Insights into multilevel tissue-level collateral status using ColorViz maps from dual data sources in acute ischemic cerebrovascular diseases: A STARD-compliant retrospective study.

This study aims to explore the utility of ColorViz mapping from dual data sources for assessing arterial collateral circulation and predicting cerebral tissue-level collateral (TLC) in patients with acute ischemic cerebrovascular diseases. A retrospective study was conducted at a single center on a cohort of 79 patients diagnosed with acute ischemic cerebrovascular diseases between November 2021 and April 2022, who had undergone both multi-phase CT angiography (mCTA) and computed tomography perfusion (CTP). The quality of images and arterial collateral status depicted on ColorViz maps from dual data-sets (mCTA and CTP) were assessed using a "5-point scale" and a "10-point scale," respectively.

Prognostic implications of preoperative, postoperative, and dynamic changes of alpha-fetoprotein and des-gamma (γ)-carboxy prothrombin expression pattern for hepatocellular carcinoma after hepatic resection: a multicenter observational study.

Background: The utility of pre- and post-operative alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and des-gamma (γ)-carboxy prothrombin (DCP) expression patterns and their dynamic changes as predictors of the outcome of hepatic resection for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has yet to be well elucidated.

Methods: From a multicenter database, AFP and DCP data during the week prior to surgery and the first post-discharge outpatient visit (within 1-2 months after surgery) were collected from patients with HCC who underwent hepatectomy. AFP-DCP expression patterns were categorized according to the number of positive tumor markers (AFP ≥ 20ng/mL, DCP ≥ 40mAU/mL), including double-negative, single-positive, and double-positive.

Meta-analysis of the role of neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio in neonatal sepsis.

Introduction: The neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), an inflammatory biomarker, measures innate-adaptive immune system balance. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we aim to analyze the current literature to evaluate the diagnostic role of NLR in neonatal sepsis.

Methods: PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus were used to conduct a systematic search for relevant publications published before May 14, 2022.

Comparative Analysis of Single-Path and Multipath Adrenal Venous Sampling in Primary Aldosteronism.

Objective: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of adrenal venous sampling (AVS) via the cubital vein and femoral vein synchronously.

Methods: A total of 200 patients with primary aldosteronism admitted to the First Hospital of Fujian Medical University were enrolled and randomly divided into a single-path AVS group (SP,  = 108) and a multipath AVS group (MP,  = 92). We analyzed the clinical characteristics, intubation success rate, procedure cost, total fluoroscopy time, complications, contrast dosage, and the number of catheters selected during AVS.

Our previous study showed that n-3 PUFAs inhibited inflammation in rats with esophagitis. This study aimed to observe the protective effect of n-3 PUFAs against acid damage to esophageal epithelial cells (Het-1A cells) and to explore its mechanism. The level of malondialdehyde (MDA) was increased by acid exposure, while that of superoxide dismutase (SOD) was decreased.

Analysis of conditional survival in primary hepatocellular carcinoma after narrow-margin hepatectomy: a large-sample, dual-centre, retrospective study.

Background: Overall survival (OS) reflects the constant hazard and survival probabilities calculated from the initial follow-up. Conditional survival (CS) dynamically estimates prognosis based on survival time after treatment. This study aimed to estimate CS in patients who had undergone narrow-margin hepatectomy for primary hepatocellular carcinoma.

Methods: A total of 144 intern nursing students in the emergency department of a tertiary care hospital in Fuzhou were selected as the study subjects from July 2020 to February 2021. Adopting quasi-experimental studies methods, the students were divided into the experiment group ( = 74) and the control group ( = 70), based on their practicing rotation times.

To evaluate the efficacy and safety of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE)-hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC)-targeted-immune quadruple therapy in patients with intermediate and advanced-stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). 101 patients with intermediate and advanced stage HCC were enrolled according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and then they were divided into a combination group and a control group. Patients in the combination group was treated with TACE-HAIC-targeted-immune quadruple therapy, while the control group was only treated with TACE therapy.

Methods: Fifty-four patients with refractory hypertension with chronic kidney disease were treated with RDN and enrolled in the study. Patients were divided into three groups according to eGFR: eGFR 46-90 ml/min group, eGFR 15-45 ml/min group, and eGFR <15 ml/min group.

Carbon dots with blue fluorescence were initially encapsulated into SiO nanospheres through the typical Stöber method.

Size-Controlled Engineering Photoelectrochemical Biosensor for Human Papillomavirus-16 Based on CRISPR-Cas12a-Induced Disassembly of Z-Scheme Heterojunctions.

Photoelectrochemical (PEC) biosensors incorporating biomolecular recognition with photon-to-electron conversion capabilities of the photoactive species have been developed for molecular diagnosis, but most involve difficulty in adjusting band gap positions and are unsuitable for PEC biodetection. In this work, an innovative PEC biosensor combined with quantum size-controlled engineering based on quantum confinement by controlling the quantum size was designed for the detection of human papillomavirus-16 (HPV-16) through CRISPR-Cas12a (Cpf1)-induced disassembly of Z-scheme heterojunction. To the best of our knowledge, quantum size-controlled engineering that precisely tunes the properties of photoactive materials is first utilized in the PEC bioanalysis.

The Effect of Preoperative Rehabilitation Training on the Early Recovery of Joint Function after Artificial Total Knee Arthroplasty and Its Effect Evaluation.

Objective: To study the effect of preoperative rehabilitation training on the rehabilitation of patients after total knee arthroplasty.

Methods: A total of 120 patients diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis and undergoing total knee arthroplasty were selected and divided into experimental group and control group according to a random number table, with 60 cases in each group. The control group only carried out routine clinical nursing before the operation, and the experimental group used the formulated preoperative rehabilitation training method based on the control group for training.

Efficacy and safety of endovascular brachytherapy combined with transarterial chemoembolization for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma patients with type III or IV portal vein tumor thrombosis.

Background: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of endovascular brachytherapy (EVBT) combined with transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) complicated with type III OR IV portal vein tumor thrombosis (PVTT) and to further analyze the prognostic predictors for the patients with HCC and PVTT.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the medical records of 54 patients who were diagnosed with HCC complicated with type III or IV PVTT and received EVBT combined with modified TACE treatment from January 2017 to June 2019. Adverse events, treatment response, overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS), and stent patency were analysed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of this treatment.

Identification of -Mutant and Wild-Type by MR Imaging in Pleomorphic Xanthoastrocytoma and Anaplastic Pleomorphic Xanthoastrocytoma.

Background And Purpose: Compared with wild-type pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma, -mutant pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma showed a higher survival rate. In this study, we focused on finding preoperative MR imaging differences between mutant and wild-type in pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma and anaplastic pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma.

Materials And Methods: Twenty-three patients with pathologically confirmed pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma or anaplastic pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed from January 2015 to December 2020.

Inhibition of endotoxin-induced acute lung injury in rats by bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells: Role of Nrf2/HO-1 signal axis in inhibition of NLRP3 activation.

Both the Nuclear factor-erythroid 2 p45-related factor 2 (Nrf2)/heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) antioxidant pathway and Nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain (NOD)-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) pathway are considered essential for the development of acute lung injury (ALI)/ARDS induced by sepsis. Our aim was to study the role of Nrf2/HO-1 pathway on activation of the NLRP3 in the protective effect of marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) on LPS-induced ALI. We found that BMSCs ameliorated ALI as evidenced by 1) decreased histopathological injury, wet/dry ratio, and protein permeability index in lung; 2) decreased reactive oxygen species (ROS), malondialdehyde (MDA), and protein carbonyl content and restored the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), and catalase (CAT) in lung tissue; 3) reduced LPS-induced increase in inflammatory cell count and promotion of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-1β, and IL-6 levels in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF); 4) improvement in the four-day survival rate of animals; and 5) enhanced expression of Nrf2 and HO-1 and decreased expression of NOD-like receptor protein 3(NLRP3) and caspase-1 (p20) in lung tissue.

Non-contrast CT image characteristics on admission predict the 3-month outcome of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis: an observational study in a single institution.

Background: Various computed tomography (CT) appearances of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) were associated with different prognosis and the patients with large intracranial hematoma will have adverse outcomes, but no in-depth study of non-contrast CT image appearances was carried out. We aimed to test the hypothesis that non-contrast CT image characteristics on admission are associated with and predict the outcome of CVST at 3 months.

Methods: Three hundred and six patients with CVST between 2008 and 2017 were collected.

A systematic review of the comparison of the incidence of seeding metastasis between endoscopic biliary drainage and percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage for resectable malignant biliary obstruction.

Background And Aim: Endoscopic biliary drainage (EBD) and percutaneous biliary drainage (PTBD) are the two main strategies of preoperative biliary drainage (PBD) for resectable malignant biliary obstruction (MBO) worldwide, but which is better remains unclear. Seeding metastasis (SM) has been reported repeatedly in the recent decade, although it is rarely taken into consideration in the choice of PBD. Hence, a systematic review was badly warranted to evaluate the incidence of SM between PTBD and EBD in the preoperative treatment of MBO.
