The purpose of this study was to present the surgical technique of Unilateral Biportal Endoscopic (UBE) decompression combined with percutaneous pedicle screws for the treatment of thoracolumbar burst fractures with secondary spinal stenosis. Thoracolumbar burst fracture is a common traumatic disease in spinal surgery. In the Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Osteosynthesefragen (AO) classification of thoracolumbar fractures, Type A fractures have the highest incidence, accounting for about 70%, with A1 and A3 types being the most common.

Ferroptosis is characterized as an iron-dependent and lipophilic form of cell death. However, it remains unclear what role ferroptosis has in adipose tissue function and activity. Here, we find a lower ferroptotic signature in the adipose tissue of individuals and mice with obesity.

A total of 387 clinical studies and 18 systematic reviews/Meta-analysis involving 45 Chinese patent medicines commonly used in the treatment of hyperlipidemia in recent ten years were retrieved from Chinese and English academic publication databases. The article information was extracted by reading the abstract and full text, and the evidence of publication trend, combined medication, intervention course, complications, and outcome indicators was sorted out.

The histone locus body (HLB) is a membraneless organelle that determines the transcription of replication-dependent histones. However, the mechanisms underlying the appropriate formation of the HLB in the nucleus but not in the cytoplasm remain unknown. HLB formation is dependent on the scaffold protein NPAT.

Acute lung injury (ALI)/acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a severe inflammatory condition that remains refractory; however, its molecular mechanisms are largely unknown. Previous studies have shown numerous compounds containing 4-indolyl-2-aminopyrimidine that display strong anti-inflammatory properties. In our research, we identified that a 4-Indole-2-Arylaminopyrimidine derivative named "IAAP" suppressed lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation.

ER-phagy is an evolutionarily conserved mechanism crucial for maintaining cellular homeostasis. However, significant gaps persist in our understanding of how ER-phagy and the ER network vary across cell subtypes, tissues, and organs. Furthermore, the pathophysiological relevance of ER-phagy remains poorly elucidated.

The remarkably increase in plastic use has led to worldwide pollution involving microplastics (MPs), which have been shown to be potentially hazardous substances. Although several studies have focused on the effects of small MPs on the brain and behavior of aquatic species, their effects on the mouse brain and the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Our study's aim was to investigate the effects of long-term oral ingestion of different sizes of MPs (0.

In this manuscript, we have investigated the dielectric and antibacterial potential of hydrothermally synthesized ZnMnO nanoparticles. The synthesized nanoparticles were annealed at various temperatures ranging from 450 to 650 °C with a step of 50 °C to modulate the structural, vibrational, dielectric, and antibacterial properties. XRD data confirmed the hexagonal structure of the synthesized samples and crystalline size was decreased to 4.

Introduction: Biportal endoscopy, a newly developed technique rapidly applied in lumbar spine surgery, has recently been utilized for treating cervical spine diseases. We present a case of cervical spondylotic myelopathy managed with open-door laminoplasty fixed by mini-plate and performed with biportal endoscopy assistance.
Presentation Of Case: The patient, a 62-year-old woman, presented with gradually developing weakness in the lower extremities.

Background: RNA pseudouridylation is a critical post-transcriptional modification that influences gene expression and impacts various biological functions. Despite its significance, the role of mRNA pseudouridylation in cancer remains poorly understood. This study investigates the impact of pseudouridine synthase 7 (PUS7)-mediated pseudouridylation of Alpha-ketoglutarate-dependent Dioxygenase alkB Homolog 3 (ALKBH3) mRNA in gastric cancer.

Long-chain free fatty acids (FFAs) accumulation and oxidative toxicity is a major cause for several pathological conditions. The mechanisms underlying FFA cytotoxicity remain elusive. Here we show that palmitic acid (PA), the most abundant FFA in the circulation, induces S403 phosphorylation of SQSTM1/p62 (sequestosome 1) and its aggregation, which sequesters KEAP1 and activates the non-canonical SQSTM1-KEAP1-NFE2L2 antioxidant pathway.

Introduction: The cingulate cortex, with its subregions ACC, MCC, and RSC, is key in pain processing. However, the detailed interactions among these regions in modulating pain sensation have remained unclear.
Methods: In this study, chemogenetic tools were employed to selectively activate or inhibit neuronal activity in the MCC and RSC of rodents to elucidate their roles in pain regulation.

Although tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy has markedly improved the survival of people with chronic-phase chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), 20% to 30% of people still experienced therapy failure. Data from 1955 consecutive patients with chronic-phase CML diagnosed by the European LeukemiaNet recommendations from 1 center receiving initial imatinib or a second-generation (2G) TKI therapy were interrogated to develop a clinical prediction model for TKI-therapy failure. This model was subsequently validated in 3454 patients from 76 other centers.

Mucormycosis has become more prevalent during the COVID-19 pandemic and is associated with a high mortality rate. However, concurrent host allergic reactions, invasive pulmonary mucormycosis, and disseminated mucormycosis are rarely reported. Herein, we describe a case of disseminated mucormycosis initially misdiagnosed as a malignancy that developed from allergic bronchopulmonary mycosis caused by in a woman with post-SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Macroautophagic/autophagic and endocytic pathways play essential roles in maintaining homeostasis at different levels. It remains poorly understood how both pathways are coordinated and fine-tuned for proper lysosomal degradation of diverse cargoes. We and others recently identified a Golgi-resident RAB GTPase, RAB2A, as a positive regulator that controls both autophagic and endocytic pathways.

Accumulating evidence has substantiated the potential of ambient particulate matter (PM) to elicit detrimental health consequences in the respiratory system, notably airway inflammation. Macrophages, a pivotal component of the innate immune system, assume a crucial function in responding to exogenous agents. However, the roles and detailed mechanisms in regulating PM-induced airway inflammation remain unclear.
