Article Synopsis
  • - Hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage (HICH) leads to high rates of disability and is primarily managed with conservative treatments, especially in older adults, despite limited success in improving long-term outcomes.
  • - Recent advancements in minimally invasive surgical techniques and Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) have improved the identification of hematoma locations relative to the Corticospinal Tract (CST), allowing for safer surgical planning and reduced risk of additional injury.
  • - This study aims to compare the effectiveness of minimally invasive surgery versus conservative management by evaluating patients' daily living activities after 6 months, alongside other outcomes such as hematoma clearance, complication rates, and long-term safety over 2-3 years.

Background: The efficacy of surgical intervention in ameliorating long-term prognosis for moderate volume of cerebral hemorrhage in the thalamus-internal capsule region remains unsubstantiated by clinical investigations. Consequently, the acquisition of credible evidence is imperative to authenticate the effectiveness of these methodologies.

Methods: One hundred and three eligible patients with moderate-volume thalamus-internal capsule region cerebral hemorrhage.

The objective was to explore the effect modification of zinc (Zn) intake levels on the relationship of tobacco smoke exposure and risk of metabolic syndrome (MetS) in children and adolescents. We used data from 2007-2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (N = 3701). MetS was considered as main endpoint.

Molecular subtyping and immune score system by a novel pyroptosis-based gene signature precisely predict immune infiltrating, survival and response to immune-checkpoint blockade in breast cancer.

Cancer Genet

Rehabilitation Medicine Center and Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu, PR China; Key Laboratory of Rehabilitation Medicine in Sichuan Province, Sichuan University, Chengdu, PR China. Electronic address:

Breast cancer is one of the most prevalent and lethal types of cancer affecting women globally. Pyroptosis is a recently elucidated form of inflammatory cell death mediated by the gasdermin family and is considered to be associated with the tumor immune microenvironment. However, the impact of pyroptosis on breast cancer patients remains unclear.

1College of Acupuncture-Moxibustion and Tuina, Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chengdu 610075, China; 2The First People's Hospital of Yibin City, Yibin 644099, Sichuan Province.

Objective: To observe the effects of moxibustion on the contents of leukotriene B4 (LTB4), interleukin-17 (IL-17), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and matrix metalloproteinase -9 (MMP-9) in serum, and explore the protection mechanisms of moxibustion in the patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Methods: A total of 64 patients with RA were randomly divided into treatment group (=31) and control group (=33). The patients in the control group were treated with conventional medication for consecutive 5 weeks.

The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, a recently proposed indicator for insulin resistance, has been related with cardiovascular risks. We aimed to summarize the association between TyG index and incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Cohort studies demonstrating the association between TyG index and incidence of MACEs in ACS patients with multivariate adjusted analyses were identified by search of PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science databases.

Objective: To compare the clinical effect of the self-made wire-rope button plate and cortical screw in the treatment of the distal tibiofibular syndesmosis separation.

Methods: Total 26 patients with distal tibiofibular syndesmosis separation were treated with internal fixation with a self-made wire-rope button plate and cortical screw. They were divided into a self-made wire-rope button plate group and cortical screw group.

Department of Pediatric Pulmonology and Immunology, West China Second University Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu, China.

Background: The respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the main cause of bronchiolitis in infants and interferon (IFN) α is a commercial antiviral drug. The nebulization of IFN α1b could be a viable treatment method. In this study, the therapeutic effects and safety of IFN α1b delivery via nebulization in infant bronchiolitis were investigated in this multi-center prospective study.

Human glioma is one of the malignant tumors of the central nervous system (CNS). Its prognosis is poor, which is due to its genetic heterogeneity and our poor understanding of its underlying molecular mechanisms. The present study aimed to assess the relationship between plasmacytoma variant translocation 1 (PVT1) and enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2), and their effects on the proliferation and invasion of glioma cells.

August 2008

Department of General Surgery, the First People's Hospital of Yibin City, Yibin 644000, Sichuan, China.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to analyze how 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) affects the balance of proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines in rats with severe sepsis caused by intra-abdominal infection.
  • Thirty female Wistar rats were divided into three groups: a control group, a severe sepsis group, and a 5-FU treatment group, with sepsis induced via E. coli injections and treated with 5-FU shortly after.
  • Results indicated that 5-FU significantly reduced mortality, lung swelling, and the levels of the proinflammatory cytokine IL-6 and anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 compared to the severe sepsis group, suggesting its potential therapeutic benefits in treating severe
