Effect of gasless endoscopic thyroidectomy through an axillary approach on the recurrent laryngeal nerve injury in patients with thyroid cancer.

Objective: To observe the effect of gasless endoscopic thyroidectomy through an axillary approach (GETAN) on the recurrent laryngeal nerve in patients with thyroid cancer.

Methods: One hundred and ten patients with thyroid cancer admitted to the department of general surgery, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University were retrospectively selected as the research subjects. They were divided into an observation group (OG, 55 patients, treated with GETAN) and a control group (CG, 55 patients, treated with conventional radical resection for papillary thyroid cancer).

Expressions of lysophosphatidic acid receptors in the development of human ovarian carcinoma.

Aim: To investigate the associations between the expressions of three lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) receptors (LPA1-3) and the development of ovarian carcinoma (OC).

Method: Ovarian tissue specimens, including normal ovarian epithelium tissues, benign ovarian tumor tissues and OC tissues were collected from patients who underwent surgical resections between March 2012 and December 2014. Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect LPA receptor expressions in ovarian tissues.

MiR-223 inhibited cell metastasis of human cervical cancer by modulating epithelial-mesenchymal transition.

Accumulating evidence have emerged important roles for microRNAs (miRNAs) participating in epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) process and are associated with metastasis in cervical cancer. We hypothesized that miR-223 played an important role in cell metastasis of cervical cancer. Here, we found miR-223 was downregulated in human cervical cancer cell lines and clinical tumor tissues.

Aldosterone-to-renin ratio acts as the predictor distinguishing the primary aldosteronism from chronic kidney disease.

Aldosterone-to-renin ratio (ARR) is a screening test for primary aldosteronism, but it was impacted by a bunch of clinical covariates. The ARR is associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD), renal artery stenosis, renin adenoma. This study aims to investigate relationship between ARR and primary aldosteronism in CKD patients.

Treatment of hematuria caused by renal arteriovenous malformation in pregnant patients.

This study is to investigate hematuria in pregnant patients caused by renal arteriovenous malformation and to evaluate the efficacy of superselective renal angiography and embolization used for treatment of renal arteriovenous malformation. Two cases of hematuria in pregnant patients caused by renal arteriovenous malformation were enrolled. Case 1 was a 28-year-old woman with repeatedly intermittent hematuria at week 7 during gestation.

[Gingival retraction paste versus gingival retraction cord for fixed prosthodontics: a systematic review].

Purpose: To assess the efficacy of gingival retraction paste versus gingival retraction cord in fixed prosthodontics on gingiva protection, tooth preparation, clarity of the impression and plaster model, and aptness of the prosthesis.

Methods: Chinese BioMedical Literature Database, VIP, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and Wangfang database were searched on November 15th 2012 for eligible studies. Hand-searching included references of the included studies and Chinese dental journals.
