Retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells undergoing epithelial‑mesenchymal transition (EMT) are a key factor in promoting the progression of subretinal fibrosis. The klotho protein and gene exert anti‑fibrotic effects in multiple fibrotic diseases. However, the mechanisms involved in the role of klotho are unclear in subretinal fibrosis.

Gastric cancer (GC), among the most prevalent malignant tumors globally, demonstrates a rapid metastasis rate leading to high mortality. While microRNAs (miRNAs) have been recognized as critical regulators of tumor progression, the specific role of miR-28-3p in GC remains unclear. In this study, we demonstrate that miR-28-3p acts as a tumor suppressor by inhibiting GC cell proliferation and EMT-driven migration in vitro, as well as tumor growth and metastasis in vivo.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) impairs the central nervous system and induces the myelin-sheath-deterioration because of reactive oxygen species (ROS), further hindering the recovery of function. Herein, the simultaneously emergency treatment and dynamic luminescence severity assessment (SETLSA) strategy is designed for SCI based on cerium (Ce)-doped upconversion antioxidant nanoenzymes (Ce@UCNP-BCH). Ce@UCNP-BCH can not only efficiently eliminate the SCI localized ROS, but dynamically monitor the oxidative state in the SCI repair process using a ratiometric luminescence signal.

The current research revealed a strong link between lipid reprogramming and dysregulated lipid metabolism to the genesis and development of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). Pathologically, ccRCC exhibits a high concentration of lipid droplets within the cytoplasm. HIF-2α expression has previously been demonstrated to be elevated in ccRCC caused by mutations in the von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) gene, which plays a vital role in the development of renal cell carcinoma.

Oligoasthenoteratozoospermia (OAT) is a frequent but severe type of male infertility. As one of the most multifaceted male infertility resulting from sperm problems, its genetic etiology remains unknown in most cases. In this review, we systematically sort out the latest literature on clinical reports and animal models leading to OAT, summarise the expression profiles of causative genes for OAT, and highlight the important role of the protein transport system during spermiogenesis, spermatid cell-specific genes, Golgi and acrosome-related genes, manchette-related genes, HTCA-related genes, and axoneme-related genes in OAT development.

Objective: In-depth investigation of the diagnostic performance of dual-energy CT (DECT) virtual non-calcium (VNCa) technique for sacroiliac joint bone marrow edema (BME) in patients with ankylosing spondylitis(AS).
Methods: A total of 42 patients with AS)who underwent sacroiliac joint MRI and DECT scans on the same day at our Rheumatology and Immunology Department between August 2022 and June 2023 were selected. Using MRI as the reference standard, the presence of BME on the iliac and sacral surfaces was evaluated, resulting in the categorization of patients into BME-positive and BME-negative groups.

Cancer is a fatal disease with a high global prevalence and is associated with an increased incidence of metabolic disorders. This study aimed to develop a novel metabolic prognostic system to evaluate the overall metabolic disorder burden in cancer patients and its relationship with their prognosis. The patients in this study were enrolled from the Investigation on Nutrition Status and Clinical Outcome of Common Cancers (INSCOC) project.

ASS1(argininosuccinate synthase 1) is a rate-limiting enzyme in the urea cycle, catalyzing the synthesis of argininosuccinate from citrulline and aspartate to ultimately produce arginine and support cellular metabolism. Increasing evidence suggests that ASS1 is commonly dysregulated in the tumor microenvironment, promoting tumor cell metastasis and infiltration. With a deeper understanding of tumor metabolic reprogramming in recent years, the impact of ASS1 dysregulation on abnormal tumor metabolism has attracted growing interest among researchers.

Purpose: To evaluate the refractive differences among school-aged children with macular or peripapillary fundus tessellation (FT) distribution patterns, using fundus tessellation density (FTD) quantified by deep learning (DL) technology.
Methods: The cross-sectional study included 1942 school children aged six to 15 years, undergoing ocular biometric parameters, cycloplegic refraction, and fundus photography. FTD was quantified for both the macular (6 mm) and peripapillary (4 mm) regions, using DL-based image processing applied to 45° color fundus photographs.

Introduction: Laennec's capsule serves as a critical anatomical landmark in anatomical liver resection. Despite its potential, a lack of large-scale prospective studies limits the widespread use of the Laennec approach for minimally invasive hepatectomy. This multicenter cohort study aimed to compare the outcomes of the traditional and Laennec approaches in minimally invasive anatomical hepatectomy across multiple centers in China.

Background: The increasing prevalence of myopia among Chinese children and adolescents, especially at younger ages, has emerged as a significant concern in recent years. Pre-myopia is a key period for myopia prevention and control in children and adolescents. Previous studies suggested auricular acupressure (AA) therapy might offer a viable approach to prevent and slow down myopia progression.

Ubiquitin-specific protease 25 (USP25), a member of the deubiquitination family, plays an important role in protein ubiquitination, degradation, inflammation, and immune regulation. However, the role and mechanism of USP25 in ulcerative colitis (UC) remain unclear. To study the role and mechanism of USP25 in UC, bioinformatics analysis and research are conducted on clinical patients with UC, Usp25 knockout (Usp25) mice, intestinal epithelial cell-specific knockout signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (Stat3) (Villin-Cre Stat3) mice, and human colonic epithelial cells.
