Background: Uncontrolled severe eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis (eCRS) is associated with elevated levels of Th2 cells and raised immunoglobulin concentrations in nasal polyp tissue. eCRS is characterized by high eosinophilic infiltration and type 2 inflammation. Gαi1/3 proteins participate in allergic inflammation by regulating immune cells.

Background: Electrically evoked compound action potential (ECAP) can be used to measure the auditory nerve's response to electrical stimulation in cochlear implant (CI) users. In the Nurotron CI system, extracting the ECAP waveform from the stimulus artifact is time-consuming.
Method: We developed a new paradigm ("FastCAP") for use with Nurotron CI devices.

Background: Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is the most common histological subtype of lung cancer. JAM2, a member of the Junctional adhesion molecule (JAM) family, plays diverse roles in cell-cell contacts and tumor development. Although JAM2's expression and functions have been reported in various cancers, its clinical and biological significance in LUAD remains unclear.

Background: Different parotid tumors differ in terms of treatment strategies due to their distinct biological behaviors. Time-dependent diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (t-dMRI) can characterize and quantify the cytological indexes, and then aid the differential diagnosis of various tumors. However, the value of t-dMRI in the analysis of parotid gland tumors remains unclear.

Background And Purpose: Bone metastasis is common for breast cancer and associated with poor prognosis. Currently, radiotherapy (RT) serves as the standard treatment for patients exhibiting symptoms of bone metastasis to alleviate pain. Whether earlier application of RT will better control bone metastasis remains unclear.

Positively charged residues are commonly located near the cytoplasm-membrane interface, which is known as the positive-inside rule in membrane topology. The mechanism underlying the function of these charged residues remains poorly understood. Herein, we studied the function of cytoplasmic residues in corin, a type II transmembrane serine protease in cardiovascular biology.

Rationale: We report here a case of using iodine-125 (125I) seed implantation via endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) in the treatment of malignant central airway obstruction (MCAO) in a patient with lung adenocarcinoma.
Patient Concerns: The patient still experienced MCAO after conventional bronchoscopic interventional therapy.
Diagnoses: The patient was diagnosed as lung adenocarcinoma stage IV (T4N2M1a).

Stroke remains a leading cause of disability and mortality worldwide, with mitochondrial dysfunction closely linked to ischemic injury. This study explores the Norad-Pum2-Mff axis as a key regulator of mitochondrial function following ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury. Using an oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) model, Mff protein levels were significantly elevated post-OGD/R, while mRNA levels remained unchanged, suggesting post-transcriptional regulation.

Introducing multiple physical cues to control cell behaviors effectively is considered as a promising strategy in developing bioactive wound dressings. Silk nanofiber-based cryogels are developed to favor angiogenesis and tissue regeneration through tuning hydrated state, microporous structure, and mechanical property, but remained a challenge to endow with more physical cues. Here, β-sheet rich silk nanofibers are used to develop cryogels with nanopore structure.

Ischemic stroke (IS), a cerebrovascular condition, is commonly detected by evaluating carotid intima-media (CIA) stenosis. Symptomatic CIA stenosis carries a high risk (up to 32%) of another ischemic event within 12 weeks, while asymptomatic CIA stenosis has an annual risk ranging from 1% to 2%. Therefore, this study aims to explore the diagnostic value of clinical features and carotid plaque characteristics in both symptomatic and asymptomatic IS.

Background: Computed tomography (CT)-guided hook-wire localization is currently the most commonly used technique for preoperative localization of pulmonary nodules in clinical practice. With the increasing incidence of multiple primary lung cancers and the increasing occurrence of second primary lung cancers or local recurrences after lung cancer surgery, some patients need to undergo an ipsilateral or contralateral second pulmonary resection. In order to reduce the surgical difficulty of the second operation and accurately guide the surgical resection, preoperative localization of some nodules is necessary.

Aim: To test the effect of autophagy on inflammatory damage resulting from oxidative stress in adult retinal pigment epithelial cell line (ARPE-19).
Methods: ARPE-19 cells were pretreated with 200 and 600 µmol/L hydrogen peroxide (HO) at various time intervals. The changes of cell morphology, cell viability, reactive oxygen species (ROS) level, autophagic activity, and the inflammatory cytokines (TNFα, IL-6, and TGFβ) were measured at baseline and after treatment with autophagy inducer rapamycin (Rapa) and suppressor wortmannin (Wort) or shATG5.

Background: Cough variant asthma (CVA) is a specific type of asthma characterized by chronic cough as the sole or predominant symptom. Accurate diagnosis is crucial for effective treatment, yet bronchial provocation test is not always feasible in clinical settings. To identify independent predictors of CVA diagnosis, we developed a nomogram for predicting CVA.

Background: It remains unclear whether adding CTLA-4 blockade to PD-1/PD-L1 blockade improves clinical outcomes in cervical cancer (CC).
Methods: In this randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase 2 study (ClinicalTrials.gov: NCT04590599), patients with recurrent/metastatic CC (R/M CC) who experienced disease progression after or during platinum-based chemotherapy were enrolled from 37 centers across China and randomly assigned (1:1), stratified by PD-L1 expression and prior treatment lines, to receive either IBI310 plus sintilimab or placebo plus sintilimab intravenously every 3 weeks for 12 weeks, followed by sintilimab alone.

To assess the effectiveness and safety of Sacubitril/Valsartan in reducing blood pressure in individuals with non-dialysis-dependent chronic kidney disease (NDD-CKD) Stage 3-5 complicated by hypertension. This study was a multicenter retrospective analysis conducted from March 1, 2022 to March 31, 2024, involving adult patients with NDD-CKD Stage 3-5 and hypertension, who received Sacubitril/Valsartan either as a monotherapy or in addition to current antihypertensive treatments that were insufficient. The main outcomes measured were blood pressure control, changes in blood pressure and laboratory parameters within 8 weeks post-treatment initiation, and incidence of adverse events.
