Objectives: To investigate the risk factors for short-term residual low back pain (SRBP) following percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) in patients with initial thoracolumbar osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs).
Methods: The clinical data of 389 patients with primary thoracolumbar OVCFs treated with PKP in our hospital from January 2018 to December 2022 were retrospectively analysed. A numerical rating scale (NRS) was used to evaluate whether SRBP was present 2 days after the operation.

Introduction: COVID-19 is highly heterogeneous, ranging from cases with mild disease with an almost asymptomatic carrier to severe cases, in which the disease evolves rapidly. A better understanding of monocyte response during SARS-CoV-2 infection would highlight potential biomarkers and establish other possible approaches for severe cases.
Methods: The study group consisted of 32 COVID-19 patients and 18 health controls from June 2023 to March 2024.

Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome Virus (SFTSV), a novel bunyavirus primarily transmitted by Haemaphysalis longicornis, induces severe disease with a high mortality rate. N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is a prevalent internal chemical modification in eukaryotic mRNA that has been reported to regulate viral infection. However, the role of m6A modification during SFTSV infection remains elusive.

Chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD), characterized by chronic tissue inflammation and fibrosis involving multiple organs, remains a major complication after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) is an anti-inflammatory drug approved for the treatment of multiple sclerosis and psoriasis. We previously reported that DMF effectively inhibits acute GVHD (aGVHD) while preserving the graft-versus-leukemia effect.

Hemophilic arthritis (HA) is one of the most pathologically altered joint diseases. Specifically, periodic spontaneous hemorrhage-induced hyperinflammation of the synovium and irreversible destruction of the cartilage are the main mechanisms that profoundly affect the behavioral functioning and quality of life of patients. In this study, we isolated and characterized platelet-rich plasma-derived exosomes (PRP-exo).

Purpose: To examine the burden of blindness caused by refraction disorders (BCRD) in China over the past 30 years by year, age, and sex, and to estimate future projections.
Methods: Data from the Global Burden of Diseases (GBD) 2019 database were used to analyze the number of cases and age-standardized prevalence rates (ASPRs) of BCRD in China from 1990 to 2019. We focused on changes over time using estimated annual percentage changes (EAPCs).

Objectives: To investigate the potential of intratumoral and peritumoral radiomics derived from T2-weighted MRI to preoperatively predict extrapelvic peritoneal metastasis (EPM) in patients with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC).
Methods: In this retrospective study, 488 patients from four centers were enrolled and divided into training (n = 245), internal test (n = 105), and external test (n = 138) sets. Intratumoral and peritumoral models were constructed based on radiomics features extracted from the corresponding regions.

Objective: To explore the value of our protocol of respiratory endoscopy intervention in the treatment of refractory persistent air leakage(PAL) after pulmonary surgery.
Method: A retrospective study was conducted in 12 patients with PAL after pulmonary surgery who were successfully treated by our protocol of respiratory endoscopy intervention in the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine of the Fourth Hospital Affiliated to Soochow University and the First Hospital Affiliated to Soochow University from December 2019 to January 2024. 4 types of treatment were included in our protocol; A: chest tube drainage combined with negative pressure suction; B: medical thoracoscopy with chest tube as a path; C: stimulating bronchial mucosa hyperplasia under bronchoscopy; D: blocking of the fistula orifice with the relevant materials under the bronchoscope; And the specific treatment received by each patient was based on the condition of the patient.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) has the highest incidence of all common neurological disorders, along with high mortality and disability rates. Pathological conversion of excess nitric oxide (NO) to S-nitrosoglutathion (GSNO) after TBI leads to high S-nitrosylation of intracellular proteins, causing nitrative stress. GSNO reductase (GSNOR) plays an important role by regulating GSNO and SNO-proteins (PSNOs) and as a redox regulator of the nervous system.

Background: Multiscale sample entropy (MSE) is a prevalent complexity metric to characterize a time series and has been extensively applied to the physiological signal analysis. However, for a short-term time series, the likelihood of identifying comparable subsequences decreases, leading to higher variability in the Sample Entropy (SampEn) calculation. Additionally, as the scale factor increases in the MSE calculation, the coarse-graining process further shortens the time series.

Sepsis triggers severe inflammatory responses leading to organ dysfunction and demands early diagnostic and therapeutic intervention. This study identifies differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in sepsis patients using the Gene Expression Omnibus database to find potential diagnostic and therapeutic markers. We analyzed the dataset GSE123731 via GEO2R to detect DEGs, constructed protein-protein interaction networks, and performed transcription factor analyses using Cytoscape.

Malignant tumors pose a significant threat to global public health. Promoting programmed cell death in cancer cells has become a critical strategy for cancer treatment. PANoptosis, a newly discovered form of regulated cell death, integrates key molecular components of pyroptosis, apoptosis, and necroptosis, activating these three death pathways simultaneously to achieve synergistic multi-mechanistic killing.

Once considered unconventional cellular structures, membraneless organelles (MLOs), cellular substructures involved in biological processes or pathways under physiological conditions, have emerged as central players in cellular dynamics and function. MLOs can be formed through liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS), resulting in the creation of condensates. From neurodegenerative disorders, cardiovascular diseases, aging, and metabolism to cancer, the influence of MLOs on human health and disease extends widely.
