An important aspect of the pathophysiology of early brain damage (EBI) after subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is inflammasome-mediated neuroinflammation. It has been demonstrated that C3aR activation exacerbates neuronal damage in a number of neurological disorders. This study aims to explore the role of C3a in activating the NLRP3 inflammasome and exacerbating neuroinflammation after SAH.

Background: Prolonged mechanical ventilation is associated with an increased risk of mortality in these patients. However, there exists a significant clinical need for novel indicators that can complement traditional weaning evaluation methods and effectively guide ventilator weaning.
Objectives: To investigate the specific relationship between mechanical power normalized to dynamic lung compliance (Cdyn-MP) and weaning outcomes in patients on mechanical ventilation for more than 24 hours, as well as those who underwent a T-tube weaning strategy.

Background: To date, there are no studies regarding the Mrp 8/14 in predicting the occurrence of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) induced by sepsis. Thus, the objective of this study was to investigate the expression of Myeloid-related proteins 8 and 14 (Mrp 8/14) and its role in ARDS induced by sepsis.
Methods: A total of 168 septic patients were enrolled in the observational study.

To investigate the management of granulation tissue during surgery for infected congenital preauricular fistula and to assess the surgical outcomes. To summarize the surgical methods and the treatment of granulation methods in 140 cases of congenital preauricular fistula during the period of infection treated in our department from January 2018 to September 2022. The study divided patients into an observation group (79 patients) undergoing fistulectomy without granulation treatment, and a control group (61 patients) where fistulectomy and granulation resection were performed concurrently.

A 54-year-old male patient with severe acute respiratory distress syndrome caused by inhalation injury was admitted to the First People's Hospital of Lianyungang City on June 26, 2022. After admission, the patient received invasive mechanical ventilation (driving pressure-guided ventilator parameter setting) combined with prone position treatment immediately, but his condition continued to deteriorate. Five hours after admission, the patient received veno-venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV-ECMO) supporting treatment, treatment based on ultra-protective lung ventilation strategy combined with prone position ventilation for more than 12 hours per day.

Background: The pathophysiological mechanism underlying chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain (CINP) remains unclear. Sensory neuronal hypersensitivity in the dorsal root ganglion (DRG) is essential for the onset and maintenance of chronic pain. Satellite glial cells (SGCs) in the DRG potentially affect the function of sensory neurons, possibly by mediating extracellular or paracrine signaling.

Background: Alveolar epithelial cell injury is a key factor in the occurrence and development of pulmonary acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDSp). Yet the gene expression profile of alveolar epithelial cells of patients with ARDSp remains unclear.
Methods: We analyzed single nuclear RNA sequencing (snRNA-Seq) data from autopsy lung tissues of both ARDSp patients and healthy donors.
Background: The prospective association between plasma Se and stroke risk remains inconclusive. The relationship between Se and ischemic stroke among a low circulating Se status population deserves more attention, especially for Chinese people who were a high-risk group for Se deficiency.
Objective: The relationship between plasma Se concentration and ischemic stroke risk in a large-scale Chinese community-based population and any potential effect modifiers were investigated.

Several single-center studies have evaluated the predictive performance of mechanical power (MP) on weaning outcomes in prolonged invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) patients. The relationship between MP and weaning outcomes in all IMV patients has rarely been studied. A retrospective study was conducted on MIMIC-IV patients with IMV for more than 24 h to investigate the correlation between MP and weaning outcome using logistic regression model and subgroup analysis.

Laryngeal cancer is one of the highest incidence, most prevalently diagnosed head and neck cancers, making it critically necessary to probe effective targets for laryngeal cancer treatment. Here, real-time quantitative reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR) and western blot analysis were used to detect gene expression levels in laryngeal cancer cell lines. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and subcellular fractionation assays were used to detect the subcellular location.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) ranks highly among malignant tumors in the world in terms of morbidity and mortality. By using bioinformatics, we screened and obtained a novel oncogene WDR43, a member of the WD-repeat protein encoding family that is closely related to tumor progression. PCR and immunohistochemistry showed that WDR43 is highly expressed in NSCLC.

Aims: Objective to investigate whether D2-40 can be used as a marker of early lung adenocarcinoma and precursor lesions.
Methods: In order to explore the value of D2-40, a monoclonal antibody that recognises the podoplanin, as an auxiliary diagnostic marker to aid the diagnosis of these conditions, we performed the immunohistochemical (IHC) staining using early lung adenocarcinoma, infiltrating adenocarcinoma, benign lung lesions and relevant peritumour normal tissues. The microscopic examination was performed to analyse the D2-40 IHC staining.

Objective: The aim of the study was to investigate molecular mechanisms underlying the role of miR-126-5p in cisplatin (DDP) sensitivity of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Methods: The expression of miR-126-5p and ADAM9 in NSCLC cancer tissues and adjacent tissues, cisplatin-sensitive and drug-resistant NSCLC patient tissues, human normal lung epithelial cells (BESA-2B), human lung adenocarcinoma cell lines A549 and H1560, and cisplatin-resistant mutant cell lines A549/DDP and H1560/DDP was detected by qRT-PCR. After overexpression of miR-126-5p or ADAM9 in A549/DDP and H1560/DDP, MTT and clone formation were used to detect the cell proliferation ability of each treatment group.
