Hydrogen sulfide (HS) has been shown to play a significant role in oxidative stress across various tissues and cells; however, its role in sperm function remains poorly understood. This study aimed to investigate the protective effect of GYY4137, a slow-releasing HS compound, on sperm damage induced by HO. We assessed the effects of GYY4137 on motility, viability, lipid peroxidation and caspase-3 activity in human spermatozoa in vitro following oxidative damage mediated by HO.

The growing world population and increasing life expectancy are driving the need to improve the quality of blood transfusion, organ transplantation, and preservation. Here, to improve the ability of red blood cells (RBCs) for normothermic machine perfusion, a biocompatible blood silicification approach termed "shielding-augmenting RBC-in-nanoscale amorphous silica (SARNAS)" has been developed. The key to RBC surface engineering and structure augmentation is the precise control of the hydrolysis form of silicic acid to realize stabilization of RBC within conformal nanoscale silica-based exoskeletons.

Decompression sickness (DCS) is caused by abrupt changes in extracorporeal pressure with varying severity. Symptoms range from mild musculoskeletal pain to severe organ dysfunction and death, especially among patients with chronic underlying disease. Here, we report an unusual case of a 49-year-old man who experienced DCS after a dive to a depth of 38 meters.

Hepatic portal venous gas is often referred to as the "sign of death" because it signifies a very poor prognosis if appropriate treatments are not promptly administered. The etiologies of hepatic portal venous gas are diverse and include severe complex abdominal infections, mesenteric ischemia, diving, and complications of endoscopic surgery, and the clinical manifestations are inconsistent among individual patients. Thus, whether emergency surgery should be performed remains controversial.

GnRH analogues were widely used for controlld ovary stimulation, but their effects on oocyte quality remain contradictory. This study aimed to explore the influence of GnRH analogues on oocyte quality in mice. A total of 120 mice were randomly assigned to four groups:(i)GnRH-a+PMSG group; (ii) GnRH-ant+PMSG group; (iii) PMSG group; (iv) Control group.

In this report, we present a case study of a 64-year-old female who was diagnosed with gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) and subsequently developed liver metastases despite undergoing radical resection. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) assays indicated that the tumor lacked ( pathways, ) mutations, thereby classifying this patient as quadruple WT GIST (qGIST). Treatment with imatinib was initiated, and after 2.

Background: Follicular microenvironment has been proposed as an important factor for oocyte grown and maturation. We sought to evaluate the oxidative stress and inflammatory levels in follicular fluid (FF) and association with embryo quality in patients with diminished ovarian reserve (DOR).
Methods: The current research included 46 DOR cases and 56 normal ovarian reserve (NOR) cases.

Although it has become a consensus in the field of colorectal surgery to perform radical tumor treatment and functional protection under the minimally invasive concept, there exist many controversies during clinical practice, including the concept of embryonic development of abdominal organs and membrane anatomy, the principle of membrane anatomy related to right hemicolectomy, D3 resection, and identification of the inner boundary. In this paper, we analyzed recently reported literature with high-level evidence and clinical data from the author's hospital to recognize and review the membrane anatomy-based laparoscopic assisted right hemicolectomy for right colon cancer, emphasizing the importance of priority of surgical dissection planes, vascular orientation, and full understanding of the fascial space, and proposing that the surgical planes should be dissected in the parietal-prerenal fascial space, and the incision should be 1 cm from the descending and horizontal part of the duodenum. The surgery should be performed according to a standard procedure with strict quality control.

The triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) microenvironment makes a feature of aberrant vasculature, high interstitial pressure, and compact extracellular matrix, which combine to reduce the delivery and penetration of therapeutic agents, bringing about incomplete elimination of cancer cells. Herein, employing the tumor penetration strategy of size-shrinkage combined with ligand modification, we constructed a photothermal nanocluster for cascaded deep penetration in tumor parenchyma and efficient eradication of TNBC cells. In our approach, the photothermal agent indocyanine green (ICG) is laded in human serum albumin (HSA), which is cross-linked by a thermally labile azo linker (VA057) and then further modified with a tumor homing/penetrating tLyP-1 peptide (HP), resulting in a TNBC-targeting photothermal-responsive size-switchable albumin nanocluster (ICG@HSA-Azo-HP).

Aims: Rheumatic heart disease (RHD) remains a major global health problem. Renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system inhibitors (RAASi) are commonly administered in the treatment of cardiovascular disease, but its role in RHD patients is still limited. We performed a retrospective study to determine the effect of RAASi on long-term outcomes for RHD patients.

There is a dearth of effective parameters for selecting potentially transplantable liver grafts from expanded-criteria donors. In this study, we used a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) relaxation analyzer-based assay to assess the viability of ex vivo livers obtained via porcine donation after circulatory death (DCD). Ex situ normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) was utilized as a platform for viability test of porcine DCD donor livers.

During tumorigenesis, tumor infiltrating regulatory T (Treg) cells restrict the function of effector T cells in tumor microenvironment and thereby promoting tumor growth. The anti-tumor activity of effector T cells can be therapeutically unleashed, and is now being exploited for the treatment of various types of human cancers. However, the immune suppressive function of Treg cells remains a major hurdle to broader effectiveness of tumor immunotherapy.
