Tween 20, tween 40, and tween 80 were applied to prepare micelles as the templates for M20-Silica xerogel, M40-Silica xerogel, and M80-Silica xerogel, respectively. During the silica frame construction, the surfactant formed a micelle as the porous template, silicon hydroxyl groups interacted with the hydrophilic parts of the micelle, and polyethylenimine catalyzed silica polycondensation owing to its amino groups, resulting in the formation of the M-Silica xerogels.

Although blocking programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) has emerged as a standard treatment for metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC), a vast majority of CRC patients still respond poorly to anti-PD-1 immunotherapy. In this study, we showed that the levels of indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 1 (IDO1) and its catabolite kynurenine (Kyn) were higher in late stages (stages III and IV) than in early stages (stages I and II) of CRC patients. We found that Kyn could induce the expression of immune checkpoints and exhaustion markers in CD8 tumor-infiltrating T cells.

The role of LIM and SH3 protein 1 (LASP1) in colorectal cancer (CRC) has been described in multiple studies, however, the underlying molecular mechanisms remained inclusive. In the present study, we performed immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining for LASP1 and found that LASP1 expression was higher in CRC tissue of advanced stage. Over-expressed (OE) LASP1 promoted proliferation, tumorigenesis and migration of CRC cell lines SW480 and SW620.

Aims: The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of astragaloside IV (As-IV) on mechanical stress-induced myocardial hypertrophy, with a focus on autophagy and inflammation.
Methods: A rat cardiac hypertrophy model was established by narrowing the abdominal aorta, and a cell hypertrophy model was established by mechanically stretching primary cardiomyocytes. Cardiac function index and cardiac hypertrophy were measured by echocardiography, heart weight index (HWI) and left ventriculus weight index (LVWI) in vivo.
Previous epidemiological and histopathological studies have demonstrated that long-term computation of Kweichow Moutai liquor (Moutai) could induce fatty liver disease but few of these patients with fatty liver will develop hepatic fibrosis or cirrhosis. Moutai liquor has a different brewing technique from other white wine, which may generate various microorganisms in the unique geographical conditions and may produce plenty of vitamins, amino acids, and several essential microelements. In the current study, we evaluated the potential protective effect of Moutai liquor in alcohol-induced liver fibrosis mouse model.
