Malignant liver tumors have a high incidence and mortality rate. Therefore, it is of great significance to promptly learn about tumor advancement status through relevant examinations for patients' follow-up, diagnosis, and therapy as well as the improvement of the five-year survival rate. The primary lesions and intrahepatic metastases of malignant liver tumors have been better demonstrated in the clinical study with the use of various isotope-labeled fibroblast activating protein inhibitors because of their low uptake in liver tissues and high tumor/background ratio, which provides a new method for early diagnosis, precise staging, and radionuclide therapy.

Osteosarcoma (OS) is still the most common malignant bone tumor whose etiology remains largely unclear. Here, we aimed to investigate the role of a novel E3 ubiquitin ligase RING finger gene 180 (RNF180) in OS progression. RNF180 was significantly down-regulated in both OS tissues and cell lines.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a lifelong reproductive endocrine disease, which is the most common cause of anovular infertility. Modern medicine mainly treats infertile patients with PCOS by improving living habits, ovulation induction therapy, and assisted reproductive technology (ART), but the effect is not satisfied. Complementary alternative medicine (CAM) has conspicuous advantages in the treatment of PCOS infertility due to its good clinical efficacy, wide mechanism of action, and no obvious adverse reactions, but its safety and effectiveness in the treatment of PCOS infertility have not been proved.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on identifying maternal characteristics linked to neonatal asphyxia in newborns using data from a Chinese birth registry.
  • The methodology involved retrospective analysis of birth records, comparing newborns with and without asphyxia, and applying logistic regression to determine risk factors.
  • A predictive model was developed that effectively identified high-risk pregnancies, highlighting the importance of early recognition of potential complications during pregnancy and childbirth.

Purpose: Monitoring antifungal susceptibility patterns for new or established antifungals is imperative. Antifungal resistance is frequent in molds, frequently leading to invasive mold infections (IMIs) in immunocompromised patients with high morbidity and mortality. Limited availability of effective antifungals for treatment of IMIs in China is an enormous challenge.

Article Synopsis
  • The study highlights the rising number of multiparous women in China due to the second child policy, with concerns about complications from previous cesarean deliveries.
  • It analyzes data from 36,355 women to compare pregnancy outcomes between those with previous cesarean deliveries and those with previous vaginal deliveries.
  • Results indicate that women with cesarean histories experience more complications, suggesting the importance of minimizing unnecessary cesareans to enhance future maternal and neonatal health.

To identify the factors predicting intrauterine balloon tamponade (IUBT) failure for severe postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) after delivery, we conducted a retrospective cohort study of women who underwent IUBT for severe PPH after delivery from October 1, 2016 until September 30, 2017. The failure of IUBT was defined as the need of additional surgical procedures or uterine embolization. A total of 99,650 deliveries occurred during the study period.

Background: Previous studies have shown that intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) is associated with an increased incidence of adverse perinatal outcomes, and this supports the contention that ICP is associated with increased risk for both gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and preeclampsia. The purpose of this study was to review adverse maternal and perinatal outcomes of ICP in the Chinese population, and to investigate the association between ICP and GDM, as well as between ICP and preeclampsia.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study in which we compared pregnancies affected by ICP with all other deliveries during the study period.

The long non-coding (lnc)RNA associated with poor prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (AWPPH) serves as an oncogene in several cancers, such as liver and bladder cancers, however, to the best of our knowledge, its function in T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia is unknown. The results of the present study revealed that the expression levels of lncRNA AWPPH and Rho-associated protein kinase 2 (ROCK2) were upregulated in the bone marrow of patients with pediatric T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia compared with healthy controls. Expression levels of lncRNA AWPPH and ROCK2 were positively correlated with each other.

A cross-sectional study was conducted to the reported factors and assesses possible protective factors for pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) in China. The data of pregnant women who delivered between October 2016 and September 2017 were collected from a birth registry. The primary outcome was the occurrence of PIH.

The aberrant expression of microRNA-375 (miR-375) has been proved to be associated with carcinogenesis. However, the role of miR-375 in glioblastoma (GBM) remains unknown. The aim of this study was to investigate biological functions and its molecular mechanisms of miR-375 in GBM cells.

Non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the most common cause of death from cancer worldwide. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a group of important regulators in NSCLC, including miR-198. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms of miR-198 involvement in intrinsic resistance to radiotherapy in NSCLC remain to be elucidated.

MicroRNA-149* (miRNA-149*) functions as an oncogenic regulator in human melanoma. However, the effect of miRNA-149* on T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) is unclear. Here we aimed to analyze the effects of miRNA-149* on in vitro T-ALL cells and to uncover the target for miRNA-149* in these cells.

Services of Laryngology, Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, The Second Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University, No. 148, Bao jian Road, Harbin, 150081, People's Republic of China.

Background: Various microRNAs (miRNAs) negatively modulate genes that are involved in cellular proliferation, differentiation, invasion, and apoptosis. In many types of cancer, the expression profiles of these miRNAs are altered. Recently, miR-101 was identified as a tumour suppressor and was found to be expressed at low levels in various types of tumours, including prostate, breast, endometrium, and bladder cancers.

Bax inhibitor-1 (BI-1) is a novel anti-apoptotic protein. While the effect of BI-1 on apoptosis has been extensively studied, less is known about how BI-1 is related to oncogenesis and the progression, particularly, the invasion and metastasis of cancer. In this study, we investigated the expression and function of BI-1 in human non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Increasing evidence has suggested that microRNAs (miRNAs) play an important role in the initiation and progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Here, we identified a novel tumor suppressive miRNA, miR-377, and investigated its role in HCC. The expression of miR-377 in HCC tissues and cell lines was detected by real-time reverse-transcription PCR.
