Micelle-entrapped silica xerogel (M-Silica xerogel) was biomimetically synthesized to combine the advantages of micelles and silica xerogel to load poorly water-soluble drug itraconazole (ITZ). Tween 20, tween 40, and tween 80 were applied to prepare micelles as the templates for M20-Silica xerogel, M40-Silica xerogel, and M80-Silica xerogel, respectively. During the silica frame construction, the surfactant formed a micelle as the porous template, silicon hydroxyl groups interacted with the hydrophilic parts of the micelle, and polyethylenimine catalyzed silica polycondensation owing to its amino groups, resulting in the formation of the M-Silica xerogels.

We describe a new type of ultra-small magneto-gold nanoparticle (MGN) with folic acid (FA)-based tumour targeting and multimodal imaging-guided photothermal therapy (PTT) properties that can be used as a theranostic nanoagent. The nanoagent integrates these MGNs-FA with surface modifications, and as expected, is monodisperse, and exhibits small size, strong NIR absorption, photothermal stability, good relaxivity and X-ray absorption coefficient, tumour targeting and excellent biocompatibility. Based on these properties, the nanoagent was successfully tested, both as a photothermal agent for high PTT efficacy and as a multimodality contrast agent for - & -MRI/CT/PA imaging and .

Although blocking programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) has emerged as a standard treatment for metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC), a vast majority of CRC patients still respond poorly to anti-PD-1 immunotherapy. In this study, we showed that the levels of indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 1 (IDO1) and its catabolite kynurenine (Kyn) were higher in late stages (stages III and IV) than in early stages (stages I and II) of CRC patients. We found that Kyn could induce the expression of immune checkpoints and exhaustion markers in CD8 tumor-infiltrating T cells.

Previous epidemiological and histopathological studies have demonstrated that long-term computation of Kweichow Moutai liquor (Moutai) could induce fatty liver disease but few of these patients with fatty liver will develop hepatic fibrosis or cirrhosis. Moutai liquor has a different brewing technique from other white wine, which may generate various microorganisms in the unique geographical conditions and may produce plenty of vitamins, amino acids, and several essential microelements. In the current study, we evaluated the potential protective effect of Moutai liquor in alcohol-induced liver fibrosis mouse model.
