Autophagy, a catabolic process induced under stress conditions, has been shown to play a dual role in oral cancer development and therapy. Recent studies have identified that autophagy activation in oral epithelial cells suppresses cancer cell survival by inhibiting key pathways such as the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), while activating the adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) pathway.

Therefore, this cohort study aimed to investigate the prognostic value of ambulatory blood pressure (ABP) in patients with CKD and to determine the optimal range for ABP. The first multiple center prospective study of rhFSH CTP in patients undergoing assisted reproductive technology in China.

We assessed the safety and efficacy of rhFSH-CTP, a novel long-acting FSH agent, in controlled ovarian hyperstimulation for patients undergoing ART. A multi-center, open-label, randomized, positive-control, non-inferiority clinical trial was conducted. The study consisted of a phase III randomized design, with a 1:1 ratio favoring the rhFSH-CTP group over the control group.

Methods: We performed Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis using publicly available GWAS data to assess the causal relationship between T2DM and GC, validated by heterogeneity and pleiotropy analyses. Transcriptomic data from TCGA and GEO were analyzed to identify common differentially expressed genes (DEGs).

Aims: Aurora kinase A (AURKA) has been implicated in promoting myeloid and renal fibrosis. Zein and its complexes have been considered as promising carriers for encapsulating and delivering various biological active ingredients, however, there still have some issues about Zein-based drug delivery systems should be considered, including poor colloidal stability, low drug encapsulation efficiency as well as rapid initial drug release, and uncontrollable release. In this work, we reported for the first time that hyperbranched polymers (HPG) functionalized Zein with terminal alkyne (Zein-HPG-PA) can be used for loading anticancer agent curcumin (CUR) via a facile phenol-yne click reaction. The resultant product (Zein-HPG-PA@CUR) displays high drug loading capacity, small particle size and excellent water dispersibility.

MYBL2 promotes proliferation of clear cell renal cell carcinoma by regulating TOP2A and activating AKT/mTOR signaling pathway.

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is one of the most common malignancies in the urinary system, and clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most common subtype. MYBL2 has been reported to be overexpressed in various tumors and associated with poor prognosis in patients, but its biological role in ccRCC remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the mRNA and protein expression levels of MYBL2 in ccRCC samples and evaluated the prognostic value of MYBL2 using TCGA dataset.

Therapeutic dose prediction using score-based diffusion model for pretreatment patient-specific quality assurance.

Objectives: Implementing pre-treatment patient-specific quality assurance (prePSQA) for cancer patients is a necessary but time-consuming task, imposing a significant workload on medical physicists. Currently, the prediction methods used for prePSQA fall under the category of supervised learning, limiting their generalization ability and resulting in poor performance on new data. In the context of this work, the limitation of traditional supervised models was broken by proposing a conditional generation method utilizing unsupervised diffusion model.

Aim: To assess the possibility of using different large language models (LLMs) in ocular surface diseases by selecting five different LLMS to test their accuracy in answering specialized questions related to ocular surface diseases: ChatGPT-4, ChatGPT-3.5, Claude 2, PaLM2, and SenseNova.

Methods: A group of experienced ophthalmology professors were asked to develop a 100-question single-choice question on ocular surface diseases designed to assess the performance of LLMs and human participants in answering ophthalmology specialty exam questions.

Analysis of clinical characteristics of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome with acute pancreatitis: a retrospective study.

Objective: This research aimed to analyze the impact of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) with acute pancreatitis (AP) on the severity and prognosis of patients, screen the risk factors of HFRS with AP, and establish a nomogram model.

Methods: Data were collected from HFRS patients at the First Affiliated Hospital of Dali University and Dali Prefecture People's Hospital (2013-2023). Patients were divided into HFRS with AP ( = 34) and HFRS without AP groups ( = 356).

Bioequivalence Study of Bedaquiline Fumarate Tablets in Healthy Chinese Subjects.

Bedaquiline fumarate tablets are a novel oral antimycobacterial drug. This study assessed the bioequivalence of a generic bedaquiline fumarate tablet compared to a reference tablet under fasting (n = 44) and fed (n = 24) conditions. Conducted as a single-center, randomized, open-label, 2-sequence, crossover trial, 68 participants were randomly assigned to receive a 100-mg dose of either the test or reference tablet, with a 42-day washout period between doses.

Abnormal alterations in structure-function coupling at the modular level in patients with postherpetic neuralgia.

To investigate the presence of modular loss of coupling and abnormal alterations in functional and structural networks in the brain networks of patients with postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). We collected resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging data and diffusion tensor imaging data from 82 healthy controls (HCs) and 71 PHN patients, generated structural connectivity (SC) and functional connectivity (FC) networks, and assessed the corresponding clinical information assessment. Based on AAL(90) mapping, the brain network was divided into 9 modules, and the structural-functional connectivity (SC-FC) coupling was compared at the whole-brain level and within the modules, as well as alterations in the topological properties of the brain network in the patient group.

Fibrinogen: a new player and target on the formation of pre-metastatic niche in tumor metastasis.

Tumor metastasis involves a series of complex and coordinated processes, which is the main cause of patient death and still a significant challenge in cancer treatment. Pre-metastatic niches (PMN), a specialized microenvironment that develops in distant organs prior to the arrival of metastatic cancer cells, plays a crucial role in driving tumor metastasis. The development of PMN depends on a complex series of cellular and molecular components including tumor-derived factors, bone marrow-derived cells, resident immune cells, and extracellular matrix.

PMN-MDSCs are responsible for immune suppression in anti-PD-1 treated TAP1 defective melanoma.

Introduction: The transporter associated with antigen processing (TAP) is a key component of the classical HLA I antigen presentation pathway. Our previous studies have demonstrated that the downregulation of TAP1 contributes to tumor progression and is associated with an increased presence of myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) in the tumor microenvironment. However, it remains unclear whether the elevation of MDSCs leads to immune cell exhaustion in tumors lacking TAP1.

Methods: Data from the Chinese Registry of Rheumatoid Arthritis (CREDIT), a large multicenter Chinese registry of RA, were collected to analyze temporal trends in clinical profiles, therapeutic strategies, and treatment outcomes among patients with ERA.
