Background/purpose: It has been demonstrated that gut microbes are closely associated with the pathogenesis of lymphoma, but the gut microbe landscape and its association with immune cells in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) remain largely unknown. In this study, we explored the associations between gut microbiota, clinical features and peripheral blood immune cell subtypes in DLBCL.

Method: A total of 87 newly diagnosed DLBCL adults were enrolled in this study.

The purpose of this study was to compare the educational effects on nutrition knowledge of two teaching methods targeting adolescent male soccer players through learning online from WeChat account articles (WeChat group) or taking classroom courses (classroom group). The study investigates whether such teaching methods can improve self-efficacy and nutrition knowledge for athletes. A total of 41 U15 (age 15) youth male soccer players, 21 in the classroom group and 20 in the WeChat group, participated in the experiment by receiving the same nutrition education separately for 12 weeks.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of a trans-theoretical model (TTM) of behavioural change plus motivational interviewing on self-management behavior and quality of life (QoL) in patients with intracranial aneurysm.

Methods: A total of 94 patients with intracranial aneurysm treated in the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University from 2019 to 04/2021-04 were retrospectively analyzed. Among them, 49 patients used TTM + motivational interview as the observation group (Obs group), and 45 patients used the traditional method as the control group (Con group).

Article Synopsis
  • The text discusses the growing focus on men's health, particularly the link between testicular microlithiasis (TM) and male infertility, highlighting TM as a rare condition marked by tiny calcifications in the testis.
  • Recent studies indicate a potential connection between TM and decreased male fertility, although opinions on this correlation vary internationally.
  • There is currently no effective treatment for TM related to male infertility, indicating a critical need for further research in both basic and clinical settings.

Objective: To study the miR-184 level in the seminal plasma exosome of male infertility patients and its clinical significance.

Methods: Between 2015 and 2019, we collected 285 seminal plasma samples from 97 azoospermia (AS) and 96 asthenospermia (AZS) patients and 92 age-matched normal fertile controls in Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, General Hospital of Eastern Theater Command and the First Hospital Affiliated to Wenzhou Medical University, identified the isolated seminal plasma exosomes by nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Western blot, and detected the miR-184 level in the seminal plasma exosomes by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR). We determined the clinical value of the miR-184 level and its correlation with semen parameters by multiple statistics, predicted the target genes and involved pathways of miR-184 by bioinformatic algorithms, and analyzed their relationship with male infertility.

Objective: To analyze the whole genome sequences of Staphylococcus aureus strains from the sperm of infertile males and identify the gene which may induce the inhibition of sperm motility (ISM).

Methods: Twenty-two Staphylococcus aureus strains were isolated from the sperm of infertile males in the First Hospital Affiliated to Wenzhou Medical University and, according to the ability of ISM, divided into an ISM and a non-ISM group. Two strains most representative of the biological function of each group were selected, namely MJ015 from the ISM and MJ163 from the non-ISM group, and DNA extracted from them for whole genome sequencing.

Objective: To observe the clinical effect and safety of the Chinese patent medicine Ningmitai Capsules (NMT) in relieving lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in the patient with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Methods: We randomly assigned 40 BPH patients to an experimental and a control group of equal number to receive oral administration of NMT at 4 capsules tid and terazosin hydrochloride tablets at 2 mg qd, respectively, both for 14 days. At 7 and 14 days after medication, we recorded and compared the International Prostate Symptoms Score (IPSS), maximum urinary flow rate (Qmax), quality of life (QoL) scores, results of urinalysis and blood routine examination, and indexes of hepatic and renal function.
