This study aimed to investigate the topological properties of brain functional networks in patients with tinnitus of varying durations. A total of 51 tinnitus patients (divided into recent-onset tinnitus (ROT) and persistent tinnitus (PT) groups) and 27 healthy controls (HC) were recruited. All participants underwent resting-state functional MRI and audiological assessments.

The relative benefit of ipsilateral, contralateral, and bilateral repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) for tinnitus treatment remains unclear, especially for patients with lateralized tinnitus. In this study, we compared outcomes after 10 sessions of 1-Hz rTMS at 110% of resting motor threshold over a two-week period. In total, 104 right-handed patients with lateralized subjective tinnitus were randomly divided into four groups according to rTMS treatment: Left (n = 29), Right (n = 23), Bilateral (n = 30), and Sham stimulation (n = 22).

The Leucine rich repeat containing G protein coupled receptor 5 (LGR5), may be a candidate marker of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells with stem cell-like properties. Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is one of NSCLC stem cell markers. To identify the relationship of LGR5 and ALDH1A1 in NSCLC, we analyzed the expression of LGR5 and ALDH1A1 in NSCLC samples, and determined their clinical significance.

Article Synopsis
  • Cancer stem-like cells in colorectal cancer are often marked by CD133, but its specific role is still unclear.
  • B7-H3, a molecule that helps tumors evade immune response, is found in a significant portion of colorectal cancer samples and can indicate tumor severity when co-expressed with CD133.
  • Patients showing both B7-H3 and CD133 expressions tend to have worse survival rates and more severe tumor characteristics, highlighting their potential as important biomarkers for cancer progression.

Background: Aspirin and clopidogrel dual antiplatelet therapy (DAT) reduce ischemic events in patients with cardiovascular disease. However, recurrent ischemic event occurrence during DAT remains a major concern. This systematic review assesses the efficacy and safety of adjunctive cilostazol to DAT in combination with DAT on reducing clinical adverse events.

Carboxylesterase 1 (CES1) is involved in the metabolic activation of a variety of prodrugs into active derivatives and plays an important role in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. A single-nucleotide polymorphism, A(-816)C, of the CES1A2 gene has been shown to enhance transcription efficiency and increase enzyme activity. The aim of this study was to develop an easy method to detect this polymorphism.
