Eur Child Adolesc Psychiatry

October 2024

Microecology Research Center, Baiyun Branch, Nanfang Hospital, Southern Medical University, Guangzhou, China.

Article Synopsis
  • Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) causes changes in the brain as people grow up, and this study looks at how these changes happen during childhood, adolescence, and adulthood.
  • Researchers used special methods to see differences in brain structure and how it works, finding unique patterns at each age stage.
  • The study revealed that specific brain areas change in different ways, and these changes can affect social behavior and other actions in people with ASD, showing that treatments might need to be different depending on how old someone is.

A case report of fatal bloodstream infection in Zhejiang, China.

Future Microbiol

November 2024

Department of Clinical Laboratory, Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital (Affiliated People's Hospital, Hangzhou Medical College), Hangzhou, Zhejiang, 310014, China.

Article Synopsis
  • Japanese spotted fever (JSF) is a serious infection caused by a zoonotic pathogen, which was diagnosed in a 64-year-old woman who had an unknown fever and noticeable skin swelling.
  • The patient developed a severe bloodstream infection and was treated with doxycycline, but sadly died due to complications including septic shock and organ failure.
  • Early treatment is crucial since vague symptoms can lead to severe outcomes, and Q-mNGS (a pathogen detection method) should be more widely used by doctors for its accuracy and comprehensive detection capabilities.

Article Synopsis
  • Abnormalities in blood clotting and breakdown processes are important in inflammatory bowel disease, but their specific genetic roles in ulcerative colitis (UC) haven't been systematically studied.
  • Researchers analyzed datasets from the Gene Expression Omnibus database, using machine learning to identify key biomarkers related to coagulation and fibrinolysis.
  • They found four significant biomarkers (MAP2K1, CREBBP, TAF1, and HP) that are linked to immune pathways and specific immune cells, particularly eosinophils, which could aid in future clinical research on UC.

Hyperoxia-induced acute lung injury (HALI) is an important complication of clinical oxygen therapy, which is mainly characterized by acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in adults and broncho-pulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in infants. HALI seriously affects the prognosis and quality of life of patients, so it has received more and more attention. However, the pathogenesis of HALI is complex and unclear, and there is no clear treatment method at present.

Preimplantation genetic testing for monogenic diseases (PGT-M) can be used to select embryos that do not develop disease phenotypes or carry disease-causing genes for implantation into the mother's uterus, to block disease transmission to the offspring, and to increase the birth rate of healthy newborns. However, the traditional PGT-M technique has some limitations, such as its time consumption, experimental procedural complexity, and the need for a complete family or reference embryo to construct the haplotype. In this study, proband-independent haplotyping based on NGS-based long-read sequencing (Phbol-seq) was used to effectively construct haplotypes.

To circumvent the limitations of current antidepressants, WJ-14, a novel N-methyl-d-aspartate receptor antagonist, was synthesized and demonstrated to have remarkable efficiency in the treatment of depression. To illustrate the pharmacokinetics, absolute bioavailability, and tissue distribution of WJ-14 in rats, a rapid and sensitive liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry-based analytical method was developed and validated for the separation and detection of WJ-14 in both plasma and tissue samples. After oral administration, WJ-14 was rapidly absorbed into the blood with time to reach the maximum plasma concentration (T ) within 0.

Network pharmacology, reverse molecular docking, and rat acute pancreatitis (AP) models were used to analyze the mechanism of protection by Qingyi II granules. The chemical components of 7 Chinese herbal medicines in Qingyi II granules were searched through the TCMSP (traditional Chinese medicine systems pharmacology database and analysis platform) database. The active ingredients were screened out in the OB (oral bioavailability) and DL (drug likeness) filters as a condition for inclusion.

Structural elucidation of lactone derivatives from Dendrobium pendulum.

Magn Reson Chem

August 2023

Key Laboratory of Basic Pharmacology of Guizhou Province and School of Pharmacy, Zunyi Medical University, Zunyi, Guizhou, China.

Six lactone derivatives, including four α-pyrones derivatives (1-4), two α-furanone derivatives (5 and 6), were isolated from the Dendrobium pendulum. Structural elucidation of these undescribed lactone derivatives were accomplished on the basis of detailed nuclear magnetic resonance analysis, and the absolute configurations of compounds 1-4 were confirmed by electronic circular dichroism (ECD) techniques. The cytotoxic effects of isolated compounds on human breast cancer cell MDA-MB-231 were evaluated by the MTT assay.

Present evidence suggests that the administration of antibiotics, particularly aminopenicillins, may increase the risk of rash in children with infectious mononucleosis (IM). This retrospective, multicenter cohort study of children with IM was conducted to explore the association between antibiotic exposure in IM children and the risk of rash. A robust error generalized linear regression was performed to address the potential cluster effect, as well as confounding factors such as age and sex.

Platinum drugs-related safety profile: The latest five-year analysis from FDA adverse event reporting system data.

Front Oncol

January 2023

Department of Pharmacy, West China Second University Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu, Sichuan, China.

Background: With the widespread application of platinum drugs in antitumor therapy, the incidence of platinum drug adverse events (ADEs) is always severe. This study aimed to explore the adverse event signals of Cisplatin, Carboplatin and Oxaliplatin, three widely used platinum-containing drugs, and to provide a reference for rational individualized clinical drug use.

Methods: The adverse event report data of the three platinum drugs from the first quarter of 2017 to the fourth quarter of 2021 were extracted from the FAERS database, and the data mining and risk factors for the relevant reports were carried out using the reporting odds ratio (ROR) method the proportional reporting ratio (PRR)and the comprehensive criteria (MHRA) method.

Eur J Med Chem

February 2022

State Key Laboratory of Functions and Applications of Medicinal Plants & College of Pharmacy, Guizhou Provincial Engineering Technology Research Center for Chemical Drug R&D, Guizhou Medical University, Guiyang, 550025, PR China. Electronic address:

The development of inhibitors targeting the PI3K-Akt-mTOR signaling pathway has been greatly hindered by the on-target AEs, such as hyperglycemia and hepatotoxicities. In this study, a series of diaryl urea derivatives has been designed and synthesized based on clinical candidate gedatolisib (6aa), and most of the newly synthesized derivatives showed kinase inhibitory and antiproliferative activities within nanomolar and submicromolar level, respectively. The terminal l-prolineamide substituted derivative 6 ab showed 8.

Background: Although endoscopic sphincterotomy (EST) has a positive therapeutic effect on biliary-type sphincter of Oddi dysfunction (SOD), some patients still have little relief after EST, which implies that other functional abdominal pain may also be present with biliary-type SOD and interfere with the diagnosis and treatment of it.

Aim: To retrospectively assess EST as a treatment for biliary-type SOD and analyze the importance of functional gastrointestinal disorder (FGID) in guiding endoscopic treatment of SOD.

Methods: Clinical data of 79 patients with biliary-type SOD (type I and type II) treated with EST at Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou Medical University from January 2014 to January 2019 were retrospectively collected to evaluate the clinical therapeutic effect of EST.
