Purpose: The systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) is a hematological marker that reflects the immune status of the body. This study was designed to evaluate the prognostic significance of the baseline SII in HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer (MBC) patients receiving chemotherapy plus trastuzumab without or with pertuzumab.
Methods: Data were collected from 774 patients from the CLEOPATRA trial, 196 patients from the H0648G trial, and 229 patients from six clinical centers in China.

Objectives: Efforts to shorten rifampicin-resistant tuberculosis (RR-TB) treatment have led to concerns about hepatotoxicity in shorter regimens. We evaluated hepatotoxicity in two novel regimens against the standard shorter regimen recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Methods: Participants from the TB-TRUST and TB-TRUST plus trials were assigned to the WHO shorter regimen, a levofloxacin (Lfx)-based regimen, or a bedaquiline (Bdq)-based regimen.

The PD-1/PD-L1 pathway is considered as one of the most promising immune checkpoints in tumour immunotherapy. However, researchers are faced with the inherent limitations of antibodies, driving them to pursue PD-L1 small molecule inhibitors. Virtual screening followed by experimental validation is a proven approach to discover active compounds.

This study investigates the effectiveness of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) as a nonpharmacological approach to treating neuropathic pain (NP), a major challenge in clinical research. Conducted on male Sprague-Dawley rats with NP induced through chronic constriction injury of the sciatic nerve, the research assessed pain behaviors and the impact of rTMS on molecular interactions within the amygdala. Through a comprehensive analysis involving Mechanical Withdrawal Threshold (MWT), Thermal Withdrawal Latency (TWL), RNA transcriptome sequencing, RT-qPCR, Western blotting, immunofluorescence staining, and Co-Immunoprecipitation (Co-IP), the study focused on the expression and interaction of integrin αvβ3 and its receptor P2X7R.

Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) refers to the decline of ovarian function before the age of 40. POI causes a reduction in or loss of female fertility, accompanied by different degrees of menopausal symptoms, which increases the risk of chronic diseases related to early menopause and seriously affects patients' quality of life and health. It is conservatively estimated that at least one million prepubertal girls and women of reproductive age in China are at risk of iatrogenic POI caused by radiotherapy and chemotherapy every year.

Background: No residual disease (R0 resection) after debulking surgery is the most critical independent prognostic factor for advanced ovarian cancer (AOC). There is an unmet clinical need for selecting primary or interval debulking surgery in AOC patients using existing prediction models.
Methods: RNA sequencing of circulating small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) was used to discover the differential expression microRNAs (DEMs) profile between any residual disease (R0, n = 17) and no residual disease (non-R0, n = 20) in AOC patients.

Objectives: Pro-protein convertase subtilisin/kexin 9 (PCSK9) decreases the clearance of the pathogenic lipids, supporting the potential role of PCSK9 in the prognosis of sepsis.
Methods: In this prospective cohort study, patients with sepsis were consecutively recruited from 1 to 2020 to 30 September 2021 at the First People's Hospital of Huaihua, China. All the eligible patients were categorized into low-PCSK9 and high-PCSK9 groups, based on their PCSK9 levels at admission.

(TW) is the root cause of Whipple's disease (WD), a rare infectious illness leading to multi-organ impairment. A prominent feature of WD is acute pneumonia, which can be exceedingly challenging to diagnose clinically due to the pathogen's surreptitious nature. However and significantly, with the advent of metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), it offers clinicians a potent tool at their disposal to detect TW infections.

Methods: In the retrospective study, patients with AIS, transferred by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to Hunan Provincial People's Hospital between September 2019 to June 2022, divided into three groups, as traditional group, in-hospital RFID group and whole process RFID group. Baseline characteristics and time metrics were compared.

Background: Recent evidence has revealed that circulating coagulation factor prekallikrein (PK), an important part of the kallikrein-kinin system, regulates cholesterol metabolism, but the association between serum PK and lipid levels is unclear.
Methods: This cross-sectional study included 256 subjects (aged from 1 month to 90 years) who underwent physical examinations at the First People's Hospital of Huaihua, China. After overnight fasting, serum was collected for PK and lipid testing.

Purpose: We mainly aimed to perform a narrative review of clinical applications of the three intracavitary contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) including contrast-enhanced voiding urosonography (ceVUS), contrast-enhanced retrograde urethrosonography (ceRUG), and contrast-enhanced genitosonography (ceGS) in pediatric lower genitourinary anomalies.
Method: A literature search in the PubMed and Web of Science databases was conducted up to 1 July 2022 on all studies published in English using the search terms "contrast-enhanced voiding urosonography", "contrast-enhanced retrograde urethrosonography", and "contrast-enhanced genitosonography". Trials were limited to pediatric subjects (ages ≤18 years) with no time restrictions.

Adenosine-to-inosine RNA editing (ATIRE) is a common form of ribonucleic acid (RNA) editing, which has highlighted the importance of ATIRE in tumors. However, its role in bladder cancer (BLCA) remains poorly understood. To study ATIRE impact on BLCA patient prognosis, we obtained ATIRE, gene expression, and clinical data from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database for 251 patients, randomly dividing them into training and testing groups.

Prediction of susceptibility to pyrazinamide (PZA) directly from sputum has been challenging. The MeltPro MTB/PZA assay, based on melting curve analysis, can simultaneously detect Mycobacterium tuberculosis and the resistance to PZA from sputum. We aimed to evaluate the MeltPro MTB/PZA assay to predict PZA resistance among rifampin-resistant tuberculosis (RR-TB) patients.

Background: Door-to-needle time (DNT) is a critical consideration in emergency management of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Deficiencies in the widely applied standard hospital workflow process, based on international guidelines, impede rapid treatment of AIS patients. We developed an in-hospital stroke system to reduce DNT and optimize hospitals' emergency procedures.

Recent years have witnessed a growing research interest in traditional Chinese medicine as a neuroprotective nutrient in the management of diabetic cognitive dysfunction. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms of sinomenine in mediating ferroptosis of hippocampal neurons have been poorly understood. This study sought to decipher the potential effect and molecular mechanism of sinomenine in the cognitive dysfunction following type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Introduction: Novel mechanistic insights into the effects of circular RNAs (circRNAs) on the physiology and pathology of cardiovascular diseases are under increasingly active investigation. This study defined the cardioprotective role and mechanistic actions of circ_0002612 in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury (MI/RI).
Methods: MI/RI was induced in mice by ligation of the left anterior descending (LAD) artery followed by reperfusion, and the in vitro model was established in cultured cardiomyocytes under hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) conditions.
