypoxia, manifesting as impaired systolic and diastolic function. Mechanistically, we identified that Fundc1 regulates cardiac function through the mitochondrial unfolded protein response (mito-UPR) pathway.

However, the evidence for this claim was obtained from studies that included patients with both primary and secondary PPOI. How primary PPOI affects the hospital length of stay (LOS) and healthcare costs is not well documented.

Background: Sleep deprivation(SD) is known to impair cognitive function and emotional regulation, however, its specific effects on the functional connectivity of visual-related brain regions remain unclear.
Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the impact of 36-h acute sleep deprivation on functional connectivity in visual neural circuits and its relationship with cognitive and emotional changes.
Methods: Sixty healthy male participants were assessed before and after 36 h of sleep deprivation using resting-state fMRI, the Psychomotor Vigilance Task (PVT), the Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), and the Profile of Mood States (POMS).

Background: Mild craniocerebral trauma (CCT) can lead to various neurological and functional impairments, including dysphagia. Dysphagia refers to difficulties with swallowing, which can significantly impact a person's ability to eat, drink, and maintain proper nutrition.
Objective: To explore the application of swallowing-feeding management combined with transcranial electrical stimulation in CCT patients with dysphagia.

Morphine is an opioid commonly used to treat pain in clinic, but it also has the potential to be highly addictive, which can lead to abuse. Despite these known risks, the cellular and molecular mechanism of morphine conditioned place preference (CPP) is still unclear. In this study, using a rat model of chronic morphine administration, we found that compared with the control group, the mRNA and protein expression of HCN2 channel in the ventral tegmental area (VTA) were upregulated.

fertilization (IVF) has revolutionized infertility treatment, benefiting millions of couples worldwide. However, current clinical practices for embryo selection rely heavily on visual inspection of morphology, which is highly variable and experience dependent. Here, we propose a comprehensive artificial intelligence (AI) system that can interpret embryo-developmental knowledge encoded in vast unlabeled multi-modal datasets and provide personalized embryo selection.

Renal pelvic carcinoma is a common upper urothelial cancer. The lack of an ideal model seriously hinders the research progress in the treatment for this disease. This study established a pipeline for the culture of renal pelvic carcinoma organoids based on the tumor tissue samples derived from the patients and tested the organoids to chemotherapeutic drugs.

Piezoelectric nanogenerators (PENGs) are booming for energy collection and wearable energy supply as one of the next generations of green energy-harvesting devices. Balancing the output, safety, degradation, and cost is the key to solving the bottleneck of PENG application. In this regard, yttrium (Y)-doped zinc oxide (ZnO) (Y-ZnO) was synthesized and embedded into polylactide (PLLA) for developing degradable piezoelectric composite films with an enhanced energy-harvesting performance.

Background: Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is an autosomal dominant disease that can give rise to the formation of vascular lesions in affected individuals. These lesions, whether occurring spontaneously or as a result of trauma, have the potential to cause severe and even fatal hemorrhage.
Case Description: We presented a case demonstrating the most extensive hematoma ever documented in a patient with NF1, resulting from a minor trauma.

Number connection test A (NCT-A) and digit symbol test (DST), the preferential neuropsychological tests to detect minimal hepatic encephalopathy (MHE) in China, haven't been standardized in Chinese population. We aimed to establish the norms based on a multi-center cross-sectional study and to detect MHE in cirrhotic patients. NCT-A and DST were administered to 648 healthy controls and 1665 cirrhotic patients.

This study delineated the elucidate molecular changes and their post-translational modifications (PTMs) in heterogenetic colorectal cancer (CRC) for a deeper understanding of the CRC pathophysiology and identifying potential therapeutic targets. In this retrospective study, the profiles of 13 hot spot gene mutations were analyzed and the microsatellite instability (MSI) status was determined.Employing the Circulating Single-Molecule Amplification and Resequencing Technology (cSMART) assay, the clinical-pathological features of CRC were characterized in 249 Chinese patients.

The expression level of SLC35A3 is associated with the prognosis of many cancers, but its role in colorectal cancer (CRC) is unclear. The purpose of our study was to elucidate the role of SLC35A3 in CRC. The expression levels of SLC35A3 in CRC were evaluated through tumor immune resource assessment (TIMER), The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC), Human Protein Atlas (HPA), qRT-PCR, and immunohistochemical evaluation.

Methods: A total of 120 patients with essential hypertension who were not taking drug treatment and were hospitalised in the Department of Cardiology at the authors' hospital from April 2018 to December 2018 were enrolled in this study and divided into a diastolic dysfunction group (65 cases) and a normal diastolic group (55 cases) according to their left ventricular diastolic function. The levels of cardiac parameters, 1-AA, AT1-AA, and other indicators were compared.

Bladder cancer is the most common malignant tumor of urinary system, and its morbidity and mortality are increasing rapidly. Although great advances have been made in medical technology in recent years, there is still a lack of effective prognostic and therapeutic methods for bladder cancer. NETs are reticulated DNA structures decorated with various protein substances released extracellularly by neutrophils stimulated by strong signals.
