Nonlinear effect of temperature on hand, foot, and mouth disease in Lanzhou, China.

To examine the effects of temperature on the daily cases of hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD).Data on the daily cases of HFMD in Lanzhou from 2008 to 2015 were obtained, and meteorological data from the same period were collected. A distributed lag nonlinear model was fitted to reveal the relationship between the daily mean temperature and the daily cases of HFMD.

Glioma is one of the most common malignant tumors of the central nervous system with a poor prognosis at present due to lack of effective treatment options. Its initiation, migration, and multipotency are affected by cancer stem cell's transition. Previous studies imply that changes in the cancer stem cells can affect the malignant differentiation of the tumor.

Progress in clinical trials of cell transplantation for the treatment of spinal cord injury: how many questions remain unanswered?

Spinal cord injury can lead to severe motor, sensory and autonomic nervous dysfunctions. However, there is currently no effective treatment for spinal cord injury. Neural stem cells and progenitor cells, bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells, olfactory ensheathing cells, umbilical cord blood stem cells, adipose stem cells, hematopoietic stem cells, oligodendrocyte precursor cells, macrophages and Schwann cells have been studied as potential treatments for spinal cord injury.

Comparative efficacy and safety of different drugs for bipolar disorder complicated with anxiety disorder: A protocol for systematic review and network meta-analysis.

Background: Nowadays, there are some randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to explore the effectiveness of drug therapy for bipolar disorder with anxiety disorders. However, due to lack of sufficient data, there are currently no good treatment recommendations. The purpose of this network meta-analysis is to compare the efficacy and safety of different drugs for bipolar disorder complicated with anxiety disorders to provide evidence to support clinical practice and guidelines development.

Curcumin and Baicalin ameliorate ethanol-induced liver oxidative damage via the Nrf2/HO-1 pathway.

One of the key mechanisms of alcoholic liver disease is oxidative stress. Both Curcumin and Baicalin exert antioxidant effects, but the mechanism of their combined effects of ethanol-induced liver injury is still unclear. This study was conducted to evaluate the dual antioxidant activity of Curcumin combined with Baicalin against ethanol-induced liver injury in rats.

Nano nickel oxide promotes epithelial-mesenchymal transition through transforming growth factor β1/smads signaling pathway in A549 cells.

Our previous study demonstrated that nano nickel oxide (NiO) induce pulmonary fibrosis in rats and collagen excessive formation in A549 cells, which mechanism was related with the increasing transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1) secretion. However, it remains unclear understanding the role of TGF-β1 in collagen excessive formation. Here, we found nano NiO could directly promote epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) via the TGF-β1/Smads pathway in A549 cells.

AMPK and its Activator Berberine in the Treatment of Neurodegenerative Diseases.

Neurodegenerative disorders are heterogeneous diseases associated with either acute or progressive neurodegeneration, causing the loss of neurons and axons in the central nervous system (CNS), showing high morbidity and mortality, and there are only a few effective therapies. Here, we summarized that the energy sensor adenosine 5'-monophosphate (AMP)-activated protein kinase (AMPK), and its agonist berberine can combat the common underlying pathological events of neurodegeneration, including oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, mitochondrial disorder, glutamate excitotoxicity, apoptosis, autophagy disorder, and disruption of neurovascular units. The abovementioned effects of berberine may primarily depend on activating AMPK and its downstream targets, such as the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), sirtuin1 (SIRT1), nuclear factor erythroid-2 related factor-2 (Nrf2), nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB), phosphoinositide 3-kinase/protein kinase B (PI3K/Akt), nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+), and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (p38 MAPK).

This report was designed to assess the functional role of miR-218/dachshund family transcription factor 1 (DACH1) in diabetic kidney disease (DKD) and investigate its possible molecular mechanism. From the GEO database, we downloaded different datasets for analyzing the expression of miR-218 and DACH1 in DKD. TargetScan was adopted to predict the binding sites between miR-218 and DACH1, which was further verified by dual-luciferase reporter assays.

Association between ambient particulate matter and hospital outpatient visits for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in Lanzhou, China.

Until now, a number of epidemiological studies have focused on the association between ambient particulate matter pollution and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), especially in developed countries. There are limited evidences on the association between short-term exposure to particulate matters (PM, PM, and PM) and overall hospital outpatient visits for COPD at the same time in China. Thus, a time-series analysis on the short-term association between three subtypes of PM (PM, PM, and PM) and daily hospital outpatients for COPD in Lanzhou, China was conducted, from 2014 to 2017.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the correlation between human papillomavirus (HPV) type 6/11 and 16/18 infections and glandular thickening mammary gland hyperplasia in order to explore methods for preventing glandular thickening mammary gland hyperplasia. A total of 240 patients with glandular thickening mammary gland hyperplasia who were treated by surgery in our hospital from January 2012 to June 2017 were enrolled in the present study. The hyperplastic breast tissue and adjacent normal breast tissue were taken to test HPV type 6/11 and 16/18 infections using conventional PCR and in situ hybridization techniques.

Context: Brainstem tumour surgery is difficult, and accidents can easily occur.

Objective: To explore the effect of dexmedetomidine hydrochloride on brainstem tumour surgery.

Design, Setting And Participants: A total of 60 patients with brainstem tumours successfully operated on by our hospital from March 2016 to March 2018 were selected as subjects.

Materials And Methods: Melanoma A2058 cells was stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS), with or without transfection of DLL3 siRNA, or DLL3 overexpression vector, or Twist1 siRNA. Cell migration and invasion were detected by wound healing and transwell invasion assay.

Hypertriglyceridemia and hyperuricemia: a retrospective study of urban residents.

Background: The aim of this study was to determine the association between hypertriglyceridemia and hyperuricemia (HUA).

Methods: The study was conducted in 3884 subjects who had not received medication enrolled as a baseline. Each participant received at least three annual health check-ups between 2011 and 2017.

Methods: We systematically searched MEDLINE and all relevant guideline websites (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, National Guideline Clearinghouse, Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network, WHO, Guidelines International Network, DynaMed, UpTodate, Best Practice) from their inception to January 2017 to identify and select gout CPGs.

To explore the efficacy of Jinghuaweikang capsules combined with Quadruple therapy in the treatment of ()infection. Patients who were infected with in 7 centers in Gansu Province were recruited in this prospective simple randomized study. All the patients are divided into four groups randomly: patients in Group A1 were treated with esomeprazole (20 mg, twice a day) + pectin bismuth (200 mg, three times a day) + amoxicillin (1 000 mg, twice a day) + clarithromycin (500 mg, twice a day), while Group A2 with Jinghuaweikang capsules(160 mg, three times a day) based on group A2, Group B1 with esomeprazole (20 mg, twice a day) + bismuth pectin (200 mg, three times a day) + amoxicillin (1 000 mg, twice a day) + furazolidone (100 mg, twice a day) and Group B2 with Jinghuaweikang capsules(160 mg, three times a day) based on group B2.

Recently, it has been reported that the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of STAT4, PTPN2, PSORS1C1 and TRAF3IP2RA genes are associated with the clinical efficacy of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. Psychological assessment in 355 Chinese college students with androgenetic alopecia.

Although the association of the psychological problems and androgenetic alopecia (AGA) gained the increasing attention, the psychosocial state in college students with AGA remains unknown. We recruited a total number of 355 college students with AGA from 18 universities in Southern China for interview. The Symptom Checklist-90-R (SCL-90-R) survey was used to assess the psychological state of these students.
