Immune cell infiltration and keratinocyte (KC) hyperproliferation are characteristics of psoriasis. Radical S-adenosyl methionine domain-containing 2 (RSAD2) plays an integral role in the innate immune response and is associated with various immune-related diseases. However, RSAD2's expression and role in modulating immune responses in psoriasis remain unexplored.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the gastrointestinal tumors with the lowest survival rate and the worst prognosis. At the time of diagnosis, the majority of patients have missed the opportunity for radical surgical resection and opt for chemotherapy as their primary treatment choice. And drug resistance emerges during the application of the most widely used chemotherapeutic regimens such as modified FOLFIRINOX regimen, gemcitabine monotherapy or 5-Fluorouracil combination therapy, which further reduces the therapeutic efficacy.

Background: Bipolar disorder (BD) is difficult to discriminate from major depressive disorder (MDD) before the appearance of mania or hypomania. This study was designed to identify whether patients with MDD and those who converted to BD are distinguishable using dynamic amplitude low-frequency fluctuations (dALFF) and describe the sex effects on the identification of the two disorders.
Methods: We compared the dALFF values of 35 BD patients who converted from MDD during the 2-year follow-up, 99 MDD patients, and 130 healthy controls (HCs) using two-way ANOVA.

Bioengineered tissues or organs produced using matrix proteins or components derived from xenogeneic sources pose risks of allergic responses, immune rejection, or even autoimmunity. Here, we report successful xeno-free isolation, expansion, and cryopreservation of human endothelial cells (EC), fibroblasts (FBs), pericytes (PCs), and keratinocytes (KCs). We further demonstrate the bioprinting of a human skin substitute with a dermal layer containing xeno-free cultured human EC, FBs, and PCs in a xeno-free bioink containing human collagen type I and fibronectin layered in a biocompatible polyglycolic acid mesh and subsequently seeded with xeno-free human KCs to form an epidermal layer.

Right-sided colon cancer (RCC), as an independent tumor entity, shows a poor prognosis. It is imperative to detect immune microenvironment-related genes for predicting RCC patient prognosis and study their function in RCC. Tripartite motif-containing 27 (TRIM27) was identified as a risk signature from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) datasets by using weighted gene co-expression network analysis, differentially expressed analysis, and univariate Cox analysis.

Background: Bipolar disorder is a chronic and highly recurrent mental disorder that can be classified as bipolar type I (BD I) and bipolar type II (BD II). BD II is sometimes taken as a milder form of BD I or even doubted as an independent subtype. However, the fact that symptoms and severity differ in patients with BD I and BD II suggests different pathophysiologies and underlying neurobiological mechanisms.

Background: The functions of RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) in the occurrence and development of tumors remain largely unexplored. We established a risk signature based on RBPs to predict the prognosis, tumor-related immunity, and treatment benefits of patients with testicular germ cell tumors (TGCTs).
Methods: A risk signature was built based on RBPs closely related to survival obtained from TGCT data in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database.

Background: Fear of cancer recurrence (FCR) is one of the most common and aversive psychological phenomena among cancer survivors. Understanding the independent and potentially modifiable risk factors that contribute toward FCR seen in cancer survivors would inform future interventional trials aimed at reducing this risk.
Objective: The aim of this study was to provide an evidence synthesis of factors correlated with FCR to inform the development of preventive interventions.

Laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) is a common aggressive head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and racial disparities have been reported to exist in it. However, its molecular mechanism and associated ethnic specificity are still unclear. Here, we leveraged mRNA expression data from 2 gene expression omnibus datasets (GSE142083 & GSE117005) of Chinese samples and the cancer genome atlas (TCGA) datasets of Caucasian samples to demonstrate the expression signature of LSCC.

Kinesin family member 2A (KIF2A), a member of the kinesin-13 protein family that functions as a regulator in mitosis, neuron branch extension, etc., is reported to be involved in the pathogenesis of multiple cancers. This study assessed KIF2A effects on cancer cell functions and sensitivity to chemotherapy and its interaction with PI3K/AKT/VEGF signaling when mediating cancer cell functions, and chemosensitivity in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Unlabelled: Backgroud: Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), a key mediator of inflammatory responses, which is associated with vascular remodeling. The association between TLR4 and NOD-like receptor family pyrin domain-containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome in the regulation of vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) proliferation remains unclear. This study was to explore the role and underlying mechanisms of TLR4 in the proliferation of VSMC in hypertension.

β3 integrin (ITGB3), also known as CD61 or GP3A, is one of the most widely studied components in the integrin family. As an adhesion receptor on the cell surface, ITGB3 participates in reprogramming tumor metabolism, shaping the stromal and immune microenvironment, facilitating epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) and endothelial to mesenchymal transition (End-MT) and maintaining tumor stemness, etc. Recent studies proposed various intervention strategies against ITGB3 and have achieved promising outcomes in several types of tumor.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTumor suppressor p53 is a short-lived nuclear transcription factor, which becomes stabilized and activated in response to a wide variety of cellular stresses. Around 50% of human cancer tissues carry mutations, and certain mutations contribute to chemoresistance. In the present study, we found that histone deacetylase 2 (HDAC2) acts as a co-activator of tumor suppressor p53 and participates in the early molecular events following DNA damage.

Folded proteins show a high degree of structural order and undergo (fairly constrained) collective motions related to their functions. On the other hand, intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs), while lacking a well-defined three-dimensional structure, do exhibit some structural and dynamical ordering, but are less constrained in their motions than folded proteins. The larger structural plasticity of IDPs emphasizes the importance of entropically driven motions.

This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to clarify the shape of associations between birth weight and aforementioned diseases in adults and assessed sex-specific risks. Methods and Results We systematically searched PubMed, EMBASE , and Web of Science for studies published between 1980 and October 2016.

Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers in females, accounting for a majority of cancer-related deaths in worldwide. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been identified as critical regulators in many tumor-related biological processes. Thus, investigation into the function and mechanism of lncRNAs in the development of cervical cancer is very necessary.
