Spinal cord injury (SCI) induces severe neuroinflammation, and subsequently neurological dysfunction. Activated microglia are critical for modulation of neuroinflammation. Protein tyrosine phosphatase receptor type O (PTPRO), a member of protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs), exerts a pro-inflammatory role in multiple human diseases; however, its role in SCI remains unclarified.

Purpose: Wet bio-amniotic membrane plugging combined with transplantation is a novel option that combined amniotic membrane plugging with amniotic membrane transplantation for the treatment of small corneal perforations. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of wet bio-amniotic membrane plugging in the treatment of small corneal perforations and compared it with that of the penetrating keratoplasty procedure.
Methods: Forty patients (41 eyes) with small corneal perforations <3 mm in diameter treated at our hospital between July 2018 and January 2021 were retrospectively included.

Background: Pulmonary vein isolation with wide antral ablation leads to better clinical outcomes for the treatment of atrial fibrillation, but the isolation lesion is invisible in conventional cryoballoon ablation. In this study, we aim to investigate the efficacy of the wide pulmonary vein isolation technique that includes the intervenous carina region, guided by high-density mapping, compared with pulmonary vein isolation alone without the mapping system.
Methods: We conducted a propensity score-matched comparison of 74 patients who underwent a wide cryoballoon ablation guided by high-density mapping (mapping group) and 74 controls who underwent conventional cryoballoon ablation in the same period (no-mapping group).

Aims: The aims of this study were to explore the molecular mechanism of mitophagy in multiple myeloma (MM) and to develop an effective prognostic signature for the disease based on mitophagy-related genes (MRGs).
Methods: Three gene sets from the Reactome database were used to explore MRGs, following which those that were differentially expressed between MM and normal samples were investigated using the data from the Genomic Data Commons-Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation-CoMMpass Study. Mitophagy-related molecular subtypes of MM were identified and their immune infiltration, associated patient survival rates, immune checkpoint genes, and mitophagy scores were compared.

The most prevalent kind of primary brain tumors, gliomas, have a dismal prognosis. Recent advances in the tumor-promoting ability of OTX1 have drawn increasing attention. The overexpression of OTX1 has been reported to be associated with tumor-promoting effects in several malignancies, but its expression in gliomas is unknown.

Tenecteplase (TNK), a newer fibrinolytic agent with greater fibrin specificity and longer half-life than alteplase, may has practical advantages over alteplase in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) thrombolysis. We aimed to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to compare different doses of TNK (0.1, 0.

To investigate the surgical efficacy of neurosurgery robot deep brain stimulation(DBS) in the treatment of elderly Parkinson's disease(PD). The clinical data of elderly patients (≥75 years) with PD who underwent neurosurgical robot-assisted DBS surgery in the Department of Neurosurgery of the General Hospital of Northern Theater Command from September 2016 to September 2022 were collected retrospectively. Operation time, electrode implantation duration, postoperative pneumocephalus volume, electrode implantation accuracy, the Tao's DBS surgery scale, perioperative complications were analyzed.

Over the past decades, liquid biopsy, especially circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA), has received tremendous attention as a noninvasive detection approach for clinical applications, including early diagnosis of cancer and relapse, real-time therapeutic efficacy monitoring, potential target selection and investigation of drug resistance mechanisms. In recent years, the application of next-generation sequencing technology combined with AI technology has significantly improved the accuracy and sensitivity of liquid biopsy, enhancing its potential in solid tumors. However, the increasing integration of such promising tests to improve therapy decision making by oncologists still has complexities and challenges.

Heart transplantation (HT) has become the preferred treatment for end-stage heart disease, but postoperative complications such as infection still threaten the prognosis of HT patients. Basiliximab can help minimize immune rejection. However, there is a lack of relevant information to compare the prognosis of different immunosuppression regimens.

The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between rapid eye movement (REM) sleep duration and laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). In all, 99 patients with OSA were enrolled in this study, and the correlation between REM sleep duration and the severity of LPR was analyzed after the polysomnography (PSG) and reflux symptom index (RSI) scores were completed. Subsequently, a multiple linear regression analysis was performed to further clarify the factors affecting LPR.

Purpose: To evaluate the percentage of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) patients with retrolingual obstruction in all moderate-severe OSA patients and the proportions of different causes in all moderate-severe OSA patients with retrolingual obstruction and to discuss the accuracy of the Friedman tongue position (FTP) and retrolingual cross-sectional area (RCSA) in assessing the retrolingual obstruction.
Methods: Two hundred and twenty moderate-severe OSA patients were enrolled. After retrolingual obstruction was diagnosed, the percentage of OSA patients with retrolingual obstruction in all moderate-severe OSA patients was calculated.

Central pontine myelinolysis (CPM) is a heterogeneous nervous system disease of pontine demyelination, usually caused by rapid correction of hyponatremia. In the present study, we report a unique case of a 46-year-old man with a hyperglycemic state complicated with CPM. MRI demonstrated a high signal on T2 and symmetric restricted diffusion in the pontine.

Background: Bachmann's bundle (BB) is the main pathway of interatrial connection that could be involved in the development of atrial fibrillation (AF). Based on this hypothesis, we raised a novel ablation strategy, BB modification in addition to circumferential pulmonary vein isolation (CPVI-BB) in patients with AF.
Methods: A retrospective cohort of patients with AF who underwent CPVI-BB or CPVI alone from March 2018 to July 2021 was enrolled in our study.

Introduction: Bowel wall thickening is commonly observed in liver cirrhosis, but few studies have explored its impact on the long-term outcomes of patients with cirrhosis.
Methods: Overall, 118 patients with decompensated cirrhosis were retrospectively enrolled, in whom maximum wall thickness of small bowel, ascending colon, transverse colon, descending colon, sigmoid colon, and rectum could be measured in computed tomography (CT) images. X-tile software was employed to determine the best cut-off values of each segment of bowel wall thickness for predicting the risk of further decompensation and death.

Background: The carcinogenesis of stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD) involves many different molecules and multiple pathways, including the NOTCH signaling pathway. As a key factor that functions as a critical link in the NOTCH pathway, mind bomb 1 () is upregulated in various tumors and has been reported to promote cell metastasis and invasion. However, studies on the role of in STAD are limited.

Introduction: As a leading cause of pregnancy and fetal mortality, pre-eclampsia impacts about 5-8% of pregnancies globally. To date, few studies have focused on the role played by (NOD)-like receptors protein 3 (NLRP3) in peripheral blood in early-onset pre-eclampsia (PE). In this study, we investigated whether NLRP3 expression in monocytes before 20 weeks of gestation was associated with an increased risk of early-onset PE.
