Purpose: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is one main cause of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), but the mechanisms of pathogenesis still remain unclear.
Methods: We screened the 1351 differentially expressed genes related to HBV-induced HCC by bioinformatics analysis from databases and found that Plasminogen (PLG) may be a key gene in HBV-induced HCC progression. Then, we used a series of experiments and to explore the roles of PLG in HBV-HCC progression, such as qRT-PCR, western blot, ELISA, flow cytometry and TUNEL assay, subcutaneous xenografts and histopathological analysis to reveal the underlying mechanisms.

Background: The aim of this study was to explore the role of autophagy in the cold I/R injury following lung transplantation.
Methods: The rat orthotopic lung transplantation model was established to perform the level of autophagy in the cold I/R injury in this study. The pretreatment of inhibitor (3-Methyladenine [3-MA]) and activator (rapamycin [RAPA]) of autophagy were performed to assess the role of autophagy in the cold I/R injury following lung transplantation in rats.

Background/aim: Several reports have investigated the role of exonuclease 1 (EXO1) rs1047840 in lung cancer risk in different ethnic populations. Nevertheless, the results have been controversial. We aimed to assess the possible association between EXO1 rs1047840 and risk of lung cancer in a meta-analysis.

Elevated expression of fatty acid synthase (FASN) and human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER2) are observed in human osteosarcoma (OS). The aim in this study is to investigate a possible connection between FASN expression and the activity of HER2. The immunohistochemistry staining was conducted on 24 OS specimens from patients, which revealed a significant positive correlation between FASN and HER2 as well as p-HER2 protein expression.

Accumulating studies revealed that the expression levels of several miRNAs are up or down-regulated in osteosarcoma (OS). The aim of this study was to investigate the functional significance and molecular of the let-7g in OS cells. The expression levels of let-7g was significantly down-regulated in OS cell lines U2-OS and HOS cell compared to osteoblast cell lines HOB cell.

Increasing evidences reveal that Aurora-B may be involved in metastasis of malignant tumor. In this study, we investigated the inhibitory effect of Aurora-B on invasion and migration of OS cells and the activity of PI3K/Akt/NF-κB signaling pathway in vitro. The expression of Aurora-B and p-Akt (Ser473) proteins was detected by immunohistochemistry in OS tissues from 24 patients with pulmonary metastatic disease, and the relationship between Aurora-B and p-Akt was investigated.
