T helper type 9 (Th9) cells have recently been identified as a new effector T cell subset. This study is to analyze the reconstitution of Th9 cell after matched sibling peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (MS-PBSCT) and the relationship between Th9 cell and acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD). Flow cytometry and ELISA were used to analyze the percentages of Th9 cell, levels of IL-9, TGF-β, IFN-γ, and IL-4.

Previous studies from our group have demonstrated that sevoflurane post-conditioning (SPC) protects against myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury via elevating the intranuclear expression of hypoxia inducible factor-1 alpha (HIF-1α). However, diabetic SPC is associated with decreased myocardial protection and disruption of the HIF-1 signaling pathway. Previous studies have demonstrated that cobalt chloride (CoCl) can upregulate HIF-1α expression under diabetic conditions, but whether myocardial protection by SPC can be restored afterward remains unclear.

Objectives: Prior studies have demonstrated NF-κB plays an important role in the development and progression of inflammatory diseases. The aim of this study was to investigate whether promoter polymorphisms in NFKB1 and NFKBIA gene are associated with coronary artery disease (CAD) in a Chinese Han population.

Methods: A total of 1140 Han CAD patients and 1156 Han control subjects were genotyped for 4 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the promoter region of NFKBIA gene (rs3138053, rs2233406, rs2233409) and NFKB1 gene (-94 ins/del ATTG, rs28362491) by using the TaqMan SNP genotyping assays, and then NFKBIA haplotype blocks were reconstructed according to our genotyping data.

The aim of the present study was to ascertain the effect of Porphyromonas gingivalis cysteine protease gingipain on the proliferation of rat aortic smooth muscle cells (RASMCs). Gingipains were isolated and purified from the supernatant of P. gingivalis W83, which was cultured under standard anaerobic conditions; primary RASMCs were also cultured.
