The role of fat mass and obesity-associated protein (FTO)-mediated N6-methyladenosine (m6A)-demethylation has been investigated in various types of cancers, but it is still unclear whether FTO participates in the progression of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Here, by conducting Real-Time qPCR and Western Blot analysis, we verified that FTO was especially enriched in the DLBCL cells (RCK-8, LY-3, DHL-6 and U2932) compared to normal WIL2S cells. Then, the overexpression and silencing vectors for FTO were delivered into the LY-3 and U2932 cells, and our functional experiments confirmed that silencing of FTO suppressed cell viability and division, and induced apoptotic cell death in the DLBCL cells, whereas FTO-overexpression exerted opposite effects.

Background: Approximately 40-70% of older adults who have experienced falls develop fear of falling (FOF), with the incidence rate in nursing home residents reaching as high as 79.4%. An increasing number of studies have focused on the effect of the Otago Exercise Programme (OEP) on reducing FOF among older adults, yet comprehensive analysis is lacking due to regional and demographic variations.

Background: Currently, the diagnosis of postneurosurgical intracranial infection is mainly dependent on cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) bacterial culture, which has the disadvantages of being time-consuming, having a low detection rate, and being easily affected by other factors. These disadvantages bring some difficulties to early diagnosis. Therefore, it is very important to construct a nomogram model to predict the risk of infection and provide a basis for early diagnosis and treatment.

Introduction: Disrupted in schizophrenia-1 (DISC1) is a scaffolding protein whose mutated form has been linked to schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorders, and recurrent major depression. DISC1 regulates multiple signaling pathways involved in neurite outgrowth and cortical development and binds directly to glycogen synthase kinase-3β (GSK-3β). Since ketamine activates GSK-3β, we examined the impact of ketamine on DISC1 and GSK-3β expression.

N-acetyltransferase 10 (Nat10) is recently identified as the key enzyme for the N4-acetylcytidine (ac4C) modification of mRNAs. In this study, we investigated the role of Nat10 in cardiac fibrosis following myocardial infarction (MI) and the related mechanisms.

Background: Liver kinase B1 (LKB1) is frequently mutated in lung adenocarcinoma, and its loss contributes to tumor progression.
Methods: To identify LKB1 downstream genes that promote lung adenocarcinoma aggressiveness, we performed bioinformatical analysis using publicly available datasets.
Results: Rab3B was upregulated in LKB1-depleted lung adenocarcinoma cells and suppressed by LKB1 overexpression.

Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) significantly affects the prognosis of surgical patients with inguinal hernia. The complex Caprini score, commonly used for postoperative VTE risk assessment, poses practical challenges for surgeons in clinical settings.
Methods: The CHAT-3 trial, a prospective, multicenter, randomized controlled trial, compared a simple three-factor model to assess VTE risk against routine practices in postinguinal hernia surgery (IHS) patients.

Small non-coding ribonucleic acids (sncRNAs) play an important role in cell regulation and are closely related to the pathogenesis of heart diseases. However, the role and molecular mechanism of transfer RNA-derived small RNAs (tsRNAs) in myocardial fibrosis after myocardial infarction (MI) remain unknown. In this study, we identified and validated sncRNAs (mainly miRNA and tsRNA) associated with myocardial fibrosis after MI through PANDORA sequencing of rat myocardial tissue.

Ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) is a pathological process that occurs in numerous organs and is often associated with severe cellular damage and death. Ectodysplasin-A2 receptor (EDA2R) is a member of the TNF receptor family that has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. However, to the best of our knowledge, its role in the progression of myocardial I/R injury remains unclear.

Angiogenesis, or the formation of new blood vessels, is a natural defensive mechanism that aids in the restoration of oxygen and nutrition delivery to injured brain tissue after an ischemic stroke. Angiogenesis, by increasing vessel development, may maintain brain perfusion, enabling neuronal survival, brain plasticity, and neurologic recovery. Induction of angiogenesis and the formation of new vessels aid in neurorepair processes such as neurogenesis and synaptogenesis.
