The close interaction of mitochondrial fission and mitophagy, two crucial mechanisms, is key in the progression of myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injury. However, the upstream regulatory mechanisms governing these processes remain poorly understood. Here, we demonstrate a marked elevation in Nr4a1 expression following myocardial IR injury, which is associated with impaired cardiac function, heightened cardiomyocyte apoptosis, exacerbated inflammatory responses, and endothelial dysfunction.

To investigate the role and mechanism of miR-342 and FOXP1 on hepatocellular carcinoma cells. QRT-PCR was applied to determine the expression of miR-342, FOXP1 and MYCBP in normal hepatocyte cell lines (NHC), hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines (HEK-293 T) and human hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines (HepG2, MHCC97-L, Huh7 and SMMC7721). After knockdown or over-expression of miR-342 and FOXP1 in HepG2 cells respectively, cell proliferation and cell viability were measured using MTT assay and colony formation assay.

Objective: To construct a nomogram model for the risk of venous thromboembolism after spinal surgery based on thromboelastography and coagulation indices and give relevant verification.
Methods: Two hundred seventy-seven patients who underwent spinal surgery for spinal fractures admitted to our hospital were selected as the research subjects. According to whether venous thromboembolism occurred after surgery, they were divided into an occurrence group (confirmed by ultrasound or venography) of 34 cases and an absence group of 243 cases.

Background: Colonic epithelial cell apoptosis and pyroptosis had a close relationship with the pathological progression of ulcerative colitis (UC). LncRNA play a crucial role in the progression of UC. However, the role of the lncRNA MALAT1 in colonic epithelial cell apoptosis and pyroptosis remains unclear.

Background: Polymethoxylated flavones (PMFs) are compounds present in citrus peels and other Rutaceae plants, which exhibit diverse biological activities, including robust antitumor and antioxidant effects. However, the mechanism of PMFs in reversing drug resistance to colon cancer remains unknown. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the potential connection between the aerobic glycolysis-ROS-autophagy signaling axis and the reversal of PTX resistance in colon cancer by PMFs.

Dermoscopy images can help clinicians for timely identification of cancer, but manual diagnosis is time-consuming, costly, and prone to human error. To conduct this, an innovative deep learning-based approach has been proposed for automatic melanoma detection.

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), a common gamma herpesvirus, establishes a life-long latent infection in the host to defend against innate immune recognition, which is closely related to a variety of malignant tumors, but its specific mechanism is unclear. BFRF3, an EBV-encoded small capsid protein, is mainly involved in the assembly of the viral capsid structure and the maintenance of its stability. Here, we showed that BFRF3 can inhibit TNF-α-mediated NF-кB promoter activation.

Background: Lung cancer accounts for a significant proportion of cancer-related deaths in China, with the majority of the cases being classified as non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The study aimed to investigate the expression of serum SNHG22 in patients with NSCLC, and its molecular mechanism and prognostic potential in NSCLC.
Methods: Admitted 125 NSCLC patients were selected for the study, along with 125 healthy individuals in the same period.

Background: To apply machine learning (ML) algorithms to perform multiclass diabetic retinopathy (DR) classification using both clinical data and optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA).
Methods: In this cross-sectional observational study, clinical data and OCTA parameters from 203 diabetic patients (203 eye) were used to establish the ML models, and those from 169 diabetic patients (169 eye) were used for independent external validation. The random forest, gradient boosting machine (GBM), deep learning and logistic regression algorithms were used to identify the presence of DR, referable DR (RDR) and vision-threatening DR (VTDR).

Ovarian cancer is a malignant tumor originating from the ovary, characterized by its high mortality rate and propensity for recurrence. In some patients, especially those with recurrent cancer, conventional treatments such as surgical resection or standard chemotherapy yield suboptimal results. Consequently, there is an urgent need for novel anti-cancer therapeutic strategies.

Objective: Computed Tomography (CT) or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) are considered gold standards for measuring visceral fat area (VFA). However, their relatively high prices and potential radiation exposure limit their widespread use in clinical practice and everyday life. Therefore, our study aims to develop a VFA estimated equation based on sagittal abdominal diameter (SAD) and transverse abdominal diameter (TAD) using anthropometric indexes.

Background And Objectives: The incidence of imminent new vertebral fracture (NVF) is notably high after vertebral augmentation (VA), but accurately assessing the imminent risk of NVF remains a great challenge. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the MRI-based vertebral bone quality (VBQ) score can predict the risk of imminent NVF after VA within a 2-year period.
Methods: A total of 135 patients age 50 years and older who suffered from painful osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture and treated with VA were enrolled in this retrospective study.

Proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS) is the only non-invasive technique to quantify neurometabolic compounds in the living brain. We used 1H-MRS to evaluate the brain metabolites in a rat model of Sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE) established by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP). 36 male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into sham and CLP groups.

Immunogenic cell death (ICD) is associated with the release of damage-associated molecular patterns, including ATP, to promote an effective immune cycle against tumors. However, tumors have evolved an effective strategy for degrading extracellular immunostimulatory ATP via the ATP-adenosine axis, allowing the sequential action of the ectonucleotidases CD39 to degrade accumulated immunostimulatory ATP into pleiotropic immunosuppressive adenosine. Here, an ingenious dissolving microneedle patch (DMNs) is designed for the intralesional delivery of CD39 inhibitor (sodium polyoxotungstate, POM-1) and ICD inducer (IR780) co-encapsulated solid lipid nanoparticles (P/I SLNs) for antitumor therapy.

The tripartite interaction motif (TRIM) family of proteins is known for their antiviral activity through different mechanisms, such as interfering with viral components, regulating immune responses, and participating in autophagy-mediated defense pathways. In this study, we investigated the role of tripartite interaction motif 26 (TRIM26), which is encoded by a major histocompatibility complex (MHC) gene, in regulating Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection of nasopharyngeal epithelial cells. We found that TRIM26 expression was induced upon EBV infection and that it indirectly targeted EphA2, a crucial epithelial receptor for EBV entry.
