Background: Although it has been established that elevated blood pressure and its variability worsen outcomes in spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage, antihypertensives use during the acute phase still lacks robust evidence. A blood pressure-lowering regimen using remifentanil and dexmedetomidine might be a reasonable therapeutic option given their analgesic and antisympathetic effects. The objective of this superiority trial was to validate the efficacy and safety of this blood pressure-lowering strategy that uses remifentanil and dexmedetomidine in patients with acute intracerebral hemorrhage.

Care, control and complications of hospitalised patients with type 1 diabetes in China: A nationwide-based registry study.

Aims: To evaluate the status quo of type 1 diabetes (T1D) management and characteristics of hospitalised patients with T1D in China through a nationwide multicentre registry study, the China Diabetes Type 1 Study (CD1S).

Materials And Methods: Clinical data from the electronic hospital records of all people with T1D were retrospectively collected in 13 tertiary hospitals across 7 regions of China from January 2016 to December 2021. Patients were defined as newly diagnosed who received a diagnosis of diabetes for less than 3 months.

Chronic apical periodontitis (CAP) is characterized by inflammation and destruction of the apical periodontium that is of pulpal origin, appearing as an apical radiolucent area, and does not produce clinical symptoms. Little is known about whether the PD-1/PD-L1 ratio is associated with the balance between RANKL and OPG in CAP. The relationship between PD-1/PD-L1 and RANKL/OPG in CAP is investigated in this study.

An Analysis of the Efficacy of Multilayered Repair and Reconstruction Using Combined Tissue Pedicle Flaps for Abdominal Wall Defects in Adult Bladder Exstrophy Patients.

Objective: In this study, we conducted a retrospective analysis of cases involving adult classic bladder exstrophy (CBE) accompanied by the absence of the abdominal wall. Specifically, we focused on the utilization of multilayer flaps for reconstructive purposes. In addition, we aimed to share our clinical treatment experience pertaining to similar challenges, thereby providing valuable insights to complement the surgical management of this rare disease.

Association of longitudinal trajectories of general and abdominal adiposity during middle age with mental health and well-being in late life: A prospective analysis.

Single measures of adiposity markers, such as body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference (WC), are associated with adverse mental health outcomes; however, long-term patterns of adiposity and their health effects remain unclear. The current study assessed adiposity trajectories during a 14-year span beyond middle age and their relevance to mental well-being in late life, and the contribution of genetic and lifestyle factors to the trajectories. Based on a nationally representative sample with longitudinal anthropometric measures, adiposity trajectories were identified by latent mixture modeling, and logistic regression model was used to estimate their associations with mental well-being, with adjustment for confounders.

Inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), regulated by nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB), is crucial for intestinal inflammation and barrier injury in the progression of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). The NF-κB pathway is inhibited by S-glutathionylation of inhibitory κB kinase β (IKKβ), which can be restored by glutaredoxin-1 (Grx1). Thus, we aim to explore the role of Grx1 in experimental NEC.

Methods: The study used the multi-stage random cluster sampling method to investigate the adult residents of Uighu aged over 18 years old in one county and one township/street of three cities in Kashi between May and June 2021. All dietary data collected were analyzed for energy and nutrient intake with a nutritional analysis software, followed by a calculation of DII.

Indole-3-propionic acid (IPA), a gut microbiota-derived metabolite of tryptophan, has been proven to fulfill an essential function in cardiovascular disease (CVD) and nerve regeneration disease. However, the role of IPA in aortic dissection (AD) has not been revealed. We aimed to investigate the role of IPA in the pathogenesis of AD and the underlying mechanisms of IPA in endothelial dysfunction.

Role of Platelet/Lymphocyte, Neutrophil/Lymphocyte, and Interleukin-37/Interleukin-17 Ratios in the Occurrence and Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis.

This study was designed to investigate the correlation of neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and interleukin (IL)-37/IL-17 ratio with the incidence/treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Firstly, fifty-eight patients with RA treated at the first affiliated hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from January 2018 to January 2019 were selected as the RA group; forty-nine healthy volunteers were enrolled in the control group. RA patients were treated with disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs).

Comparison of the osteogenic effects of demineralized dentin matrix and acellular dentin matrix.

Objectives: This study aims to compare the osteogenic effects of implanting demineralized dentin matrix and acellular dentin matrix in bone defect areas.

Methods: Demineralized dentin matrix and acellular dentin matrix were prepared. Twenty-four male SPF-grade SD rats were randomly divided into four groups: demineralized group (group A), acelluar group (group B), Bio-Oss bone powder group (group C), and blank control group (group D), with six rats in each group.

Identification of four biotypes in temporal lobe epilepsy via machine learning on brain images.

Artificial intelligence provides an opportunity to try to redefine disease subtypes based on similar pathobiology. Using a machine-learning algorithm (Subtype and Stage Inference) with cross-sectional MRI from 296 individuals with focal epilepsy originating from the temporal lobe (TLE) and 91 healthy controls, we show phenotypic heterogeneity in the pathophysiological progression of TLE. This study was registered in the Chinese Clinical Trials Registry (number: ChiCTR2200062562).

Methods: The cross-sectional study used data from the 2020 nationwide epidemiology survey on AF among adults aged 18 years or older in mainland China to assess the prevalence of AF awareness.

Safety and efficacy of cardioneuroablation for vagal bradycardia in a single arm prospective study.

Cardioneuroablation (CNA) is currently considered as a promising treatment option for patients with symptomatic bradycardia caused by vagotonia. This study aims to further investigate its safety and efficacy in patients suffering from vagal bradycardia. A total of 60 patients with vagal bradycardia who underwent CNA in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from November 2019 to June 2022.

Identification and exploration of a new M2 macrophage marker MTLN in alveolar echinococcosis.

The pathogen of alveolar echinococcosis (AE) is Echinococcus multilocularis (E. multilocularis), which has the characteristics of diffuse infiltration and growth and has a high mortality rate. At present, the role of macrophages in AE infection has attracted more and more attention, but the new biomarkers and polarization mechanisms of macrophages are rarely studied.

[Construction and analysis of early warning and prediction model for risk factors of sepsis-associated encephalopathy].

Objective: To investigate the epidemiological characteristics of sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE) in patients with sepsis, analyze its risk factors and build a prediction model, which provides evidence for early clinical identification of SAE patients and improvement of clinical outcomes.
