Purpose: This study aimed to explore the effectiveness of preoperative computed tomography (CT) radiomic models combined with clinical and CT imaging features for predicting spread through air spaces (STAS) in patients with T1 lung adenocarcinoma.
Methods: The preoperative CT and clinical data of 219 patients with T1 invasive lung adenocarcinoma confirmed by surgery were retrospectively analyzed and randomly divided into training and test sets at a ratio of 7:3. Univariable and multivariable logistic analyses were performed on the clinical and CT manifestations to screen independent predictive factors for STAS (+), and a clinical model was constructed.

Objective: To investigate the association between preoperative serum levels of albumin (ALB) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) with postoperative outcome in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients.
Methods: A thorough literature search was conducted across Embase, PubMed, and Cochrane Library databases, identifying 20 eligible studies encompassing 61,296 participants. Studies were primarily observational and case-control in nature, with some randomized controlled trials also included.
The MASS cohort comprises 2000 ICU patients with severe pneumonia, covering community-acquired pneumonia, hospital-acquired pneumonia, and ventilator-associated pneumonia, sourced from 19 hospitals across 10 cities in three provinces. A wide array of samples including bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, sputum, feces, and whole blood are longitudinally collected throughout patients' ICU stays. The cohort study seeks to uncover the dynamics of lung and gut microbiomes and their associations with severe pneumonia and host susceptibility, integrating deep metagenomics and transcriptomics with detailed clinical data.

Objective: To study the value of single and combined application of contrast-enhanced computerized tomography (CT) and dynamic contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) in diagnosing parotid tumors.
Methods: In this retrospective study, 82 patients with parotid gland mass who received contrast-enhanced CT and DCE-MRI detection in The First People's Hospital of Huzhou from March 2018 to March 2022 were selected as study subjects. The nature of the parotid tumor was pathologically examined following the surgery.
Gut microbiota make up the largest microecosystem in the human body and are closely related to chronic metabolic diseases. Herein, 520 fecal samples are collected from different regions of China, the gut microbiome in chronic kidney disease (CKD) is characterized, and CKD classifiers based on microbial markers are constructed. Compared with healthy controls (HC, = 210), gut microbial diversity is significantly decreased in CKD ( = 110), and the microbial community is remarkably distinguished from HC.

Nitric oxide (NO) can induce necrosis and detachment of branchial epithelium, aggregate inflammation and induce acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). The detection of NO in exhaled breath condensate (EBC) has not been widely applied in evaluating ARDS condition. This study thus tested NO in EBC of ARDS patients, in order to provide non-invasive method to monitor disease condition of ARDS.

Chicken ovalbumin upstream promoter transcription factor II (COUP-TFII) promotes progression of a variety of tumors. The study was designed to explore the role of COUP-TFII in colorectal carcinoma (CRC) resistance to doxorubicin. The sensitivity of CRC cell lines to doxorubicin was calculated by different proliferation rate measured with cell count kit-8 and EdU (5-Ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine) assay.

The aim of our study was to find feature genes associated with astrocytoma and correlative gene functions which can distinguish cancer tissue from adjacent non-tumor astrocyte tissues. Gene expression profile GSE15824 was downloaded from Gene Expression Omnibus database which included 8 astrocytoma tissues and 3 adjacent non-tumor astrocyte samples. The raw data were first transformed into probe-level data and the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between tissues of patients with astrocytoma and normal specimen were identified using T-test in samr package of R.
