Background: To evaluate the short-term efficacy, lung function, and oxidative stress levels between the robotic-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (RATS) and video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery group (VATS) for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study, selecting 248 NSCLC patients who underwent minimally invasive lobectomy at the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Gansu Provincial People's Hospital, from August 2019 to February 2023. There were 105 patients in the RATS group and 143 patients in the VATS group.

Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a cellular reprogramming process that converts epithelial cells into mesenchymal-like cells with migratory and invasive capabilities. The initiation and regulation of EMT is closely linked to a range of transcription factors, cell adhesion molecules and signaling pathways, which play a key role in cancer metastasis and drug resistance. The regulation of ferroptosis is intricately linked to various cell death pathways, intracellular iron homeostasis, and the protein network governing iron supply and storage.

Objective: We aimed to evaluate the effects of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) suppression therapy on cardiac structure and function in patients with differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) following thyroidectomy.

Methods: Two investigators independently searched the PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases for relevant studies published from inception to January 6, 2023, without any restrictions on language. Standard mean differences and 95% confidence intervals were calculated using fixed or random effects models.

Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most common malignancies worldwide. Despite significant advancements in surgical and adjuvant treatments, patient prognosis remains unsatisfactory. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are a class of RNA molecules that lack protein-coding capacity but can engage in the malignant biological behaviors of tumors through various mechanisms.

Orifice reduction strategies for da Vinci robotic surgery have been a hot topic of research in recent years. We retrospectively analyzed the perioperative outcomes of robotic-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (RATS) with two, three, and four-hole approaches in radical lung cancer surgery. Our results revealed that the two-hole group has advantages in terms of operative time, postoperative 3-day drainage, postoperative drainage time, postoperative hospital stay and postoperative day 3 visual analogue scale (VAS) pain scores.

Background: It has been demonstrated that widespread structural and functional brain alterations influence the development of cognitive impairment in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). However, the literature has limited evidence regarding the neuropathophysiological mechanisms behind these impairments. This research aimed to investigate brain morphologic and functional connectivity (FC) abnormalities related to neurocognitive function in OSA.

Objective: The aim of this study is to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the effectiveness of the medial parapatellar approach via the vastus medialis obliquus muscle in comparison with the standard medial parapatellar approach for total knee arthroplasty, using a systematic approach.

Methods: A computer search was conducted on PubMed, EMBASE, Medline, Cochrane libraries, and Web of Science databases to comprehensively collect randomized controlled studies on minimally invasive (MMV) approaches for knee arthroplasty, specifically the vastus and medial parapatellar (MP) approaches. Two authors independently screened the literature based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, evaluated the quality of the included studies using the Cochrane systematic review method, and performed a meta-analysis using RevMan 5.

Research progress of LINE-1 in the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of gynecologic tumors.

The retrotransposon known as long interspersed nuclear element-1 (LINE-1), which is currently the sole autonomously mobile transposon in the human genome, can result in insertional mutations, chromosomal rearrangements, and genomic instability. In recent years, numerous studies have shown that LINE-1 is involved in the development of various diseases and also plays an important role in the immune regulation of the organism. The expression of LINE-1 in gynecologic tumors suggests that it is expected to be an independent indicator for early diagnosis and prognosis, and also, as a therapeutic target, LINE-1 is closely associated with gynecologic tumor prognosis.
