To explore the key genes associated with the development and progression of adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC), with the aim of exploring novel biomarkers that can better diagnose ACC, and thus better improve patient prognosis. The GSE59701 and GSE88804 datasets (containing transcriptomic data for a total of 19 normal samples and 20 tumor samples) were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, combined into one dataset and used to remove batch effects using the SVA algorithm. A total of 711 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were screened by using the limma package.

Aim: To study the characteristics, relative distribution and to compare causes of red eye in ophthalmic clinics in Urumchi and Shanghai, China.

Methods: Data on continuous cases of red-eye patients admitted to the Ophthalmology Center of Xinhua Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University were collected between November 2018 and September 2019. Demographic data, the incidence of red eye and related disease distribution of all cases were obtained.

Paul C. Lauterbur Research Center for Biomedical Imaging, Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shenzhen, China.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of artery input function (AIF) derived from different arteries for pharmacokinetic modeling on dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) parameters in the grading of gliomas.

Methods: 49 patients with pathologically confirmed gliomas were recruited and underwent DCE-MRI. A modified Tofts model with different AIFs derived from anterior cerebral artery (ACA), ipsilateral and contralateral middle cerebral artery (MCA) and posterior cerebral artery (PCA) was used to estimate quantitative parameters such as K (volume transfer constant) and V (fractional extracellular-extravascular space volume) for distinguishing the low grade glioma from high grade glioma.

Patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) have a higher risk of suffering sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL), but little is known about this population. To investigate the clinical characteristics, treatment and recovery of SSNHL patients with ESRD. Records of 32 SSNHL patients with ESRD were reviewed, including clinical characteristics and hearing recovery.

Objective: This nationwide study aimed to establish Chinese specific reference intervals (RIs) for thyroid related tests: thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), free thyroxine (FT4), free triiodothyronine (FT3), total thyroxine (TT4), total triiodothyronine (TT3), anti-thyroid peroxidase (TPO-Ab) and anti-thyroglobulin antibodies (TG-Ab).

Method: Apparently healthy individuals (n = 2380) were recruited from Beijing, Guizhou, Urumqi, Dongying, Shenzhen, and Qiqihar in China. All the tests were measured by immunoassay testing.

Cardiac fibrosis is characterized by over-deposition of extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins and over-proliferation of cardiac fibroblast, and contributes to both systolic and diastolic dysfunction in many cardiac pathophysiologic conditions. Transforming growth factor β 1 (TGFβ1) is as an essential inducing factor of cardiac fibrosis. C-Ski protein has been identified as an inhibitory regulator of TGFβ signaling.

Objective: To explore the risk factors of unplanned reoperation after radical resection for colorectal cancer.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of 60 patients (within 14 to 24 days after the initial surgery) receiving unplanned reoperation after colorectal cancer surgery in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from January 2010 to January 2014 was carried out, comparing with 120 randomly paired patients without reoperation during the same period. Univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analysis was performed to investigate the clinicopathologic characteristics of patients in both groups.

Objective: Catheter closure of perimembrane ventricular septal defect (PMVSD) using the Amplatzer asymmetric ventricular septal defect occluder (AAVSDO) is a potential alternative for open surgical repair. However, the profile of the device obtained after closure probably continues to change some concerns regarding its safety. This study was designed to evaluate the morphologic changes of AAVSDO by transthoracic echocardiography examination (TTE) and X-ray examination after transcatheter closure of PMVSD.
