Background: The arterial stiffening is attributed to the intrinsic structural stiffening and/or load-dependent stiffening by increased blood pressure (BP). The respective lifetime alterations and major determinants of the two components with normal aging are not clear.
Methods: A total of 3053 healthy adults (1922 women) aged 18-79 years were enrolled.

Many long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been found to play crucial roles in sepsis-induced acute kidney injury (AKI), including lncRNA nuclear-enriched abundant transcript 1 (NEAT1). We aimed to further elucidate the functions and molecular mechanism of NEAT1 in sepsis-induced AKI. Sepsis-induced AKI cell model was established by treatment with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in human tubule epithelial (HK2) cells.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) accounts for 90% of oral cavity cancer types, but the overall prognosis for patients with OSCC remains unfavorable. Cisplatin (DDP) is an effective drug in OSCC treatment, but DDP resistance weakens its therapeutic effect. Opa-interacting protein 5 antisense RNA 1 (OIP5-AS1) can trigger DDP resistance.

Background: China was the first country in the world to experience a large-scale COVID-19 outbreak. The rapid spread of the disease and enforcement of public health measures has caused distress among vulnerable populations such as pregnant women. With a limited understanding of the novel, emerging infectious disease, pregnant women have sought ways to access timely and trusted health care information.

The objective of this study is to investigate the anticancer potential of ginsenoside Rg1 using and experimental models. In this study, we found that ginsenoside Rg1 induces cytotoxicity and apoptotic cell death through reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and alterations in mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) in the triple-negative breast cancer cells (MDA-MB-MD-231 cell lines). We found that ginsenoside Rg1 induces the formation of gamma H2AX foci, an indication of DNA damage, and subsequent TUNEL positive apoptotic nuclei in the MDA-MB-MD-231 cell lines.

Background: Despite the fact that the majority of gallstones formed in the gallbladder are mainly composed of cholesterol, as they are formed from cholesterol-supersaturated bile, and hypercholesterolemia is a common metabolic disorder, which is closely related to cardiac, hepatic, renal and other oxidative damage inflammation and necrosis, there is still no consensus regarding the contribution of blood serum lipids in the pathogenesis of gallbladder stone disease (GSD). This study aimed to investigate the relationship between hypercholesterolemia and the risk of new-onset asymptomatic GSD, and to determine the prevalence of factors associated with new-onset asymptomatic GSD in patients with hypercholesterolemia.
Methods: In this study, 927 Chinese patients with new-onset asymptomatic gallstone disease and 845 healthy controls were enrolled starting from August 2012.

Osteosarcoma (OS) is one of the most primary bone malignancies, often occurring in adolescents or children. Numerous scientific findings have introduced that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) can be involved in tumor occurrence and development. Although DSCAM-AS1 has been studied in several cancers, its role and mechanism in OS are poorly understood.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is considered to be one of the most lethal cancer types globally, and its recurrence is a major treatment challenge. Identifying the factors involved when determining the risk of CRC recurrence is required to improve personalized therapy for patients with CRC. Based on the GSE39582 dataset, the present study demonstrated that a higher ratio of M1 macrophages and activated memory CD4 T cells indicated a better recurrence-free survival (RFS) time for CRC, using CIBERSORT and Pearson's correlation analysis.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive health issue and influences an increasingly larger number of people, especially at older ages, affecting the central nervous system (CNS). Alpha-synuclein is a biomarker closely correlated with the CNS and PD. The loss of neuronal cells in the substantia nigra leads to the aggregation of alpha-synuclein in the form of Lewy bodies, and Lewy neuritis is a neuropathological hallmark.

Aberrant activation of Wnt/β‑catenin signaling is observed in >90% of colorectal cancer cases. microRNAs (miRNAs) regulate the expression of key genes in Wnt/β‑catenin signaling. As a result, abnormal expression of miRNAs regulates the activation of Wnt/β‑catenin signaling in several types of cancer.
