To study the structures of the scala vestibuli and tympani of miniature pigs in order to evaluate the feasibility of using miniature pigs as the animal model for cochlear implant. The temporal bones of three miniature pigs with normal hearing were scanned by micro-CT. With the aid of the Mimics software, we reconstructed the 3D structure of inner ear basing on the serial images of the miniature pig, and obtained dimensions of the scala vestibuli and tympani with multi-planar reconstruction (MPR) technique.

Purpose: Methanol exposure have been shown to produce retinal abnormalities and visual dysfunctions in rodents and other mammals developing . In this study, we characterized how methanol affects the retinal development in an embryonic system, the zebrafish.

Methods: Zebrafish embryos were raised for 24 hours in fish water supplemented with various concentrations of methanol at 6 hours after fertilisation.

MicroRNA-365 (miR-365) has been reported to play an important role in tumorigenesis in many types of cancers; however, the role of miR-365 in the carcinogenesis of ovarian cancer remains unknown. In this study, we focused on the roles and underlying mechanisms of miR-365 in ovarian cancer. Here, we found that miR-365 expression level was significantly decreased in ovarian cancer tissues and cell lines, and that low miR-365 expression was negatively significantly associated with advanced stages as defined by the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO), histological grading, and lymph node metastasis.
