[Analysis on regional homogeneity of resting brain during balance acupuncture-induced analgesic effect in migraine patients without aura].

Objective: To observe the relationship between the analgesic effect of balance acupuncture and functional changes in brain in patients with migraine without aura.

Methods: A total of 40 cases of migraine without aura were equally randomized into a headache-acupoint group and a sham-acupoint group. When acupuncture given, a filiform needle was inserted into the headache-acupoint (the midpoint of the depression region anterior to the juncture of the first and second metatarsal bones on the dorsum of the foot) or the sham point (the midpoint of the depression region anterior to the juncture site between the 3 and 4 metatarsal joints of the dorsum of the foot) about 25-40 mm deep and manipulated for a while till the patient experienced feelings of electric shock and numbness, then withdrawn immediately.

Raf-1 kinase inhibitor protein (RKIP) is a tumor and metastasis suppressor in cancer cells. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been suggested to play a vital role in tumor initiation and progression by negatively regulating oncogenes and tumor suppressors. Quite recently, studies have identified some miRNAs operating to promote or suppress tumor invasion or metastasis via regulating metastasis-related genes, providing potential therapeutic targets on anti-metastasis strategy.

Relation between the testicular sperm assay and sex hormone level in patients with azoospermia induced by mumps.

This study aimed to investigate the relation between the testicular sperm assay (TESA) and sex hormone level or testicular volume in patients with azoospermia induced by mumps. Samples from 52 patients with mumps-induced azoospermia were subjected to TESA, and then the sperm activity was observed microscopically. The sex hormone level was detected with an electrochemical assay, and ultrasound was used to calculate the testicular volume.

Infant pleuropulmonary blastoma: report of a rare case and review of literature.

In infants, pleuropulmonary blastoma is a rare but aggressive tumor. The typical histopathological presentation includes the aggregation of malignant primitive small cells, usually observed in sheets. So as to provide proper and timely treatment, the differential diagnosis includes pulmonary blastoma, sarcomatoid mesothelioma, fetal rhabdomyoma, synovial sarcoma, and primitive neuroectodermal tumor.

Background: Hypertrophic scars (HPSs) are characterized by excessive fibrosis associated with aberrant function of fibroblasts. Currently no satisfactory treatment has been developed.

Neonatal outcomes of very preterm infants from a neonatal intensive care center.

Background: Information about clinical outcomes of very preterm (VPT) infants in tertiary neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) setting is scant in China. This study aimed to investigate the mortality and morbidity of VPT infants admitted to BaYi Children's Hospital, which serves as a NICU referral center for the city of Beijing, China.

Methods: Retrospectively collected perinatal/neonatal data on all admissions of infants born at <32 weeks of gestational age and subsequently admitted to the VPTNICU from clinical records between October 2010 and September 2011.

[Genetic analysis of a supernumerary derivative chromosome 15].

Objective: To detect and analyze a supernumerary derivative chromosome 15 with combined cytogenetic and molecular techniques, and to discuss the correlation between genomic copy number variations (CNVs) and clinical phenotypes.

Methods: G-banded chromosome analysis and multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MLPA) were carried out. The whole genome of the patient was also analyzed with array-comparative genome hybridization(array-CGH).

[The development of FSCLZLY--an ascites-ultrafiltration instrument].

It's known to all that the refractory ascites treatment has so far been a very difficult clinical problem. We have extracted much experience from the practical techniques used in the refractory ascites treatments of more than 1,000 cases, and have developed the ascites ultrafiltration & concentration therapeutic instrument--FSCLZLY-A. The clinical applications show that it is very effective.
