Acquired estrogen receptor 1 (ESR1) mutation is being promoted as a key mechanism of resistance to endocrine therapies in breast cancers. It is significative to monitor ESR1 mutations in real time, which provide an opportunity to alter therapy as these mutations emerge. Previous assays based on next-generation sequencing (NGS) and digital PCR (dPCR) usually due to high costs and complicated workflows hampered their clinical adoption in general medical institutions.

Growth hormone-secreting pituitary adenoma (GHPA) represents about 20% of all histological subtypes of pituitary adenoma (PA), which may result in serious complications and shortened lifespan via growth-hormone (GH) hypersecretion. To date, no biomarkers of early diagnosis or therapeutic targets for GHPA treatment have yet been found. Recently, growing evidence has indicated that circular RNAs (circRNAs) are critical for the development and progression of numerous diseases, including cancers; however, their role in the pathogenesis of GHPA has not been reported.

Patients always have different responses to the same treatment due to the heterogeneity of multiple myeloma (MM). However, the relationship between monoclonal protein (M-protein) reduction rates during treatment and survival prognosis in MM patients remains controversial. We retrospectively analyzed 198 newly diagnosed MM patients who received regular bortezomib-based chemotherapy for at least 2 cycles and subsequent autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) plus continuous maintenance.

Background: The emerging threat to global health associated with the Zika virus (ZIKV) epidemics and its link to severe complications highlights a growing need to better understand the pathogenic mechanisms of ZIKV. Accumulating evidence for a critical role of type I interferon (IFN-I) in protecting hosts from ZIKV infection lies in the findings that ZIKV has evolved various strategies to subvert the host defense line by counteracting the early IFN induction or subsequent IFN signaling. Yet, mechanisms underlying the counter-IFN capability of ZIKV and its proteins, which might contribute to the well-recognized broad cellular tropisms and persistence of ZIKV, remain incompletely understood.

Background: The level of the systemic inflammatory marker C-reactive protein (CRP) is elevated in many patients with malignant disease and may be related to nutritional status.
Objective: To analyze the association between serum CRP levels in patients with malignant tumors and their nutritional status.
Method: A total of 3,692 cases were analyzed and the serum CRP levels were determined using an immunometric assay.

Genetic factors play significant roles in the causes of Parkinson's disease (PD). Recently, a meta-analysis of genome-wide association study (GWAS) has identified 17 loci associated with PD. The objective of our study was to investigate the association of 17 single-nucleotide polymorphisms with the risk of PD in Chinese population.

Rationale And Patients Concerns: Despite the introduction of varied disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs and biological agents, a substantial proportion of patients remain untreatable. We report a 56-year-old Chinese female patient with a case of refractory rheumatoid arthritis (RA) complicated with multiple myeloma (MM) who was treated successfully with Bortezomib followed by autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT).
Diagnosis And Interventions: We report a 56-year-old Chinese female patient who was diagnosed as RA complicating with MM.

Introduction: Various studies examined the relationship between the expression of phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) with the clinical outcome in patients with lung cancer, but yielded conflicting results.
Evidence Acquisition: Electronic databases updated to January 2016 were searched to find relevant studies. A meta-analysis was conducted with eligible studies which quantitatively evaluated the relationship between the expression of PTEN and clinical outcomes of patients with lung cancer.

Krüppel-like factor 17 (KLF17), a new member of the Krüppel-like factors (KLFs), has been reported to be a negative regulator of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and metastasis in breast cancer. However, the biological role and clinical significance of KLF17 in lung adenocarcinoma has been less clear. In the present study, we showed that KLF17 expression was decreased in lung adenocarcinoma.

To evaluate the correlation between 64 multidetector-row CT (64MDCT) perfusion imaging in colorectal carcinoma and microvessel density (MVD) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), 64MDCT perfusion imaging was performed in 33 patients with pathologically verified colorectal carcinoma. These images were analyzed with perfusion functional software, and time-density curves (TDC) were created for the region of interest (ROI) encompassing the tumor, the target artery and vein. The individual perfusion maps generated indicated blood flow (BF), blood volume (BV), mean transit time (MTT), and permeability-surface area product (PS).
