Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is characterized by ventricular dilation and poor systolic function. Approximately half of idiopathic DCM cases are assigned to genetic causes in familial or apparently sporadic cases, and more than 50 genes are reported to cause DCM. However, genetic basis of most DCM patients still keeps unknown and require further study.

The spatiotemporal associations between esophageal and gastric cancers provide evidence for its joint endoscopic screening in China: a population-based study.

Background: The spatiotemporal epidemiological evidence supporting joint endoscopic screening for esophageal cancer (EC) and gastric cancer (GC) remains limited. This study aims to identify combined high-risk regions for EC and GC and determine optimal areas for joint and separate endoscopic screening.

Methods: We analyzed the association of incidence trends between EC and GC in cancer registry areas across China from 2006 to 2016 using spatiotemporal statistical methods.

Methods: The data of TC, LDL-c, HDL-c, TG, and TC/HDL ratio were collected at baseline, 24 weeks, 48 weeks, 72 weeks, and 96 weeks. CHB patients with fatty liver at baseline were further analyzed in a subgroup.

Background: Programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) inhibitors can induce various adverse reactions associated with immunity, of which cardiotoxicity is a serious complication. Limited research exists on the link between PD-1 inhibitor use and pericardial effusion (PE) occurrence and outcomes.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective study at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University from 2017 to 2019, comparing cancer patients who developed PE within 2 years after PD-1 inhibitor therapy to those who did not.

However, the epidemic characteristics of HFPG-attributable multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) and extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB) remain unclear. We aimed to analyze the global spatial patterns and temporal trends of HFPG-attributable MDR-TB and XDR-TB from 1990 to 2019.

Chinese expert consensus on the diagnosis and treatment of coronary microvascular diseases (2023 Edition).

Since the four working groups of the Chinese Society of Cardiology issued first expert consensus on coronary microvascular diseases (CMVD) in 2017, international consensus documents on CMVD have increased rapidly. Although some of these documents made preliminary recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of CMVD, they did not provide classification of recommendations and levels of evidence. In order to summarize recent progress in the field of CMVD, standardize the methods and procedures of diagnosis and treatment, and identify the scientific questions for future research, the four working groups of the Chinese Society of Cardiology updated the 2017 version of the Chinese expert consensus on CMVD and adopted a series of measures to ensure the quality of this document.

Effect of ursodeoxycholic acid on preventing SARS-CoV-2 infection in patients with liver transplantation: a multicenter retrospective cohort study.

Background: Immunosuppressed recipients of liver transplantation (LT) are more likely to develop coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and may have an increased risk of developing worse outcomes.

Aim: To assess the effect of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) on preventing severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection in LT recipients.

Design: Adult patients (aged ≥ 18 years) who underwent LT between 1 January 2015 and 31 December 2022 were included and categorized into two groups according to their use of UDCA.

Objective: This study aims to uncover the spatiotemporal patterns of EC risk-attributable burden in 204 countries and territories from 1990 to 2019 so that prevention and control strategies of EC can be prioritized worldwide.

Mitochondria-derived Vesicle Packaging as a Novel Therapeutic Mechanism in Pulmonary Hypertension.

Increasing evidence suggests that mitochondrial dysfunction in pulmonary endothelial cells (ECs) plays a causative role in the initiation and progression of pulmonary hypertension (PH); how mitochondria become dysfunctional in PH remains elusive. Mitochondria-derived vesicles (MDVs) are small subcellular vesicles that excise from mitochondria. Whether MDV deregulation causes mitochondrial dysfunction in PH is unknown.

Prognostic Potential of Pulmonary Hypertension in Patients with Hematologic Malignancy.

Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases present a great burden for survivors of hematologic malignancy (HM). However, the effect of pulmonary hypertension (PH) on the clinical outcome of patients with HM remains unknown. This study aims to evaluate the prognostic potential of PH in patients with HM and explore the related clinical determinants.

Methods: A Treg-related prognostic classifier was built through a variety of bioinformatic methods, whose performance was assessed by KM survival curves, time-dependent receiver operating characteristic (tROC), and Harrell's concordance index (C-index).

Ventricular septal rupture (VSR) is a rare but devastating complication in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The Inhibitory Effects of Naringin in a Rat Model of Postoperative Intraperitoneal Adhesion Formation.

Background: Many attempts have been made to inhibit the formation of postoperative intraperitoneal adhesions, but the results have been discouraging. Therefore, the identification of effective preventative measures or treatments is of great importance. In this study, the substantial potential of naringin (NG) to reduce peritoneal adhesions was validated in a rat model.

Efficacy of Dapoxetine in the Treatment of Patients With Lifelong Premature Ejaculation as an Alternative to Sertraline Therapy.

Introduction: Before dapoxetine was approved for the treatment of lifelong premature ejaculation (LPE) in China, daily dosing with off-label sertraline was common.

Aim: To investigate the efficacy of dapoxetine in the treatment of patients with LPE as an alternative to sertraline therapy.

Methods: This prospective study included LPE patients who previously attempted treatment with sertraline and who agree to receive dapoxetine therapy in our hospital from January 2020 to March 2021.

TMIGD1 Inhibited Abdominal Adhesion Formation by Alleviating Oxidative Stress in the Mitochondria of Peritoneal Mesothelial Cells.

Background: Postoperative abdominal adhesion remains one of the frequent complications after abdominal surgery and lacks effective intervention. Peritoneal mesothelial cell injury and healing play crucial roles in the process of adhesion formation, and identifying this mechanism might provide new insight into possible new therapeutic strategies for this disease. Transmembrane and immunoglobulin domain-containing 1 (TMIGD1) has been proven to protect renal epithelial cells from injury induced by oxidative stress and has also been identified as a novel adhesion molecule.

Thyroglobulin Measurement Through Fine-Needle Aspiration for Optimizing Neck Node Dissection in Papillary Thyroid Cancer.

Background: Thyroglobulin measurement in fine-needle aspiration (FNA-Tg) is an additional diagnostic tool of lymph node metastasis (LNM) in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). However, its performance as a preoperative indicator of lateral neck LNM in PTC is unclear. We evaluated the use of FNA cytology and FNA-Tg to detect neck LNM presurgery using a simple methodology, and established a cut-off value for diagnosing LNM in PTC.

Introduction: To explore the relationship between the tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs) and tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), and their distribution characteristics as well as the prognostic value in gastric cancer (GC).

Material And Methods: The TLSs and four subtypes of TILs were assessed by immunohistochemical (IHC) staining. The presence of MECA-79 positive high endothelial venules (HEVs) identified among the ectopic lymphocyte aggregation area in the GC tissue was defined as valid TLSs.
