Drug-resistant bacteria infected wounds often bring high risks of delayed healing process and even death. Sonodynamic therapy (SDT) can efficiently kill drug-resistant bacteria. However, superabundant reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated during SDT inevitably trigger significant inflammatory responses, hindering tissue remodeling.

Objective: Surgery to correct the cervicothoracic kyphotic deformity in ankylosing spondylitis (AS) can be associated with serious neurovascular risks. According to the literature, there are no clinical reports documenting the use of vertebral column decancellation (VCD) in the treatment of cervicothoracic kyphotic deformity in patients with AS. The purpose of the present study was to retrospectively analyze and evaluate the effect of VCD on cervicothoracic kyphotic deformity in patients with AS.

Multi-wavelength emission fluorescent manganese-nitrogen co-doped carbon dots (Mn, N co-doped CDs) were synthesized by solvothermal method using β-cyclodextrin, O-phenylenediamine, and manganese chloride as raw materials. The prepared Mn, N co-doped CDs were used as fluorescent nanosensing platforms for the detection of metal ions and biomolecules and were found to be capable of fluorescence detection of tannic acid (TA) and hafnium (Hf) ion at 320, 380, and 480 nm excitation wavelengths with multi-response linear ranges of 0.7 ~ 1.

Background: This study systematically reviews recent research comparing clinical outcomes and gait function changes in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) versus unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA).
Methods: A systematic search of the Web of Science, PubMed, and Embase databases was conducted, covering publications from January 2013 to September 2024, to identify studies evaluating changes in clinical scores and gait parameters in patients undergoing TKA or UKA. Following stringent selection criteria, data were synthesized from studies involving 171 TKA and 148 UKA patients, focusing on reported gait outcomes and aggregating findings for comprehensive analysis.

Background Context: The management of metastatic spinal disease presents a complex challenge, with no universally accepted guidelines currently available. A new treatment approach, termed the "SENO" (Systemic Conditions, Effectiveness of Systemic Treatment, Neurology, and Oncology) decision framework, was developed, incorporating a 12-point grading system for epidural spinal cord compression.
Purpose: This study aims to assess the clinical efficacy of the SENO decision framework and compare its outcomes with those from traditional treatment frameworks.

Aerobic glycolysis is a hallmark of cancer and is regulated by growth factors, protein kinases and transcription factors. However, it remains poorly understood how these components interact to regulate aerobic glycolysis coordinately. Here, we show that sine oculis homeobox 1 (SIX1) phosphorylation integrates growth factors (e.

Background: Deep partial-thickness burns have a significant impact on both the physical and mental health of patients. Our previous study demonstrated human Umbilical Cord Mesenchymal stem cells (hUCMSCs) could enhance the healing of severe burns in small animal burn models, such as rats. Furthermore, our team has developed a deep partial-thickness burn model in Bama miniature pigs, which can be utilized for assessing drug efficacy in preclinical trials for wound healing.

The rising prevalence of global antibiotic resistance evokes the urgent requirement to explore the alternative antimicrobial candidates. It is of great significance to overcome these serious threats of multidrug-resistant bacterial infections and difficult-to-heal cutaneous wounds to human health. Herein, we proposed a rapidly in situ forming innovative antibiotic-free hydrogel dressing with excellent biocompatibility, easy injectability, strong tissue adhesion and superior antibacterial activity against drug-resistant bacteria.

Background And Objectives: Autologous skin graft (ASG) transplantation is a challenging approach but a promising option for patients to prevent postoperative esophageal stricture. Nonetheless, the current strategies require improvement. We aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the injection of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) before skin graft transplantation for extensive esophageal defects after endoscopic resection.

Utilizing transplanted human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (HUMSCs) for cartilage defects yielded advanced tissue regeneration, but the underlying mechanism remain elucidated. Early after HUMSCs delivery to the defects, we observed substantial apoptosis. The released apoptotic vesicles (apoVs) of HUMSCs promoted cartilage regeneration by alleviating the chondro-immune microenvironment.

Accurately distinguishing tumor cells from normal cells is a key issue in tumor diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment. Fluorescence-based immunohistochemistry as the standard method faces the inherent challenges of the heterogeneity of tumor cells and the lack of big data analysis of probing images. Here, we have demonstrated a machine learning-driven imaging method for rapid pathological diagnosis of five types of cancers (breast, colon, liver, lung, and stomach) using a perovskite nanocrystal probe.
